Prosecutor says “60 plus possible victims” had been identified
There could be as many as 60 possible new victims in a case involving a Catholic priest Derry magistrates Court has been told.
Edward Gallagher (58) of Orchard Park in Lifford Co Donegal had been charged with one count of attempted sexual communication with a child on dates between April 2 and April 17 2025.
He faced seven further offences including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and causing a child to watch sexual activity on April 17.
At Thursday’s hearing a prosecutor told the court that the triage of the devices in the case had been completed.
She added that “60 plus possible victims” had been identified and this would need to be further investigated before any more progress could be made in the case.
The prosecution applied for the case to be adjourned for another four weeks.
