Diocese: Diocese of Richmond VA

Forced to retire in 9/02 after allegations of past sexual abuse of minors. He asked a priest in 8/02 to tell the bishop that he had been approached about a past incident with an adult when he was a deacon. The bishop investigated and learned of several incidents of sexual misconduct with minors during the late-1970s and mid-'80s. There had been rumors about 10 years previously. Bishop Sullivan investigated at the time, but could not substantiate. There may have been complaints in the 1970s and 1980s that were overlooked during the review of priest files in mid-2002. On diocese's list 2/13/19. Died in 10/20.
