In 2002 Aviles was director of Assumption Seminary's vocation office. Removed from parish assignment in 2/04 over accusations involving an incident with a teenage boy in 1985, shortly before Aviles entered seminary. Complaint received 8/03; not immediately removed because the incident occurred prior to his ordination and archdiocese not sure canon law applied. After archdiocese found the allegation to be "substantive," Aviles was sent for long-term residential psychological treatment. A second allegation in 2004, of abuse of a teenage boy in 1994. Police notified. Permanently removed from ministry. Died in 2008. On archdiocese's list 1/31/19.

Fr. Matthew Bagert

Arrested 2005 on charges of possessing child porn on his computer. Trial set for 6/06. Charges dismissed just prior to trial after judge said evidence of the porn was obtained illegally by a deacon and another priest. Case referred to Feds for prosecution. Left priesthood and married. In 11/08 Bagert pled not guilty to federal indictment of child porn. In 4/09 he changed plea to guilty. Sentenced 12/1/09 to 4 years 3 months in prison. On diocese's list 1/31/19. Noted to be laicized.

Ordained for the Diocese of Dallas. Became a priest of the Diocese of Tyler when it was created in 1987. Retired in 2017. Placed on leave in 1/2019 by the Tyler diocese after information that Dallas would be including Barone on its list of accused. Case was to go before Tyler's Diocesan Review Board. Included in 4/2019 on the Tyler's list of credibly accused.

Monsignor. Removed from ministry in 3/2024 due to allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor occurring 35 years prior. Resigned and retired from Our Lady of Sorrows in McAllen. The Diocesan Review Board was investigating. Barrera's attorneys denied the allegation and alleged slander. On 4/4/2024 the Cameron County District Attorney's Office received an allegation by another person that Barrera had engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor. The Office opened an investigation.

Her therapist informed the Brownsville Bishop in the 1990s. Beazley also worked in the San Antonio, San Angelo, Amarillo, Baton Rouge, and Colorado Springs dioceses. Died in 1992.

Full name Richard Thomas Behnke. Accused of sexually abusing at least six boys in several dioceses, all beginning when the boys were in about the sixth grade. There were at least two formal complaints to religious authorities, one in 1959 and another in 1963. The abuse is said to have occurred in parish rectories and on trips. Behnke organized religious retreats for boys under the age of 15 to Mexico, Japan, Ireland, Greece, and France. A suit filed in 10/2002 by a Dallas-area man alleged Behnke abused him as a boy at St. Mary of Carmel in Oak Cliff 1978-1980; Behnke denied charges. Per 2003 news, he was living at the Servants of the Paraclete treatment facility in Jemez Springs, NM. The Dallas Diocese denied sending him there and the Order wouldn't comment. Five more plaintiffs joined the suit. Settled for $4.65M 10/2009. All but $500K of the settlement came from the Order. Also worked in OK. Died 11/9/2008. On the Dallas Diocese and San Antonio Archdiocese's lists 1/31/2019. Accused in 2017 of abuse of a San Antonio boy in the 1970s. On Oklahoma City Archdiocese's list 10/3/2019.

A civil suit filed 4/12/12 against the Beaumont diocese and its Bishop alleged Bollich abused a 14-year-old boy at Sacred Heart in Nacogdoches, TX in 1976-77. The parish was then in the Beaumont diocese, later in the Diocese of Tyler. Four other accusers from the Nacogdoches area and one from Bridge City joined suit. All claims settled and suit dismissed 12/11/13. On the Beaumont diocese's list 1/31/19.

Fr. Terence P. Brinkman

A man filed a civil suit in 7/10 alleging that Brinkman molested and raped him between 1974 and 1976 while assigned to St. Charles Borromeo in Houston. Placed on leave. Plaintiff alleged that in at least two incidents, Brinkman used chloroform to render him unconscious before raping him. In 11/10, the suit was dismissed due to the statute of limitations. Plaintiff requested new trial. Brinkman denied the allegations. In 1/20 Brinkman remains pastor of St. John the Evangelist in Baytown, his role since 2008.

Accused of molesting a teenage girl in 1981. Police notified. Transferred to parishes without notice to pastors. Rumors of behavior with 7th-8th grade boys. Removed from active ministry 1993. Per diocese in 2002, Brown was living "as a hermit in a New York monastery." Allegation 10/18 of abuse of a girl in the 1980s. Accuser said she told diocese in 2004. Report not in pages of Brown's file initially turned over to detectives; some info in pages later turned over. Also revealed Brown admitted to touching two juveniles in DC and TX. On diocese's list 1/31/19. Noted to be absent on leave. Diocesan headquarters raided by Dallas police in 5/19 related to this case and four others. Found by detectives in Pecos, NM; admitted to sexually abusing up to 50 children. Arrested 1/29/20 at the Vianney Renewal Center in Dittmer, MO, on charges he molested a girl 7/5/89 in Irving, TX.

Transferred to the Yakima diocese in 11/1976; continued to abuse. Faculties revoked in Yakima in about 1986. At least one claim against the Beaumont diocese settled in 1998. Suit filed in WA in 1988 against Calhoun and R. Scully, settled in 1994. At least three known victims in the 1980s in WA. Also worked in Seattle; on its Tribunal 1987-1988. May have gone on to live in TX. A 10/2011 suit in WA settled in 12/2012 for $50K; a  5/2013 suit settled in 2/2014 for $75K. Included on the Seattle archdiocese's 1/15/2016. Name reversed at times in the Official Catholic Directory, as "Calhoun Dale." On the Beaumont diocese's list 1/31/2019. On Yakima's list 7/9/2019.

Fr. Peter J. Callery

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 10/19 of abuse of a Jesuit College Prep student in the early 1980s. The plaintiff also claimed abuse by former Jesuit Prep president Rev. Patrick Koch. Callery was the boy's teacher and wrestling coach. The abuse is said to have occurred in a hotel room during a team trip to a match. In 10/19 Callery was living and working at Manresa House of Retreats in Convent, LA. The Jesuits stated that Callery would be suspended from public ministry "until this matter is resolved." Another former Prep student joined a suit filed in in 8/19 against the school and diocese, alleging abuse there by Callory and Rev. Vincent Malatesta. It settled in 3/22.

Deacon Ronaldo Mitchell Chavez

Deacon at small mission in Granjeno, TX. Arrested 1/17/14, charged with molesting an altar boy over a two-year period, 6/2010- 8/2012. Diocese had removed his privileges as deacon in 2012 when allegations first surfaced. Lost his job as principal at South Texas Educational Technologies Inc. when he was arrested. Pled guilty, sentenced to seven years in prison. Civil suit filed 6/5/14. On diocese's list 1/31/19.

Fr. Hugh Clarke

Monsignor. Ordained in Ireland. Arrived in Corpus Christi diocese in 1968, incardinated in 1975. Suit filed in 4/10 alleged Clarke molested three altar boys 1972-1975 while assigned to Christ the King in Corpus Christi. He would frequently drive through the low-income housing near the parish and pick up altar boys to help him do projects at the church. Some of the abuse occurred during these "projects." Documents show allegations of child sexual abuse in the mid-1980s, and that he would take three teens to Mexico where there was sexual abuse, drugs, alcohol and visits to brothels.  Sent to treatment, diagnosed with pedophilia, then returned to ministry. Later elevated to monsignor.  Retired in 1997 and moved to Ireland, where he died 12/16/02. Suit settled for $1.2M 7/12/11. On Corpus Christi diocese's list 1/31/19. Added to Raleigh diocese's list on 5/29/19; arrived in the US as a Carmelite priest in 1965 and assigned to Immaculate Conception in Hendersonville NC, now in the Charlotte diocese. Added to Charlotte diocese's list in 2/20.

Worked in San Antonio 1959-1992. The archdiocese revealed in 2019 that there were seven allegations, six of the in 2011, dating to the 1990s. In 2002 Clerx was accused of sexually abusing a child in the early 1960s. He admitted to the abuse. Died 12/17/03. In 1/11, four sisters filed suit against the San Antonio archdiocese, alleging that Clerx molested them; one said he raped her repeatedly 1988-1992. The girls were minors and he was assigned to St. John Berchman's in San Antonio. Their mother worked for parish. Clerx gave the girls special privileges and visited them when mother was at work. One of the women reported the abuse to the Archdiocese in 2010. On archdiocese's list 1/31/19.

Accused in 1987 of touching the genitals of a 17-year-old boy, who was a patient at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, where Contreras was chaplain. Removed, sent to treatment. Faculties in the Archdiocese removed. Per the Archdiocese, Contreras said he was returning to his native Guadalajara to live with his sister. Returned to the states, worked in the Santa Rosa 1995-2000, on recommendation from the Diocese of Tepic. Spent a short time in 1998 as a chaplain at the WA State Reformatory near Seattle. Returned to Mexico in 2000. Celebrated the 50th anniversary of ordination in a parish in Colima, Mexico in 2017. Retired.

Fr. Robert R. Crisp

In 4/10 Crisp told Sacred Heart in Rowlett parishioners via letter that the diocese had granted his request for a 6-month leave of absence. A week later the bishop told parishioners he had removed Crisp because several women, including 2 teens, complained of inappropriate and unwanted touching. Privileges removed. Pled no contest 3/11. Sentenced to 6 months deferred adjudication and $650 fine. In 7/14 it was learned that Bishop Farrell had reassigned Crisp to prison ministry. He may also have been ministering at St. Joseph Village, a retirement home, in Coppell, TX. On diocese's list 1/31/19. Noted to be retired with faculties suspended. Accused in a suit filed by multiple plaintiffs in 8/19 regarding multiple priests of abusing a boy in the 1980s at St. Pius X School. The suit settled in 3/22.

Fr. Gustavo DeJesus Cuello

Colombia native. Ordained for the Guayaquil archdiocese in Ecuador. Arrived in the Tyler diocese in 1995. Arrested in 1997; charged with having sex with 13-year-old girl. Released on bail and fled the country. Arrested in Ecuador in 7/2003 and extradited to Texas. Found guilty at trial in 10/2003. Sentenced to 50 years in prison. Cuello rejected the judge's sentence and opted to have a jury decide his sentence. In 10/2003 a jury sentenced him to life in prison. Civil suit settled for less than $100,000. Laicization announced in 11/2006. Included on the Tyler diocese's list of credibly accused.

Deacon Narciso Marquez Custodio

Custodio, a deacon at St. Paul the Apostle in Richardson, was arrested in 6/1984 and charged with aggravated sexual assault of an 11-year-old boy. Sentenced in 4/1985 to 8 years in jail. A civil suit was filed in 1986 against the parish, the Dallas Diocese, the San Antonio Archdiocese, and Custodio. It settled at some point.

Fr. Johnny Davila

The archdiocese was notified in 12/93 that Davila had been accused of sexually abusing two girls. Arrested. Pled guilty. In 11/03 R. Scamardo, the former chief counsel for the Diocese of Galveston-Houston, announced that he had been abused in 1975 by Delaney, former director for youth ministry for the Austin diocese. Scamardo told Austin Bishop of his allegations and requested in-patient treatment. Matter settled in 10/03 for $250K and counseling fees. Delaney laicized in 1987 "for behavior problems." Bishop admitted he had heard from other victims. Another suit filed 5/04. Died in 2008. On Austin diocese's list 1/31/19.

Deacon Russel William Detwiler

Ordained a Deacon of the diocese in 1995; worked at Sacred Heart parish in Wichita Falls. Moved to MI 2001, returned to TX Spring 2006. Returned to Sacred Heart parish in 1/09. Involved in prison ministry. Arrested 5/25/17 after a 14-year-old girl told therapist Detwiler touched her inappropriately between 2010-12, when she was under age 10. Charged with Indecency with a Child. Girl's mother said she had previously confronted Detwiler about the allegations. Convicted in 6/18, and again in 2018 related to charges involving the same victim in Wichita Falls.

Fr. Stephen Tarleton Dougherty

Removed from active ministry in 12/11 after the Corpus Christi diocese received an allegation that Dougherty had engaged in sexual misconduct. His accuser filed a civil lawsuit 7/12/16, claiming Dougherty sexually abused her 2005-2011, beginning when she was age 7. Indicted in 6/16 charges of rape of a 13-year-old girl in 12/11. Pled not guilty. Judge declared a mistrial in 3/17 after jury deadlocked. Convicted at second trial 2/28/18, sentenced to 60 years in prison. Bishop Mulvey testified that a man told him in a letter that Dougherty sexually abused him at age 8. On diocese's list 1/31/19. On Fargo diocese's list 1/2/20, where he worked at some point. No known allegations there.

Fr. Daniel Michael Drinan

Removed from ministry by Order in 2006. Arrested 9/9/2012 in Denver airport after viewing porn on laptop and masturbating during flight. Pled guilty 12/11/2012; sentenced to two years' probation. Laicized in 2014. On Baton Rouge diocese's list in early 2019. It notes report in 3/2003 of abuse in the late 1970s while assigned to Christ the King in Baton Rouge. Left diocese in 1979. Fr. Richard A. Edelin

Accused in 1996 of repeatedly groping a girl confessional and at retreats 1981-82, beginning when she was age 17. He denied the allegations. Accuser was given $5K and told by Bishop Fiorenza on 02/23/96 that Edelin was suspended. Assigned to six parishes his first ten years after ordination. Served as USAF Chaplain from 1989-92, on leave 1992-97. Not indexed in the Directories after 1997 until 2003, when the diocese tried to reinstate him. Accuser complained. He went to work in Baker, OR diocese where seminary classmate was bishop. Included on Galveston-Houston archdiocese's list 1/31/19. It notes that Edelin was removed from public ministry in 2013.

Worked in a number of archdioceses and dioceses: St. Paul-Minneapolis, Bismarck ND, Oakland CA, Austin TX, San Jose CA, Lima Peru via the Boston-based Society of St. John the Apostle, and Boston MA. Accused in a 3/16 lawsuit of sexual abuse of a boy over five years, beginning when he was an 11-year-old student and altar server at St. Louis parish in Austin in the 1970s. Eggerling was assigned to Austin 1973-79. He reportedly plied the boy with alcohol and took him on trips. Died 2/29/08, per the 2009 Official Catholic Directory. On Sioux Falls diocese's list 3/21/19 (it erroneously notes his death dated as 3/7/2008). On Austin diocese's list 1/31/19.

Fr. Virgilio Elizondo

Accused in a lawsuit filed 5/22/15 of the sexual abuse of a teenage boy in 1983 in San Antonio. The accuser said Elizondo kissed and fondled him after he told Elizondo that former seminarian and then-Rev. Jesus Armando Dominguez had sexually abused him. Elizondo denied abuse. Longtime University of Notre Dame professor, known as founder of Latino theology in the U.S. Still in ministry 6/8/15. Died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound 3/14/16. On San Antonio archdiocese's list 1/31/19.

Fr. Armando Escobedo

Accused in a 6/25/10 civil suit of abusing a boy 1978-81, while assigned to Our Lady of St. John of Fields in Mission, TX. Much of the abuse is said to have occurred on parish property. Petition says Escobedo would ply the boy with alcohol. Escobedo denied the allegations. On the Brownsville diocese's list 1/31/19. It notes that he was removed from ministry in 2002.

Fr. David Espitia

Espitia spent several years as a Brigittine monk before attending St. Mary's seminary. Ordained for the San Angelo diocese. In early 6/03 Espitia told Bishop Pfeifer that someone was accusing him of sexually abusing a minor. Espitia denied the abuse but said he would step aside temporarily. On 6/13/03 he was found hanged in the rectory. Police investigation of suicide found child pornography on his computer. His accuser filed a civil suit in 12/09, claiming Espitia abused him over eight years, until 2002. Settled at mediation in 11/11. On the diocese's list 2/13/19.


Fr. Miguel Esquivel

Accused in 2002 of sexually assaulting a girl in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Removed from active ministry in 4/02. Arrested by the sheriff's office in 6/02 and charged with eight felony counts. Civil suit filed in 7/02. "On duty outside the diocese" per the 2002 Official Catholic Directory. He had been serving as chaplain in a federal prison out of state until allegations surfaced. Criminal charges dropped in 1/04 due to SOL. Civil suit settled. On Las Cruces diocese's list 11/8/18. Noted to have worked in the Las Cruces diocese in 1996, as a La Tuna Prison chaplain. On San Angelo's list 2/13/19.

Fr. Domingo Gonzales Estrada

Fr. John B. Feit

Ordained for Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Pleaded no contest 1962 to reduced charge of aggravated assault for grabbing a young woman in church in 1960. Shortly after the 1960 assault, he became prime suspect in rape/murder of another young woman in McAllen, TX. Feit worked at Servants of the Paraclete treatment facility for clergy in NM for several years and joined the order. Becamed Superior; placed many abusers in outside positions. Left order in 1972, married and raised a family. Worked many yrs for St. Vincent de Paul Society in Phoenix. In 2002 a former priest told police Feit confessed the murder to him in 1963. Grand jury investigation in 2004. Not indicted. Arrested 2/9/16 on charges related to the 1960 murder. Waived extradition. Convicted at trial 12/7/17. Sentenced to life in prison. Was to be transferred to state prison, the Byrd Unit in Huntsville. Died in prison 2/11/20.

Fr. John J. Feminelli

Accused of buying presents for a 15-year-old boy in exchange for wrestling matches. Feminelli was a deacon at time; ordained even after charges made by boy and family. Denied the allegations. The family said church did not believe them and drove them away by circulating false information about them. Case dismissed in 1991. Retired 4/16/07. Included on the diocese's list 1/31/19. In 3/19 Feminelli filed a defamation suit against the diocese. He died 1/22/23.

Per Fenerty's personnel file, a woman made a complaint of abuse against Br. Fenerty in 4/02. No date of abuse was stated and no litigation was filed. The woman alleged that Fenerty molested her on several occasions when she was ages 5 1/2 -12. The abuse allegedly occurred in Santa Fe where Fenerty was a teacher. Fenerty denied abuse but said there was an occasional hug. He was placed on leave and then "retired." Reportedly remained active in 2007,

Fr. Federico Fernandez Baeza

Chicago-St. Louis Province Franciscan, in San Antonio 1981-1987. Accused in a 1988 lawsuit of abusing two boys. Church promised to investigate and asked parents to keep quiet. Sent to treatment. The boys' older brother said the priest abused him, too. Previously arrested for public indecency. Criminal charges dismissed. Civil suit settled in 7/1988. In 2002 a man said he told Archbishop Flores in 1983 about seeing Fernandez naked in a swimming pool with two girls, ages 10 and 11. Active priest in 5/2011 in Bogota, Colombia. One alleged victim who said Fernandez Baeza molested and raped him as a 5th-grader was convicted of rape and murder in 1995; he was executed in 2011 by the State of Texas. Fernandez Baeza was working in 2015 at Universidad de San Buenaventura in Cartagena, and posting "Sunday Reflections" on a Bogota church's website. On San Antonio archdiocese's list 1/31/2019. It notes eight allegations. Removed in 2015 in Colombia by the Franciscans, case referred to the Vatican. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes at least eight "reported survivors." Professed vows as a Marianist brother in 1947. Worked at high schools in IL, TX, WI, CA, MO, HI. Per news in 2002, Fitzsimmons was accused of sexually abusing Michael Rodriguez 20 years prior when Rodriguez was a student at Catholic High School in San Antonio. Rodriguez, who was one of the "Texas Seven" prison escapees who shot and killed a police officer 12/24/2000, claimed in the penalty portion of his trial for this murder that Fitzsimmons abused him. Defense attorney brought Fitzsimmons to TX to testify at trial. Fitzsimmons invoked the Fifth Amendment and did not testify. Withdrew from the Order in 2000. Died in 2011. Name included on the Marianists' list 6/24/2020. Included on the Belleville diocese's list 9/20/2022. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Suspended by Dallas diocese in 5/02 after an accusation of sexual misconduct involving a minor in the early 1980s. By 5/03, three to four men had alleged that they were abused as minors by Flanagan. From Ireland. Monsignor. Admitted in 10/1997 to a "sexual encounter" with a female adolescent more than 20 years prior. She had written to the Archdiocese in 9/1997, alleging he abused her as a teenager in the 1960s and sexually assaulted her as a young adult in the 1970s. Removed from ministry and sent to a MD treatment center for evaluation. Resigned the same year from ministry in the San Antonio archdiocese. Allowed by Bishop Carmody in 1998 to minister in the Tyler TX diocese. Retired in 2002; continued active ministry. In 2005 the San Antonio archdiocese gave new information to the Tyler diocese showing a possible credible allegation of the sexual abuse of a girl occurring in the 1960s-1970s. Removed from ministry. Case sent to the Vatican. Returned to restricted ministry in 2008. After a review in 2018, again removed from ministry. Included on the San Antonio archdiocese's list 1/31/2019. On the Tyler diocese's list of credibly accused in 4/2019.

Garcia Hernando fled to Spain (with permission of and help from diocese) before the criminal investigation was completed. Civil suit filed 2/20/95. Criminal charges 6/95. Voluntarily returned to TX in 12/96. Arrested. Criminal trial set for 7/97; charges dismissed because prosecutor could not substantiate story and due to SOL. On diocese's list 1/31/19. Garcia Hernando filed suit against the diocese and bishop in 6/19 claiming they made a "false" statement that he was "credibly accused." Remained a priest in Spain.

Irving Klister of abusing at least two more youths in El Paso. Both alleged victims were students at St. Pius X School. Included on the El Paso diocese's list 1/31/2019. In 3/2024 a man filed suit, claiming abuse when he was 5 years old child by Gaynor in late 1967-early 1968.

Admitted fathering at least 8 illegitimate children with young girls. On Baton Rouge diocese's list in early 2019. Report in 6/12 of abuse in the 1970s while assigned to an Albany, LA parish. He had worked at St. Thomas More in Glendale since 2003. He retired as supervisory chaplain with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 2011. While in Dallas, he was assigned to parish in Coppell, TX. Fr. Benigno David Gonzalez Zumaya

In 2008 a man alleged that he was molested as a boy 1978-1982 by Zumaya and Revs. Louis White and Larry Hernandez. The priests were assigned at the time to San Fernando Cathedral. Zumaya may also have abused the boy while assigned to Carrizo Springs. The Archdiocese admitted that there had been previous allegations of an undefined nature in the past which had been "handled" at the time. Two more accusers later came forward. Zumaya left ministry in 1998 without faculties and retired to his native Guadalajara, Mexico, where he was allowed to minister. Name included on the Archdiocese of San Antonio list 1/31/2019. It notes 9 allegations, the first one received in 1997, leading to his removal. Gonzalez Zumaya died in 2013.

It notes that Guerra was removed from ministry in 1984 and that he left the priesthood in 1987.

Ordained as deacon in 1997. Named publicly as accused by the Lubbock diocese on its list 1/31/19. Assigned 1997-2003 to Our Lady of Grace in Lubbock, and at San Ramon in Woodrow 2006-07. Suspended in 2003. Reinstated in 2006. Permanently removed from ministry in 2008. Guerrero filed suit against the diocese in 3/19, claiming he was wrongly named on the diocese's list of credibly accused clergy. His attorney said the accuser was a woman in her 40s who said the priest did not abuse her. The diocese stated in 4/19 that the accuser is the equivalent to a minor under canon law because she "habitually lacks the use of reason." The state supreme court ruled in 6/21 that the diocese could include Guerrero on its list of credibly accused. (Referred to in 6/21 news as "Jesse" Guerrero. Another deacon by that name was accused in Amarillo TX.)

Fr. Dale Anthony Guidry

Ordained for Houma-Thibodaux diocese. On leave several years, then resurfaced in Honolulu HI parishes. Later assigned to Amarillo TX. Removed from ministry in 1999; bishop would not give reason. Arrested in Montgomery County TX 7/30/09, charged with two counts of Online Solicitation of a Minor. Pled guilty to both counts and was sentenced 7/15/10 to 5 years in prison. Died 10/20/13 in Stockton TX. On Houma-Thibodaux diocese's list 1/11/19.

Br. Kerry Guillory

Accused in suit filed in NM 11/07 of abuse of a teen boy 1976-77 in Las Cruces, NM, then part of the Diocese of El Paso, TX. Guillory was running a shelter in Louisville, KY when suit filed. He denied the allegations. Suit named both Las Cruces and El Paso dioceses. Two other suits filed, in 2008 and 2009. On Las Cruces diocese's list 11/8/18. Suit filed 2/19 in NM claiming Guillory raped a 7-year-old boy 1972-74 at St. Edward's school in Carlsbad. On Lake Charles' diocese's list 4/11/19; allegations received 1986 and 2015 of abuse of multiple minors in 1983 in Jennings. On El Paso's list 1/31/19.

Fr. Fernando Noe Guzman

From the Archdiocese of Morelia, Mexico. Extern priest in Galveston-Houston. Guzman molested a 13-year-old girl in her grandfather's house in 1984. Caught by a social worker who reported abuse to Bishop. Transferred to another parish where he started an "affair" with a married woman. Removed from ministry in 1987. Civil suit filed 1990 by a woman he seduced and made pregnant. Jury denied her claims but Guzman testimony in this case resulted in criminal charges and conviction in 1992 in the case involving the 13-year-old girl. Sentenced to 10 years in jail. Served 90 day shock probation and released. Was working in 1992 in Houston real estate. Died in 2006.


Fr. Clement A. Hageman

Identified in 8/2005 by Gallup diocese as abuser. At least 16 alleged victims in Winslow, AZ. At least one man settled with diocese in 2004. A 70-year-old man sued Gallup in 11/2010 alleging abuse by Hageman in the 1950s. Assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Holbrook 1942-1952 and Madre de Dios in Winslow 1965-1975. Suit also named Corpus Christi diocese and said there were allegations about him there in 1930s. Died 7/2/1975. Gallup diocese's personnel file released 4/2011 shows multiple settlements. Corpus Christi and Santa Fe dismissed from suit 2012. New suits 5/2013 and 6/2013. Gallup diocese filed for bankruptcy in 2013 after lawsuit claiming 57 victims. Diocese released names of 30 "credibly accused" priests and one lay teacher in 12/2014. On Corpus Christi's list 1/31/2019. Removed from ministry in the diocese in 1939.

Fr. James Bernard Hanlon

Accused of abuse of a 16-year-old boy in late 1982 or early 1983. Settled in 1997 for $12.5K. Hanlon died 2/17/90 at age 38. He was HIV positive; death certificate says years of alcoholism contributed to his death. Diocese ordered to produce personnel files. Allegations are that the diocese shielded Hanlon and other abusers. Personnel files produced 11/28/06. Named in new suit 4/07. Suit against Hanlon and Fr. Teczar settled in 2/08. Another claim settled in 3/09.

Named publicly as credibly accused of the sexual abuse of a minor(s) by the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese on its list 1/31/2019. Faculties removed in 2013. From 2013 until at least 2018 was Treasurer General of the Basilian Fathers Council in Toronto.


Fr. James B. Hay

Monsignor. Ordained for El Paso, incardinated into Las Cruces Diocese when it was formed in 1982. Died in 1974. A man filed suit 2006 alleging that Hay raped him and another youth in 1964 while assigned to Our Lady of the Light. The suit named El Paso diocese and Hay's supervising priest, who the accuser said ignored his requests for help. Case dismissed on SOL 1/09; plaintiff filed motion to recuse judge since he contributed to Church during the pendency of the case. Judge withdrew 4/28/09. New judge was to reopen the case 5/09. On Las Cruces diocese's list 6/24/19. In 11/18 a Catholic Elementary school named after Hay changed its name to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic School.

Fr. Timothy J. Heines

Per news in 1/19, a 33-year-old man said Heines sexually abused him as a minor. He met Heines when he was age 12, after his parents separated and his mother had him get involved in church. He said the priest bought him dinners, haircuts and expensive clothes during high school and got him to pose for sexually suggestive photos. Also, he said Heines massaged him with oil, touching his penis, and showed him porn. He said that after high school Heines sexually assaulted him. Heines' accuser reportedly went to the diocese in 2015 and was told he was a 'consenting adult', despite showing them photos Heines took of him when he was a minor. The diocese said in 1/19 that Heines had been removed from ministry and was in the process of being laicized. On diocese's list 1/31/19.

Forced to resign in 1995 as pastor of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Fort Worth after admitting that he repeatedly abused a 12-year-old in 1957. At least 9 other accusers went to the diocese but diocese did not reveal their claims. It told public that there were only a few victims and no incidents after 1960. Convicted in 1996. Other victims came forward after Hoover's death. Ordained for Dallas diocese; became part of Ft. Worth Diocese when it was formed in 1969. Died in 1996. On diocese's list 1/31/19.

The Archdiocese announced in 1/08 that Horn had been placed on leave and sent for treatment in 11/07, immediately after allegations were made that he abused a minor between 1989 and 1993. He was at Christ the King parish in Houston during that time frame. Review board said that sufficient evidence existed to suggest that the abuse had occurred. Included on archdiocese's list 1/31/19.

Brought from Spain to TX by diocesan officials in 1999 as a candidate for seminary. Reportedly, his pastor in Spain had given him a negative recommendation. A lawsuit filed in 3/01 alleged that Huerres sexually abused a 15-year-old boy at the parish where Huerres was stationed while awaiting the start of seminary classes. The boy reported the abuse in 2000. The Diocese paid for Huerres to return to Spain with permission from the victim's family and criminal justice authorities. The Diocese said it also notified officials in Spain. Huerres admitted to the misconduct. "Modest" settlement.

Fr. William J. Hughes

Accused in a 1994 civil suit of molesting a 13-year-old girl 1983-84. Her parents found letters from him and told another priest. Hughes admitted his behavior. Transferred. Noted to have been removed 1989, and laicized. Dallas police raided diocesan headquarters in 5/19 related to the Hughes case and four others.

Kept in ministry, including during the archdiocese's investigation. Pastor in 2019 of Prince of Peace parish in Houston, there since 1999. In 12/18 another man alleged abuse as a minor by Keller. Suspended 1/31/19 pending investigation. Bishop allowed him to celebrate one last mass prior to suspension. On archdiocese's list 1/31/19. In 5/19 Keller requested retirement "for age and medical reasons." In 6/19 a third man alleged abuse by Keller at age 15.

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/19 of sexually assaulting a Jesuit College Prep of Dallas student, where Koch was principal 1972-79, president 1979-80 and alumni director 1980-86. Another suit, filed in 9/19, claims abuse by Koch of a 15-year-old Jesuit Prep sophomore around 1980. In 10/19 another Dallas Prep alumnus sued, alleging abuse by Koch during confession in the early 1980s. The same man also claimed abuse by Prep teacher and wrestling coach, Rev. Peter Callery, SJ. Koch's name was added in 12/21 to the Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province list of credibly accused. Named in a lawsuit settled in 3/22 filed by multiple plaintiffs regarding multiple priests who allegedly abused in the late 1970s and early 1980s at Jesuit College Prep of Dallas.

Reports in 2018 by two people to the diocese of abuse by LaRosa-Lopez at a Conroe parish. A man said he was abused 1998-2001 as a teen, and told church officials, including Cardinal DiNardo, who offered counseling. A woman alleged abused as a teen in 2000. Priest was transferred. She again contacted the diocese in 2010; diocese told her he had been sent to a' mental institution' twice and had a job with no contact with children. She went to police. LaRosa-Lopez turned himself in 9/11/18; charged. Police raided rectory a week later. Accused in 10/18 of abusing an altar boy as a seminarian in mid-1990s. By late 11/18 six people, male and female, had alleged abuse. On archdiocese's list 1/31/19. Suit filed 4/19. Indicted on two counts 5/2/19. Indicted in 6/19 on three more counts of alleged abuse in 2/99 and 6/00. Pled not guilty 7/18/19. Pled guilty in a plea deal in 11/20. Sentenced to 10 years in prison, and to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Suits settled.

Removed in 12/13 after Review Board investigated allegations of sexual harassment. Allegation in 11/16 of "sexual misconduct" with a "young female adolescent" in the 1980s. He admitted to his behavior. Sent in 1988 to Shalom Center in Houston for treatment. Arrested 6/11/18, charged with molesting and raping a girl in the late 1990s. His accuser was an altar server who said the abuse began when she was age 8 during confessions, and continued until she was age 17. On diocese's list 1/31/19. Trial in 7/19. Luna denied the charges at trial, but said he fathered a "secret baby" in Juarez. A witness testified that Luna raped her when she was age 11 and he was a seminarian in Alpine, TX. She said he would sneak into her home at night, and that she got pregnant and had an abortion. Another woman testified that Luna raped her in 1990 when she was age 30 and a St. Pius X church secretary. Found guilty 7/15/19. Sentenced to 18 years' prison and 10 years' probation, to run concurrently.

The bio for a book of stories and poems he authored describes Eckley as "an African American folk singer....public radio host...park ranger...priest...college missionary to the American Indians in Wyoming."

Madrid allegedly "mentored" the boy before molesting him on multiple occasions. Diocese denied any prior complaints against him. Suit settled at mediation in 7/2013. Another man filed suit in 8/2013 for abuse at age 8 at the same parish 1974-1975. On the Jesuits Central and Southern Province list 12/17/2018. On El Paso diocese's and San Antonio archdiocese's lists 1/31/2019. In San Antonio 1966-1970. Reported there in 1968 to have had "inappropriate contact" with a 9-year-old boy. Five additional accusers 2014-2019 alleged abuse in the late 1960s. Worked in New Orleans, LA in 1960-1961.

Fr. Jaime Madrid

Fr. Vincent R. Malatesta

Ordained for the Diocese of Paterson NJ in 1961, entered the Society of Jesus in 1979. Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits Central and Southern Province on its list 12/7/2018. Allegation to the Order in 1999 that Malatesta sexually abused a Dallas Jesuit College Prep student in the 1980s. Malatesta had been admonished by the Superior for having a student pose nude for a sketching and for swimming nude with students. There were also concerns about Malatesta's relationships with young men, including those he was mentoring. Deemed by Order in 1999 to not be a risk, kept in ministry. Removed from ministry in 2002. Left the Jesuits in 2004. On the Diocese of Dallas list 1/31/2019. On 2/27/2020 the Central and Southern Province Jesuits moved Malatesta's name from the category of those with single allegations against them to those with multiple allegations. Accused in a suit filed by multiple plaintiffs in 8/2019 against Dallas Prep and the Diocese. Abuse alleged of at least two students in the 1980s. One said he reported his abuse to the school in 1981, and nothing was done. The other said he was abused by Malatesta the following year. The suit settled in 3/2022. On the Atlanta archdiocese's list in 11/2020. Included in the GA PAC Report 3/24/2023.

Marin allegedly gave them alcoholic beverages and allowed them to watch an R-rated movie. After the boys went to sleep, Marin was said to have gotten into bed with them and attempted to "french kiss" his accuser. The boy stopped him but shortly began to exhibit signs of mental disturbance and was hospitalized. Parents filed suit on his behalf in 8/96. Settled 9/96 for $23K. Also assigned to Dunne Memorial Home for Boys. Died in 1996. Per news in 2005, McGill was accused in civil suits of the sexual abuse of minors. Settled. On diocese's list 1/31/2019. Accused in a 2/2023 lawsuit filed by two men of sexually abusing them as children at Dunne Memorial Home for Boys in the 1960s-early 1970s. The suit was filed against the Dallas diocese and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, who staffed the facility. Both said a Sr. Mary Bridgette would take each boy to a basement room, give them a cup of alcohol, removed their clothes and leave them alone in the dark before the abuse by McGill. One said Sr. Mary Bridgette would wake him up at night to say he did something wrong and deserved to be punished before leading him to the basement. The suit also names a Mother Ann Catherine.

McNulty was assigned to Holy Rosary Parish at the time of the alleged abuse. Another person told the Assistant Provincial in 1977, but at that time the girl and her family denied the abuse. McNulty was transferred to another assignment in 1980. He died in 1984 in WI. Included on the San Antonio archdiocese's list 1/31/2019. Included on the Marianists' 6/24/2020 list of accused. Mitchel was assistant pastor 1969-1973 at Sacred Heart parish, Muenster TX, in the Diocese of Fort Worth. In 2014, a lawsuit was filed by the complainant's husband against the Fort Worth diocese and the Benedictine's Subiaco Abbey in the Little Rock diocese. A settlement was approved on 1/23/15. Mitchel worked as a parish priest for many years in the Little Rock and Fort Worth dioceses, after training at Subiaco Abbey. He taught at the abbey for 10 years and at Corpus Christi Academy and Laneri High School in Fort Worth TX. Mitchel also traveled extensively, leading retreats and missions. He died on 3/7/82.

Mokarzel allegedly stalked and "finally sexually assaulted him." Removed from ministry by his Order. Retired without ministry in 1997. Living under supervision in 2019 at an Oblate's retirement facility in San Antonio. Said to have died in 2021.

Fr. Jeremy Myers

Ordained for the Benedictines. Became Dallas diocesan priest in 1996. Removed in 2018. In 10/18 the diocese reported to police an allegation that Myers abused a student in 1986 at Subiaco Catholic School in AR, when Myers was dean of the boy's dorm. The boy was expelled the next year and sent home to Dallas. Myers continued to sexually abuse the boy at the clergy house where he worked in Dallas. The headmaster at the boy's new Catholic school was told of the 'relationship' between the priest and the boy - Myers denied it. Per detectives, Myer's personnel file showed an allegation from a different victim, and no others. On diocese's list 1/31/19. Dallas police raided diocesan headquarters in 5/19, related to the Myers case and four others.

Also tried to grope a young faculty member at the school. Allegations deemed credible. Had also worked at Jesuit High schools in New Orleans, LA; Tampa, FL; El Paso, TX; Houston, TX.  Sent in 12/2003 to St. Ignatius Retreat House in Sandy Springs, GA, where he was allowed to reside under restrictions. Dismissed from the Jesuits in 2009. Died in Laguna Woods, CA in 2012. On Jesuit Central and Southern Provinces list 12/7/2018. (Noted to not be Bro. Thomas Naughton, SJ of Missouri Province.) Per the archdiocese on its list 1/2019, there were ten known allegations, of abuse beginning in 1962. Removed in 1964 and sent for treatment in GA. Not allowed to return to the San Antonio archdiocese. Accepted by the Savannah diocese in 1965. Removed in 1971 for abuse of a child. Returned to Ireland, more allegations there. Case sent by the San Antonio archdiocese in 2006 to the Vatican for possible laicization. Died in 2013. His obituary refers to him as "Fr. Mikey Joe O'Sullivan." On the Savannah diocese's list 11/8/2018. Included in the 3/24/2023 GA PAC Report.

Deacon James Orr

Deacon.Assigned 1997-2016 to Our Lady of the Atonement. Accused in 1992 or 1993, prior to ordination as a deacon, of molesting a boy in a neighborhood pool. Orr was a volunteer at Our Lady of the Atonement at the time. The parish pastor admitted in 2016 to having received the allegation in the early 1990s, and decided at the time that it was not credible. He did not inform the archbishop. Accused in 2007 of attempting to sexually abuse a boy in about 1995. Allegations in 12/15 that Orr sexually abused two boys in the 1990s. Orr resigned shortly thereafter. Faculties removed. Lawsuit in 2017 claimed abuse in 1993. Orr died in 2019.

Fr. Alejandro Ortega

Former Legionaries of Christ priest, incardinated into the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2/2021. The Archdiocese received an allegation in 6/2023 that Alejandro sexually abused a teenager. Removed from ministry in 8/2023. A private investigator informed the Archdiocese on 7/27/2023 that there was "sufficient evidence" of the abuse. It also found that Ortega had engaged in "sexually inappropriate and unwanted physical touch, usually with adult women." Ortega was assigned to St. Monica's in Converse at the time of his removal. Matter referred to the Vatican. No criminal charges.

It notes a credible allegation received in 2016. A lawsuit filed in 2019 alleges Ortiz sexually abused two children, who were siblings, from in 1982 to 1985, beginning when the children were ages 10 and 13. The children's mother allowed the boys to live with Ortiz in the rectory five days per week for their safety. The abuse is said to have occurred in the rectory, on trips to South Padre Island, and included plying the children with drugs and alcohol.

Fr. Javier Ortiz-Dietz

First accused in 1992. Removed, sent to treatment. Indicted in 1993 for abusing three altar boys over a two-year period. Convicted in 1994. Sentenced to three 20-year jail sentences (to run concurrently). At least ten civil suits were filed, four in 1993 and six in 1994. One victim died by suicide. Settlement for $4M with seven victims in 6/1998. A 1974 report from his Mexican college to the archdiocese warned that Ortiz-Dietz suffered from "marked sexual conflict," paranoia and delusions. Laicized in 2005. Released in 2014, deported to Mexico. In 2015 San Antonio Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSpS sent notice of Ortiz-Dietz' laicization to the Mexico Bishop' Conference and to the Archbishop of Puebla. Ortiz-Dietz was believed to be living in Puebla. Included on the archdiocese's list 1/31/2019, which notes 16 allegations.

Removed from ministry in 1/12 by his order. Paiz left the Fort Worth diocese in about 1987 and went on to work in CA and NV for many years. Worked in the Diocese of Fresno during much of 1995-2010. Transferred to his order's Provincial house in the Chicago area in 2010 after his alleged victim's complaints to Fort Worth. Lawsuit settled 11/21/12. Name included on the Springfield-Cape Girardeau diocese's list updated 4/1/19. On the San Bernardino diocese's list in 5/21, where he was assigned to parishes 1998-2002. Also on the Diocese of Fresno's 8/21 list of credibly accused.

Allegation discovered after a review of priest files per newly appointed Bishop Vann. Conflicting stories in 2/07 as to when abuse occurred and if it was once or ongoing.

Fr. Edmundo Paredes

Pastor of St. Cecila's in Oak Cliff for 27 years. On Priest Personnel Board per 2009 Catholic Directory. Diocese announced in 8/18 that Paredes was being investigated after allegations in 2/18 that he had molested three teen boys over 10 years prior. Investigated in 2017 after allegations he stole from the parish; admitted to financial misconduct; suspended in 6/17. Fled at that time, possibly to his native Philippines. Arrest warrant in 1/19 after a fourth accuser surfaced. On diocese's list 1/31/19. In 5/19 Dallas police raided diocesan headquarters and other church properties; the raid was related to the Paredes case, and four others.

Seminarian Juan Carlos Patino-Arango

Defendants named include Pope Benedict (then Cardinal Ratzinger). Pope dismissed 12/05. Settled in 2/08.

Fr. Robert R. Peebles, Jr.

Accused in 9/3/93 suit of raping a 14-year-old boy in 1984 at Ft. Benning, GA. Peebles was an Army chaplain 1982-84. Settled 2/10/98 in 3 other cases. In 1984 Peebles confessed to the assault and resigned from the military in lieu of prosecution, and was reassigned to a parish by the Dallas diocese. Records show he sexually abused 15-20 boys before, during, and after chaplaincy, starting in 1979. Worked at 5 assignments, twice after the diocese had knowledge. Removed and retired 1986. Laicized 1989. Died 4/04. On diocese's list 1/31/19.

Fr. Lawrence O. Peguero

Monsignor. Accused in a civil suit filed 6/30/10 of molesting three sisters, one as young as age 4, and their brother in the 1970s. Pegureo was assigned to Our Lady of St. John's in Houston at the time. He is said to have used threats, including that he would to kill their sisters. The siblings complained to the Church in 2007. They were offered, but refused, church-sponsored counseling. Peguero retired in 1993 and died in 11/00 at age 79. Another woman filed suit in 11/10 claiming abuse in the 1960s. Fr. Dennis L. Peterson

Accused in a civil lawsuit in 1999 of abusing a boy for 10 years, beginning when the boy was brought to him at age 14 for counseling related to abuse by a Catholic Boy Scout leader. Peterson was the Archdiocese's Special Youth Services director and chaplain at a county juvenile detention home. Placed on leave, allowed to live at a parish. Two brothers and their sister also joined the suit, alleging abuse by Peterson in the 1970s. The suit was dismissed in 3/2000 due to the statute of limitations. In Fall 1999 the Harris County Grand Jury refused to indict Peterson on a charge that he sexually abused the original boy; the boy died at age 30 in 2003 of a drug overdose. Accused in a 2005 lawsuit of abusing and raping a 7th grade boy in 1983. Peterson was laicized in 2005; allowed to live at a priests' retirement home. Died 7/12/2007. Included on the archdiocese's list of credibly accused 1/31/2019. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 3/2024 of abusing a boy, beginning in 1995 when the boy was age 8 and he and his father were homeless. Peterson allegedly plied the boy with money and gifts, then sexually abused him after giving him communion wine. The abuse is said to have continued for months until the boy's family left TX.

Pistone denied the allegations; internal investigation could not substantiate. Director of West Hills, CA Marianist community 2003-present as of 2/2009. Briefly at Province offices in St. Louis, MO in 2007. On Fort Worth diocese's list updated 10/9/2018. It notes that he was removed from ministry in 2005 and died 12/6/2017. Fr. Alfredo Prado

Child welfare agency in Costa Rica were investigating circumstances of two minors living on the grounds of the "Sanctuary" operated by a "doomsday group." On Corpus Christi diocese's list 1/31/19. On Amarillo and Victora diocese's and San Antonio archdiocese's lists 1/31/19. "Event" alleged to have occurred in the Amarillo diocese when Prado was conducting a mission. Per 1989 Catholic Directory, Pucar was working in Victoria Diocese while on duty outside the Beaumont Diocese. Retired in 2000. Moved to Houston. Helped out in area parishes. Died 1/17/12. On Beaumont diocese's list 1/31/19. It notes faculties revoked 6/06, ordered by Vatican 8/07 to a life of prayer and penance.

Fr. Robert C. Ramon

Civil litigation filed 7/93. Ramon was removed from ministry and resigned from the priesthood in 2002. He died 8/13/14. On the archdiocese's list 1/31/19.

Suit filed by eleven men; settled in 11/06 for undisclosed amount. Building named after Reilly at former church was renamed as part of settlement. Seven more victims later came forward and settled without litigation in 2009 and 2010. More claims settled in 5/11, 6/11, 6/12, 4/13 and 3/14. About thirty known accusers as of 2014. Fr. Rudolf John Renteria

Barred from ministry in 2002. Bishop asked Vatican to laicize him. Suit filed 3/09 claiming 1981 abuse. Settled 6/30/10. Laicized 12/10/10.

Fr. Joaquin V. Resma

From the Philippines. Pastor of Our Lady of Health in Las Cruces NM 1978-83. (El Paso diocese until Las Cruces NM diocese formed in 1982.) Member of Society of St. John Vianney. Died 5/1/83. Accused in a 6/18 lawsuit of sexually abusing an altar boy in 1978 at Our Lady of Health. Four alleged victims joined the suit, which settled. Per the parish's website, Resma and his brother, also a priest, were magicians who "worked very well with young children and youth." A lawsuit filed in 12/18 claimed Resma raped a 10-year-old girl on multiple occasions in the late 1970s. His accuser said that when she age was 8 or 9, Resma would kiss her "like I was an adult." She said he would have girls sleepover three or four at a time in the rectory living room, then take them one at a time to his bedroom.  Another suit was filed in 2021 and was set to go to trial as of 8/21.

Several boys at a Catholic high school in Dallas and a Plano church accused Richard of harassment in 1993. Their attorney provided Bishop Grahman with sworn statements. Grahmann reassigned Richard to a Rockwall parish in 1994 but the priest was never reported to police. He resigned from his parish in 2005 after a dispute involving a parish music minister who was on probation for indecent exposure.

Removed quietly in 2002 after two brothers gave detailed written complaints to the diocese alleging abuse by Rovira in the late 1970s-early 1980s. Their ages at the time ranged from 9 to early teens. He admitted to abusing one but not the other. Faculties removed. Two other men made complaints in 2003. Although still a Brownsville priest, as of 2005 Rovira had been living in Mexico since 2002 and was in active ministry, teaching at Universidad del Noreste de Mexico in the Diocese of Matamoros. Resigned in 2005 after news reports that he was seen on TV con-celebrating a mass for a new bishop at the cathedral in Matamoros. On the Brownsville Diocese's list 1/31/2019. He denied the allegations. Ruppert became a priest of the Diocese of Victoria when it was established in 1982. The diocese deemed the allegations not credible. Remains in active ministry in 2019. Accused of abusing a 15-year-old boy in the mid-1980s in Ferris, TX. The boy's mother suspected abuse at the time and told diocesan officials. The boy wouldn't cooperate, so no action. In 1998, the then young adult alleged victim came forward to the diocese. His brother said Saldana would show altar boys sexually explicit films in his rectory bedroom, while lying on his bed in a robe or underwear. Saldana left his parish in Bonham, saying he was going to a clinic for treatment of medical problems. The Diocese later admitted that he was in a treatment center for sexually abusive priests in St. Louis, but that he still retained all his priestly faculties. Worked the Dioceses of Dallas, Ft. Worth and Tyler. Was also a military chaplain. On the Dallas Diocese's list 1/31/2019. Laicization pending. Included in 4/2019 on the Tyler Diocese's list.

Surrendered to police in DC in 4/1993 after allegations that in 1/1993 he had sex with a boy he was tutoring. Sentenced to one year prison, suspended, and one year probation. Removed from ministry. Had also been accused in AL. Returned after 1993 to his native Bar Harbor, ME. On the Washington DC archdiocese's list 10/15/2018. On Galveston Houston's list 1/31/2019.

While reviewing files in 2002, the San Antonio archdiocese found a 1985 allegation that Sandoval attempted abuse of a teenage boy. No action until 1993, when he was sent for evaluation to Programa Genesis in Mexico for six month. He received good report and was reassigned in the Archdiocese of San Antonio in 1995. Name included on the archdiocese's list 1/31/2019, noting six allegations. Case referred to the Vatican for possible laicization. Appeared in 2019 to be pastor of Nuestra Senora de Belen, Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, in the Diocese of Guadalajara.

Auxiliary Bishop and Chancellor. In 6/19 someone sent letters to the archdiocese claiming that Sheltz molested her in 1971, when she was a minor. She did not include contact information, but did give a name that the archdiocese said they could not find. The letter-writer also expressed anger that the archdiocese was going to transfer her pastor, Rev. Hai Dang, to another parish. She said if the transfer occurred, she would go public with her accusation. The archdiocese stated its belief that the claims were false, but did report it to police and Children's Protective Services, as well as the Apostolic Nuncio to the U.S. In 10/19 the archdiocese announced that the Vatican found the allegation to be "manifestly unfounded." Sheltz was returned to ministry.

A woman claimed in a 1991 or 1992 of lawsuit of abuse as a child by Sister Agnes, a teacher at the girl's elementary school, Immaculate Heart of Mary in San Antonio. The girl allegedly told at least two priests, both Claretians, during confessions at the time of the abuse. She claims she repressed her memories until an injury and subsequent CAT scan in early 1990. The suit was filed within two years of 1990 but lower court dismissed. Appeals court affirmed the dismissal it in 2/94.

(The 1970 Official Catholic Directory, which reflects 1969-1970, confirms that Walsh was there.) He said Walsh would fondle him and give him money repeatedly over a two-year period. He said he confronted Walsh 30 years prior, and that the priest both denied the abuse and asked for forgiveness. On the Covington diocese's list 7/31/2020; assigned in 1971 to Christ the King in Lexington. On Lexington's list in 8/2020, noting he was at Lexington Catholic High 1971-1974 and that there are two, possibly three, known victims in Lexington. Walsh would take children to a lake house.

The man said that Wilkes was part of a group of priests who would cross the river into Mexico and have "their way with" prostitutes and children. The Official Catholic Directory shows that Wilkes was an active priest 1950-1956, after which his name no longer appears. News articles show that Wilkes became Unitarian minister in 1958, having worked as of 1966 in Boston MA, Washington DC, Albuquerque NM and Dallas TX. He died in 1979 in McAllen TX.
