Parish priest, teacher, Army chaplain. Worked at the diocesan youth camp. Accused in a 1993 letter to Bishop Gettelfinger of sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy in 1976. The boy had been hospitalized for depression after his father died, and Allen became his counselor. Allen admitted the abuse in 1994, was sent for treatment, then returned to ministry. His accuser came forward again 5/5/2002; Allen was not removed until 6/2002.  Working in 2004 in a civilian commissary in Kuwait, on contract with the U.S. Military. He was seen saying mass but the Archdiocese of Military Services said he had no privileges. Included on the Diocese's 2/22/2019 list of credibly accused.

Resigned from ministry in 1995 to marry and start a family. Sued in 2004 by a man alleging Amsden and another priest abused him in the 1970s. Cleared by Review Board in 3/06.

Sued in 2004. Accused with another (former) priest of abuse of a youth 1972-77. Spent 18 months on leave before cleared by Review Board and reinstated in 3/06.

Associate parish pastor in KY, WI, IN, NM, NE. Pastor in IN, OH, MI, GA. Accused in 1991 of "plant[ing] a big wet kiss" on a female parishioner of Holy Cross in Lansing MI, after inviting her to go for a car ride in 1989 or 1990. The woman said a neighbor told her the same thing had happened to at least two other women in the parish. Belen retired in 2001 after a stroke. A lawsuit filed in 2003 claimed that Belen molested and raped a girl, ages 5-10, several times in the 1970s in Terre Haute, IN.  The woman said she reported the abuse to the Franciscan provincial who told her that Belen had retired and wasn't a threat to children. When she discovered that Belen was residing at Holy Cross Parish she called the Province to object. She was told that Belen would be removed from the parish the following day. The Diocese said the accusation was "totally out of character for Fr. Belen." Belen claimed in his legal response that too much time had passed and the matter should be handled by the church rather than the state. He died 12/11/2004. The suit was still active as of 2/2007.

Died in 1990. Accused in a 2/04 civil suit of sexually abusing a boy at St. Mary School in the late 1950s. Suit alleges abuse occurred at the school and on trips to home of Blackwell's parents in Indianapolis. A second civil suit filed in 8/05 alleged that Blackwell abused another youth between 1956 and 1961 at places including St. Mary's in sacristy and the rectory. On archdiocese's 10/12/18 list. Noted to have eight victims, in 1958 and 1964-68.

Professed final vows in 1971 for the Brothers of the Holy Cross. He had been assigned for several years to the St. Charles Boys Home in Milwaukee, in charge of a dorm. Blume worked at the Home until 1978. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend in 1980. In 1991 a man filed suit, alleging sexual abuse as a boy by Blume 1982-1985, starting when he was 14. The man had first came forward in 1988 or 1989; Bishop D'Arcy forced Blume to resign in 1989 after he completed therapy. The suit settled in 11/1992. A second man filed suit in 1992 claiming Blume sexually abused him 1985-1987, beginning when he was 14. Blume was laicized 6/23/2007. Criminal charges were filed in 8/2009. In 1/2010 Blume pleaded guilty to the sexual abuse in Milwaukee of two boys, one in 1979 and the other 1982-1984. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. An appeal was denied in 11/2012. His name is included on the Ft. Wayne diocese 9/18/2018 list of credibly accused, which notes five credible allegations. On the WI sex offender registry.

Removed from public ministry in 8/88 after report to diocese of past abuse of a young relative. Admitted he took boys from church on camping trips, supplied alcohol and porn, and played sex games with them. Sent to treatment. Said he quit abusing in 1986. Admitted being addicted to children. Moved to AZ. Laicized 3/27/09. On diocese's list 9/28/18.

In 6/2021 the Brebeuf Jesuit High School president announced that Sheehy had been credibly accused of sexually abusing a student in 1978, while a resident of the Brebeuf Jesuit Community. School leadership was notified of the allegation in 2/2020. The Jesuits Midwest Province list in 1/2022 revealed multiple allegations agains Sheehy, with incidents 1967, 1975, 1984-1988 while Chaplain of the Marion County Sheriff's Department and residing at Breubeuf. Sheehy entered the order in 1959. He was the Brebeuf High's president 1987-1992. Died 10/23/1992.

Parish priest. Worked at the diocesan youth camp where he was co-director in 1992. Named publicly as credibly accused by the Diocese on its list 2/22/2019. One credible allegation noted. Admitted to having sexually abused minors prior to his ordination as a deacon. Removed from public ministry 3/14/2014.

First named as accused publicly by the Gary diocese on its list released 8/27/2018. Noted to have one allegation against him. Died 1/12/1976.

First named publicly as accused on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list. Noted to have six credible allegations against him. Removed from parish ministry in 11/1989. One accuser said he was age 12 when the abuse occurred in 1980 at St. Charles Borromeo in Fort Wayne. Buescher was laicized 5/14/1991 and, at some point, moved to Indianapolis. Beginning in 2001 he worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Retired 9/28/2018, ten days after the allegations were made public.

Notre Dame professor, former head of the Theology Department. Resigned his tenured position and position as Provost in 1991 after allegations by male students that he subjected them to sexual advances while counseling them. At least one allegation was received in 1991 and another was received "considerably before 1991." Living as of 2003 in a Holy Cross priests' residence in Phoenix, without privileges. Died 4/10/2015.

"Fr. Skip." First named publicly as accused on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list. One known credible allegation. "Terminated as Pastor and Resigned as Member of the Roman Catholic Church" 5/9/1987. Laicized 6/23/2007. In 1991 Carsten became pastor of a St. Mary Magdala Spiritual Center in Fort Wayne, part of a non-Roman Catholic "Orthodox-Catholic Church of America." He died 3/27/2009.

Placed on leave 4/15/2010 after recent allegations that he had engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor in around 1991 while he was an associate priest at St. Patrick's in Chesterton. Chase denied the allegations in a written letter to parishioners. The diocesan response team said the allegation appeared to have merit. Chase was laicized 1/4/2016. His name is included on the Diocese's list released 8/27/2018.

Arrested in a nationwide child pornography sting in 5/1996. Removed from public ministry and placed under supervision by his Order. Had been a moral theology professor at St. Meinrad School of Theology for 17 years before resigning in 8/1996. Pleaded guilty in 12/1996 to a federal charge of receiving child pornography in the mail. Sentenced to one year and one day in a federal penitentiary, a $3000 fine, and two years' supervised release. Name appears on the Carmelites' 11/22/2020 list of accused. Separated from the Order in 1996. From 1997-2011 he had no ministry, chose exclaustration and was a Federal Facility Prisoner in KY. He died 1/13/2011. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which shows at least one "reported survivor," of abuse.

Removed in 1990 after allegations that he sexually abused a boy in OH. Had been living for 11 years at the Servants of the Paraclete treatment facility in Jemez Springs, NM; not allowed to leave without supervision. Per one source in 2002, Clauss was an "incurable pedophile" and had recently been soliciting money from former parishioners who believed he was doing mission work on Indian reservations. Placed on administrative leave in 12/1990. Removed from public ministry in 7/1992. Another allegation surfaced in 5/2002. Clauss died 10/11/2003. Name included on the Diocese's list 2/22/2019, which notes 10 credible allegations and that he admitted to at least 1.

Two sisters filed suit in 1/04 alleging sexual abuse by Curry 1976-79, when they were ages 9-12 and 12-15. The abuse allegedly occurred while he was assigned to St. Jude's in Spencer, IN. Assigned to Tell City, Indianapolis, Shelbyville parishes; pastor St. Jude in Spencer 1976-86. Transferred in 1986 to the Pensacola-Tallahasse FL diocese. Died 2/7/91. On the Indianapolis archdiocese's list 10/12/18. It notes seven known victims. Included on the Pensacola-Tallahassee list of credibly accused.

Assigned to Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Carmel IN when suspended from public ministry 3/11/22 due to allegations of "inappropriate conduct with a minor." The alleged victim wrote two letters in 2021 to the diocese about De Oreo's behavior while he was a teen and parishioner of St. Alphonsus Liguori in Zionsville in 2018 and 2019. The youth claimed he was sexually harrassed and groomed by the priest. De Oreo filed suit against his accuser 4/4/22.

Accused of sexual abuse of both boys and girls 1948-1969. Died 8/25/72. First civil suit filed 2003. Eventually 23 plaintiffs participated. Suit dismissed on statute of limitations 6/03/06. Included on archdicoese's list 10/12/18.

Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits Midwest Province on its list 12/17/2018. It notes a single allegation of abuse occurring in 1990, while assigned to Brebeuf Jesuit Prep in Indianapolis. Permanently removed from public ministry. Included on the Indianapolis archdiocese's list updated in 12/2018. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Suspended in 9/18 after a report to the archdiocese of sexual misconduct, dating back several decades.The report was relayed to Indiana Child Protective Services. Assignments included teacher at Bishop Chatard High School, priest-moderator at St. Maurice in Napolean and pastor of Nativity parish in Indianapolis. On archdiocese's list 10/12/18. Noted to have one victim who was age 18 in 1987 "when at least the abuse occurred, but was a minor when the "emotional aspects of the relationship began."

Eder was the subject of a sexual harassment lawsuit filed in 1997 by a female coworker, which the Diocese settled in 1998. Sent for counseling for alcohol-related problems, per news in 1998. Eder's niece also told the Diocese in 1995 and 2002 that he had fondled her several times as a child. Active priest as of 6/07. Shown as "retired" by 11/10.

In 2002, a woman alleged abuse by Ehrman as a girl beginning in 1953 or 1954. Her son said he reported the abuse in 1998 but diocesan officials claimed they never received it. Both mother and son met with officials again in 2002 but received no official response. Another woman said Ehrman exposed himself to her in 1968 and kissed her while another woman says he fondled her. In 11/2002, Bishop D'Arcy stated that the allegations of abuse against Ehrman "appear to be credible." Ehrman retired in 1970 and died 8/7/1983. Included on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list, which notes eight credible allegations against Ehrman, received after his death.

Arrested and then placed on leave 8/2005 after allegations he sexually molested a 19-year-old man who had the mental capacity of a 9-year-old. The abuse occurred numerous times in early 2005. Englert claimed the sex was consensual. He later pleaded guilty to 2 counts of abuse. Sentenced in 10/2006 to 2 terms of 1.5 years in the Dubois County Jail. Received another 3 years in 2/2007. Released in 1/2008. Registered sex offender. Not in compliance 2/2010. Listed as on "administrative leave" per the diocesan website 2/2/2009. Included on the Diocese's list of credibly accused 2/22/2019, which notes that Engert was laicized 10/1/2009.

Named as accused on the Lafayette IN diocese's list 9/28/18. Taught Latin and Greek at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer for almost thirty years. Hospital chaplain in Detroit. Died 5/15/79.

"Bernie." Parish priest, Teens Encounter Christ chaplain, diocesan vocations director, vicar general, diocesan administrator. Placed on administrative leave in 4/2022 due to an allegation of sexual misconduct dating back 20 years. Etienne denied the allegation. Returned to active ministry in 11/2022 after the diocesan Review Board determined that the allegation was unsubstantiated.

Removed as chaplain at St. Vincent Hospital after allegations that he sexually abused a young girl for 4 years beginning in 1974, when she was age 5. Accuser reached confidential settlement with Diocese in 12/97 for counseling and legal expenses. Included on archdiocese's 10/12/18 list. Noted to have five victims, allegedly abused in 1977 and 1985. Evrard died in 12/27/08.

Suspended in 9/2018 after the Diocese received a report of sexual misconduct by Fleck occurring "decades ago." The Diocese notified Child Protective Services. Fleck worked in schools and parishes in Vincennes, Petersburg, Montgomery, Oakland City and Bicknell. Also, he resided in Haubstadt. He allegedly solicited two boys, who were students at Vincennes Rivet High School, in the 1980s. Fleck denied the allegations. His name is not included on the Diocese's 2/22/2019 list of accused. He remained on leave in 8/2019.

Pastor of Most Precious Blood in Fort Wayne. The Diocese announced on 12/14/2019 that it had received a credible allegation that Gaughan sexually abused a minor over 20 years prior, while assigned to St. Anthony de Padua in South Bend. Placed on leave. Case referred to the Vatican. Added to diocese's list of credibly accused 1/18/2020.

First named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its 9/18/2018 list. Noted to have three credible allegations against him, all received after his death. The Diocese's list in 9/2021 shows five credible allegations. Retired in 7/1982. Died 4/24/2000.

First accused publicly on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list. Noted to have nine credible allegations against him. The Diocese's list in 9/2021 shows 12 allegations. Retired in 4/1988. Suspended from public ministry 3/25/2002. Laicized 2/8/2008. Died 7/27/2011.

Removed in 6/2002 after an allegation of misconduct with a minor. In 9/2002 he was scheduled to return to ministry, per the Bishop, although the Review Board had not seen the psychological evaluation.The Board found that there was "reasonable cause" to believe Graehler took part in "inappropriate conduct," but that the conduct did not constitute sexual misconduct. Graehler retired in 11/2002 and died  2/19/2016.

In 12/2003, Grass admitted to molesting a preteen girl at Holy Angels Cathedral in the late 1960s. Placed on leave. She told the Diocese in 11/2003 and the review board investigated. Grass was in the hospital for cancer treatment when the news broke. He was no longer allowed to live in his parish residence. The bishop said he believed that the girl was Grass's only victim. Grass had Monsignor status when he died 7/2/2010. Included on The Diocese's list of credibly accused released 8/27/2018.

First named publicly as accused on Indianapolis archdiocese's list 10/12/18. Noted to have one victim, abuse allegedly occurring in 1971. On Lake Charles diocese's list 4/11/19; multiple victims noted, occurring 1983-87 in Lake Arthur, LA and Port Arthur, TX. Principal of St. Maria Goretti High School in Lake Arthur. Diocese received allegations 1991 and 1995. Removed from ministry by Order. Died in 1993.

Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list 2/22/2019. It notes two credible allegations. Removed from ministry by the Benedictines' St. Meinrad Archabbey in 2002, after St. Meinrad's review board deemed the allegations credible.

Named in a news report in 9/2018 as having "possible" allegations against him. Not included on the diocese's list of  "diocesan priests and members of religious orders who have been credibly accused of abuse by the diocese, after the cases were vetted by the diocesan review board." Horvath died 9/20/2000.

The Diocese announced on 9/27/2021 that on 9/19/2021 it had received notice of an allegation that Huneck "was engaging in sexual and other misconduct, including that with a minor." He resigned from his position as pastor of St. Paul of the Cross in Columbia City and as chaplain of Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne, and was suspended from all ministry by the Diocese. His name was added to the Diocese's list of credibly accused. He was criminally charged 10/8/2021 with sexual abuse involving two female teenagers, one a minor. The two knew him from his role at Bishop Dwenger. Huneck allegedly invited them on two occasions to his parish home, gave them alcohol, groped them after he became intoxicated and, on the second occasion, exposed himself. In a 12/2021 plea deal, Huneck agreed to plead guilty to the felony charges of child solicitation and sexual battery if the misdemeanor charges against him were dropped. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced in 3/2022 to 180 days' home detention and two years' probation.

Priest of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma. Assigned to St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Merrillville when placed on leave in 10/2018. Had been accused in 2004 of sexually abusing a girl between 1979 and 1983. Church investigated in 2004, said not enough evidence. Deemed credible in 2018. In 8/2018 Hutsko claimed he was attacked by an unknown person inside his church and that the assailant yelled, "This is for all the kids!" The FBI investigated it as a potential hate crime. The 'incident' was found to be fabricated by Hutsko. The Eparchy of Parma announced in 8/2020 that Hutsko was permanently banned from public ministry. He was ordered to live a life of prayer and penance.

From India. Arrived in Gary as a visiting priest in 1978. First named publicly as credibly accused by the Gary diocese on its list released 8/27/2018, with six allegations. In 3/2002 the Diocese received a report of abuse by Kavungal in 1982. He was assigned 1981-1984 to Ss. Peter and Paul in Merrillville. He reportedly returned to India by 11/1985, working at schools until 1998. In 9/2000 he went to Sweden, where a woman accused him of sexual harassment; he left Sweden in 1/2004. From 2004-2005 Kavungal was director of a school in Kenya. He returned to India in 2005, where he was Superior of a school until 2008 in Chalakudy, and had the same position until 2001 in New Mumbai. 

Accused in 1989 of abuse of a youth who had just turned 18. Had known the boy since he was a child. Youth reported it to Archdiocese immediately but nothing done. Complained again in 2002; Kelley sent to St. Luke's in MD for treatment. Placed on leave 8/02. Diocesan investigation did not clear Kelley who did admit to misconduct with adults. On archdiocese's 10/12/18 list. Noted to have two victims, allegedly abused in 1990 and 1992.

On diocese's list 10/1/18 of those with substantiated allegations against them of child sexual abuse. Removed from public ministry in 7/12. Laicized 4/17/21.

Resigned in 2003 as president of Loyola University in New Orleans after allegations that he sexually abused a student at Brebeuf Jesuit Prep in Indianapolis, where he was principal 1986-1988. Prior to New Orleans, Knoth worked at universities in Washington DC and Chicago. The abuse is alleged to have occurred in 1986. He denied it. Order deemed complaint credible. Privileges removed. As of 1/2007 Knoth was working in private business in Sarasota, FL. Laicized 8/29/2009. On the Indianapolis archdiocese's list 10/12/2018. On the New Orleans archdiocese's list 11/2/2018. On Jesuits Central and Southern Province list 12/7/2018. On Jesuits Midwest list 12/17/2018. Multiple allegations noted. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Former principal of Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne. First named publicly as accused on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list. Two known credible allegations noted. Per the Diocese's list updated in 9/2021, there were three credible allegations. Resigned as pastor 7/8/1998. Ordered to cease all ministry 4/16/1999. Retired 5/1/1999. Faculties removed 3/21/2003. Ordered to live Life of Prayer and Penance 11/8/2005. Died 3/25/2013.

At a Senate hearing in 2/2019 a man testified that when he was age 9 and a student at Christ the King school, Kuper sexually abused him multiple times. The man's family reportedly informed the Diocese of the allegations in 8/2018. Kuper was pastor of Christ the King 1977-1987. Assignments also included St. Agnes and Holy Rosary, and St. Bernard in Rockport. He was also superintendent of Rex Mundi High School at some point and diocesan superintendent 1972-1977. Retired in 2006. Died 11/13/2012. Name not included on the Diocese's list of accused 2/22/2019. The Diocese announced in 6/20 that it could not substantiate the allegations.

Accused of an "improper physical relationship" with a 14-year-old boy in 1981. In 1998 he admitted to soliciting sex from his own 17-year-old nephew. The Diocese did not tell authorities. Sent for treatment in 1998, reassigned in 1999. Info became public in 2002 when the nephew came forward after Kurzendoerfer was removed from his parish. Sent for therapy again 2002 after violating restrictions. Moved to Nashville in 2002; worked there until 2004 when Kurezendorfer's boss learned of his past. Included on the Diocese's list 2/22/2019, which notes four credible allegations and that he admitted to two. Laicized 11/1/2009.

Arrested in 2002. Accused of sexually abusing boys in the Ft. Wayne-South Bend IN diocese and the Phoenix AZ diocese. Denied the allegations. Documents show that LeBrun's order knew of his abuse of children as early as 1987, the year he was transferred to AZ. Returned to IN in 1993. Resigned from his parish in 1999, sent to Southdown in Toronto for treatment. Convicted in 2005 in AZ; sentenced in 2006 to 111 years in prison. Laicized in 2008. Five lawsuits which name LeBrun as an abuser were settled by the Phoenix Diocese for a total of $75K. Conviction upheld by AZ Court of Appeals in 7/2009. Included on Ft. Wayne-South Bend diocese's 9/18/2018 list. One known allegation there. On order's list 6/12/2019.

Former principal of Huntington Catholic High School. Placed on leave in 12/2011 from his assignment at St. Joseph Hessen Cassel parish in Fort Wayne after a recent allegation that he had had "contact with a minor," about age 16, in approximately 1997. Lombardi was assigned to St. Louis Besancon from 1986 to July 1997. Police were unable to investigate because no victim had come forward. His accuser wanted to remain anonymous. Included on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list. Noted to have been removed from public ministry 8/9/2015, with one credible allegation against him. Died 12/28/2017.

A woman said in 2003 that Luczak molested her at age 10 on several occasions in the summer of 1969, at her grandmother's lake house near a Holy Cross retreat house. She told her mom, who told a doctor and the police. Nothing was done. The mom then told a priest; Luczak was sent to CA. The alleged victim thought Luczak was going to a monastery, but he was placed at a high school. Luczak died at age 38 in 1970 in San Francisco, CA. The Order said there was nothing in his personnel file regarding abuse. Included on the Order's list 6/12/2019. Added to the Fort Wayne-South Bend diocese's list 1/18/2020. Included in the IL Attorney General's 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report (with an incorrect death year).

Two men filed civil suits in 1992 and 1993 against the Diocese and Mahoney. The first plaintiff claimed Mahoney "assaulted, battered and raped" him 1981-1983 as a child at an elementary school in South Bend; the second claimed abuse 1970-1972 at a school in Mishawaka. The suits were dismissed in 12/1993 and 2/1994 "with prejudice." No reasons were provided. Resigned from ministry 6/15/1993. Laicized 7/25/2006. Included on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list, which notes four credible allegations.

Suspended in 2/19 by the archdiocese after it received an allegation that Marcotte sexually abused a teenage boy in 2016. Criminally charged in 10/19 with child solicitation, vicarious sexual gratification, and dissemination of matter harmful to minors. Archdiocese was sued in 7/20 by insurance company for failure to disclose allegations against Marcotte. Pleaded guilty in 3/22 to the of dissemination of matter harmful to minors. To be sentenced 4/7/22. Plea deal rejected by a judge in 4/22. Sentenced in a plea deal in 11/22 to a year of home detention followed by 18 months' probation. He was not required to register as a sex offender. 

Native of India. Worked in Burma and San Francisco, then Indianapolis beginning 1981. Incardinated 1986. Charged in 1998 with forgery and theft, accused of stealing around $14K from St. Joseph parish in Shelbyville. Charges dropped when he agreed to repay some of the money. Retired 2009. Suspension announced by the archdiocese 8/30/18 after it received an allegation that Maung abused a child 1993-97. Maung denied the allegation. Included on archdioces's list 10/12/18.

Named publicly as credibly accused by the Diocese of Owensboro on its list in 5/22. Worked in the diocese off and on 1983-1996. Also had assignments in the Diocese of Evansville and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Per the Owensboro list, there was one allegation of abuse, occurring while Messick was in Indianapolis. Messick was a teacher and parish priest, and he served on the the Tribunals for the Diocese of Owensboro and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. He died in 2011.

Retired in 7/2003. Removed from public ministry 12/18/2006. Died in 7/26/2008. Name released in 8/2018 by Bishop Rhoades as accused. In 2015 a 60-year-old woman told the Diocese that Miller sexually abused her over a 5-year period in the 1960s, beginning when she was age 6. Her grandmother was a housekeeper in the the St. Joseph rectory in Mishawaka. Per the Diocese, there are credible allegations against Miller from three other people. Included on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list, which notes two credible allegations. The Diocese's updated list in 9/2021 shows four credible allegations.

Moved several times over 10 years. Removed in 1981 after a woman complained of abuse of her son. "Relieved" by Archbishop O'Meara in 1984. Youth whose mother reported the 1981 abuse died by suicide before age 20. Accused of abuse of many youths before 1984. Gave them marijuana and alcohol. Named in 13 suits filed 2005-06. Admitted abuse of at least 5 in deposition. Diocese knew by 1976. One claim settled 5/10 for $199K. Original plaintiff settled 9/10. Accused in 2002 of molesting two teenage brothers in the 1970s. Complaints had been made previously about abuse of one of the brothers; nothing done until second one came forward. Resigned from ministry in 2003 as part of settlement. Included on archdiocese's list 10/12/18. Noted to have four victims, allegedly abused in 1974. Died 11/29/12.

Professor of psychology and theology. Wrote self-help books popular with adolescent girls. Sued in 2003. Accused of abuse of 7 girls in the 1960s and 1970s. Settlement with 6 (2 suits) in 10/2005. Named in another suit filed in  10/2006. A woman claimed he abused her in 1975 or 1976 when she was a Loyola University student. A civil suit filed in 11/2008 alleged that Powell fondled and abused a girl, age 16-17, at Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach, FL when he conducted a seminar there. Per the Province's list revised 1/21/2020, abuse is alleged to have occurred in 1963 while Powell was a visiting retreat director at St. Mary's College of Notre Dame University. Died 9/24/2009. Included on the Detroit archdiocese's list of credibly accused 6/10/2019. On Ft. Wayne-South Bend's list in 12/2020. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes at least 4 "reported survivors," of abuse in 1963 in IN, 1966-1967 in IL, 1967 in IL, and 1967 in FL. The Order's list updated 10/30/2023 reflects this.

From the Philippines. Pleaded guilty in 1993 to three misdemeanors for strip-searching young boys in Indianapolis after they set off stink bombs in the parish school. Sentenced to an 18-month suspended sentence and 15 months' probation. Was moved to Chicago and then to the Diocese of San Bernardino, CA. Placed on leave in 4/2002. Allowed to return to restricted duty with the Order in 2003. Included on the San Bernardino diocese's list in 10/2018; noted to be permanently banned from ministry in the diocese. Died in 2021. Included on the Society of the Divine Word's Chicago and Western Provinces lists. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Worked in Uganda and Kenya 1967-2002, where he was a well-known soccer coach. Returned to Provincial House in South Bend in 2001. Removed without privileges 6/10/2013 from Saint Joseph's in Hessen Cassel after recent credible allegation that he had sexually abused a boy in Africa about 20 years previously. When confronted by the Diocese, Ryan admitted the allegations were true. Included on the Order's list 6/12/2019, which notes multiple allegations received in 2013 of sex abuse occurring in the 1980s in Africa. It also said that Ryan was in a long-term treatment facility without access to minors. He died 12/29/2021 at Holy Cross House in Notre Dame, IN.

Accused in a 2002 civil suit of abuse of a 15-year-old girl in the 1960s. Removed from ministry in 2003. Suit settled in 6/05 in exchange for publishing statements from plaintiff and Archbishop Buechlein in the archdiocesan newspaper. At least one other woman alleged abuse. Included on archdiocese's 10/12/18 list. Noted to have five victims, allegedly abused 1964-67.

Died 2/16/1988. Allegations of abuse by Schroeder 1947-1975 at Holy Family parish were made public 8/18/2007. Bishop Gettelfinger stated that he knew of allegations in 1996 but recently learned that the "scope is greater than we knew." By 8/31/2007 there were claims of abuse of at least 10 boys and girls. Schroeder began as a priest of the then-Diocese of Indianapolis. His first parish was in Lawrence IN, near Cincinnati, now in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Included on the Diocese of Evansville's list 2/22/2019.

Accused in 2002 of fondling two girls in the 1960s. Removed in 6/2002. Schroering's accusers were asked to meet with a psychologist who was to make a report to the Diocesan Review Board. In 9/2002 the Board considered one claim and recommended that Schroering be "immediately" reinstated. The other claim was not considered because the girl was 18 at the time of the alleged abuse. Retired in 6/2003 due to "illness." Died 6/1/2005. At one parish, admitted abuser Fr. Mark Kurzendoerfer was Schroering's assistant pastor.

First publicly accused by the Diocese on its list in 10/2018, which notes two credible allegations of the sexual abuse of minors, occurring in 1965 and 1974. Schutt was assigned to St. Monica in Mishawaka 1965-4/1968, St. John the Baptist in Fort Wayne 4/1968 then moving in 6/1968 to St. Patrick's in Fort Wayne. He joined the Army National Guard as chaplain in 6/1971 and was assigned 7/1/1971 to Sacred Heart in Fort Wayne. From 4/15 to 12/31/1974 Schutt worked in the Diocese of LaCross WI. He was laicized 5/9/1975.

High school principal. Head of Catholic Schools beginning in 1970. Resigned and retired in 1/2014 after the Diocese received an allegation that Seculoff of sexually abused a minor about 44 years prior. The Review Board deemed the allegation credible. Matter referred to Rome. As of 1/27/2014 three more accusers had come forward with credible allegations. Seculoff was removed from public ministry 10/13/2015. His name is included on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list, which notes five credible allegations. The Diocese's list in 9/2021 shows six credible allegations.  In 1/2025 it shows that Seculoff had been sentenced in 11/2022 to a Life of Prayer and Penance. In its judgment, the Vatican stated "he was found guilty of sexual abuse of minors on many occasions and solicitation to violations of the sixth commandment in the Sacrament of Confession on many occasions." He died 2/2/2025.

Per a 1995 civil suit, Sego abused a girl when she was in elementary school 27 years prior. Suit dismissed on SOL. Admitted exposing himself to one young girl and having another undress and dance for him. Removed from ministry in 1994. Lived under restrictions in a priest retirement home near St. Louis until his death 9/7/98. Abuse allegations involve young girls, teenagers, and pregnant girls. Lived and traveled with Bishop Higi for many years. On diocese's list 9/28/18.

First named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese on its list 10/12/2018. Noted to have three victims who were allegedly abused 1976-1988. Pastor of St. John the Apostle in Bloomington 1982-1995. Removed from ministry in 2003. Per his obituary, he was granted early retirement in 2007. Died 5/2/2012.

Ordained for the Diocese of Warsaw, Poland. Worked in the Gary IN diocese 1974-1983, the Chicago archdiocese 1990-1993, the Kalamazoo diocese 1994-1998, and in the Sioux Falls diocese 1998-2002. Accused in 7/2007 of sexual abuse while in Gary IN. Allegations then surfaced that he had abused two boys in the 1990s in Kalamazoo; deemed credible. Staniszewski reportedly was living in FL, no longer in active ministry. Accused in a civil suit in Gary of abuse of a boy at Casimir Catholic Church's grade school 1979-1981. Included on the Gary diocese's list released 8/27/2018. Noted to have died 4/2/2016. Per his obituary, Staniszewski had been living in Glen Ellyn, IL. Included in 10/2022 on the Chicago archdiocese's list of credibly accused. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report. Included in the MI Attorney General's report on Kalamazoo 5/22/24 .

A woman filed suit in 3/04 on behalf of her 17-year- old son. Stewart allegedly molested the boy at ages 7 to 13 from 1993 through 1999. Restricted ministry after allegations received in 2/01. Removed from ministry in 2003. Church investigation continued. Church denied it knew abuse continued through 1999. Plaintiff's attorney said social workers at Family Social Services found evidence of the abuse. Jury awarded $155K in damages 4/25/08. On archdiocese's list 10/12/18.

Bishop D'Arcy forced Stieglitz to resign from Queen of Angels Parish in 12/1993 after he adopted four Haitian youths in 1992. Accused in a 1994 lawsuit of sexual battery against a 7th- or 8th-grade boy in 1980 while assigned to St. Jude Catholic School. The suit was later dismissed due to the statute of limitations. Accused in 2010 of abuse in 1975 while at South Bend Holy Family. Laicized on 7/7/2007. Included on the Diocese's 9/18/2018 list; five credible allegations noted. Stieglitz died 11/06/2024.

Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits Midwest Province and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis on their lists in 12/2018. Abuse allegedly occurred while Sullivan was assigned to Our Lady of the Springs in French Lick, IN 1958-1959. Per the Jesuits, a single allegation was received after Sullivan's death. Died 9/3/1996. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Superintendent of Catholic Schools, among other prominent diocesan position. Teacher, track coach, parish priest. Was a Holy Cross brother (Bro. Eugene) prior to priesthood. Accused of sexual misconduct with high school and college students. Also identified as having sexually abused a teenager who later became a priest. Tracey was fired from his job at Lafayette Central Catholic High School in the early 1980s for abusing a male student in an incident involving alcohol. Was retired when he died 6/4/89. On diocese's list 9/28/18.

First named publicly as accused on Ft. Wayne-South Bend's 9/18/2018 list. One known credible allegation. Faculties  in the diocese removed 10/18/2002. Assignments included University of Portland OR, Holy Cross Mission House (Fatima), South Bend and Granger parishes, St. Mary's Convent in Notre Dame. On Order's list 6/12/2019. It notes an allegation received in 1991 of abuse in the 1980s in IL. Ministry restricted in 1991. Permanently removed from ministry in 2002. Living in a nursing facility without access to minors. Died 11/3/2021 at Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, IN. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Caught in a sting ordering child pornography for delivery to the Holy Rosary rectory, where he was pastor. Inspectors found 92 videos in a trunk in the rectory, many of them 'extremely graphic and explicit child porn.' Resigned 12/8/1995.  Pleaded guilty and sent to prison for a year. As of 2008, Vogler was lead priest at Holy Trinity parish, director of the diocese's deacon program, and member of the priests' council. Retired 9/2/2011 per the diocese's website accessed 2/26/2012. Allowed active ministry until he was removed 2/19/2019, just before the Diocese released its list of credibly accused clerics. Included on the list.

Accused of sexually abusing 8-9 teenage boys; resigned ministry in 1993 and moved to Haiti. May have functioned as a priest there as late as 1997. One youth died of a heart attack after disclosing abuse. Laicized in 1998. In 2004 Voss was running Visitation House in Port au Prince--a guest facility for those who visit Haiti to aid the poor. Living as of 7/08 on Abaco in the Bahamas. On Lafayette IN diocese's list 9/28/18.

Member of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. (PHJC). Taught at Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne 1963-1967. Dispensed from vows in 1967. Deceased. Named by the diocese in 9/2011 as credibly accused of the sexual abuse of a minor. Her accuser was a 1967 graduate of Dwenger.

Accused of sexually abusing teen boys. Lawsuit (later dropped) claimed Wieber used alcohol and LSD in repeated and systematic sex abuse 1969-70. Ran a popular youth program during the 1970s. Warnings about his character were noted in his personnel file before ordination, but no efforts to supervise him. Granted leave in 11/92. Died 8/17/93. On diocese's list 9/28/18.

Removed in 5/2002 after admitting to the bishop that allegations that he fondled a 16-year-old girl on several occasions over 20 years prior were "substantially true." Wildeman been working in Haiti for two years. He was recalled to Evansville after his victim notified the Diocese and left active ministry 5/28/2002. In 3/2004 he was living in Nashville, TN. Laicized 8/17/2007. Included on the Diocese's list of credibly accused 2/22/2019.

Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list 2/22/2019. One allegation noted, deemed credible by the St. Meinrad Archabbey Review Board. Air Force chaplain in 1962, remaining in that role until at least 1974. Laicized in 1975. Married, settled in Rancho Cordova CA. Died in 2005.
