Fr. Linh Tien Nguyen

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 11/2022 of sexually abusing a boy, ages 10-13, from about 2005-2008. The boy was a student and altar boy at St. Pius in Redwood City. Nguyen was assigned to St. Pius 2005-2009. He was placed on leave in 10/2022 and reinstated two months later. The Archdiocese denied the allegations.


Fr. J. Bart Nadal

From Spain. Arrived in the U.S. in 1949, had a long career in CO. Pastor of Holy Family in Ft. Collins in 1989 when two young sisters, ages 7 and 8,  said he molested them. Nadal, 67, said there was a conspiracy against him within the parish. The family pressed charges. Parishioners harassed the family; the girls needed a police escort to and from school. A jury deliberated ten minutes and acquitted him. Nadal held prominent positions, including rector of St. Andrew's Seminary in Denver and collaborator for the Liturgical Congress of the Denver and Pueblo dioceses. He died 2/1/2015.

Janice Nadeau

Diocese: Diocese of Rochester NY

Allegation to the diocese in 2018 that Nadeau violently sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl in 1977 at St. Margaret Mary School in Irondequoit, where Nadeau was principal in 1977-85. Nadeau's accuser said the nun dragged her by the ear to the principal's office, slapped her face, knocked her into a wall, straddled her when she fell and yelled "You're a slut" and "Your're inviting rape and you're going to get raped," then reached under her skirt and penetrated her. The diocese's victims' reconciliation program deemed the allegations "completely credible," and Nadeau's accuser was offered a settlement. Nadeau retired at some point to her Order's motherhouse in Wilton, CT. Reported in 3/19 to have advanced dementia and to be living a nursing facility. Accused in a 7/20 lawsuit of sexually assaulting a boy, also a St. Margaret Mary student.

Fr. John B. Nadzam

The Diocese announced 4/2009 that it had received a substantiated allegation that Nadzam abused a minor in the 1970s. Civil authorities were notified. Nadzam was assigned to several parishes over the years and taught at Catholic Central High School. He was Absent on Leave 1974-1978 in the Diocese of Erie PA. He died in 2/2005. Included on the diocese's list 10/31/2018. Noted to have been suspended from ministry in 2004.

Fr. Alan W. Nagle

Ordained for the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Went on leave in 1978, worked as a priest at a Melkite-Greek Catholic Church in North Hollywood CA until terminated after 18 months in 1980. Left the Catholic Church in 1981. Named publicly as accused in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report. In 2009 a man told the Baltimore Archdiocese that Nagle sexually abused him in about 1970, when he was a high school freshman on an overnight retreat in Sparks, MD. Another man told the A.G. in 2018 that when he was an altar boy in 1960 in Towson, Nagle became aggressive and laid in bed with him naked during a visit to PA. Melkite-Greek superiors also expressed issues with Nagle, that he had a drinking problem and didn't mix well with the young people of his church. Nagle died in 1997. Per his obituary, Nagle was Assistant Manager of Lemko Housing and Assistant Pastor of St. Mary's Assumption Greek Catholic Church in Joppa, MD.


Fr. William R. Nagle

Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 3/22/2019. It notes one allegation of abuse, reported after Nagle's death. Died in 1979. Per a 2019 report commissioned by the diocese, Nagle's victim was a 13-year-old boy, abused 1973-1976. (Not to be confused with Msgr. William A. Nagle.)

Named publicly as credibly accused by the diocese on its list in 3/2019. Allegations reportedly surfaced after his death.

Left archdiocese to work as Maronite Rite priest 1970-1995. Removed from ministry 1995. Died 8/17/10.

Fr. Alexander Nanko

Nanko, a priest at St. Stephen, the Byzantine Catholic Church in Phoenix, was removed from active ministry in 1993 after seven credible allegations of abuse were received against him. He had been at St. Stephen since 1977. Accusers received counseling and other assistance but no civil charges or criminal charges were filed. He died in 1994 in Johnstown, PA.

Nash is deceased.


Fr. Michael Patrick Nash

In 11/02 a man alleged abuse by Nash at ages 11-15 during 1979-82. Other allegations arose during review board's investigation. Nash denied all allegations. Personnel files revealed late Bishop Kenny expressed "concern" from a family in 1990. Diocese settled for $175,740 in 2004 with the man who came forward in 2002. Laicized 2005. Iowa Supreme Court ruled 9/07 that Nash be allowed to join the Iowa Bar. Admitted to the AK bar in 2008 and returned to AK to practice law in 2011. Married a woman in 2014. Nash died in a plane crash at age 68 on 7/11/19.

Working as a visiting priest in the Diocese of Orange in 2002 when placed on leave after allegations he molested a teen in 1978 while president of Jesuit Prep in Dallas. There since 1973; left "in a hurry" in 1979. The school's president in 2002 said he had recently learned of two allegations against Naughton made to school officials in 1979. Also tried to grope a young faculty member at the school. Allegations deemed credible. Had also worked at Jesuit High schools in New Orleans, LA; Tampa, FL; El Paso, TX; Houston, TX.  Sent in 12/2003 to St. Ignatius Retreat House in Sandy Springs, GA, where he was allowed to reside under restrictions. Dismissed from the Jesuits in 2009. Died in Laguna Woods, CA in 2012. On Jesuit Central and Southern Provinces list 12/7/2018. (Noted to not be Bro. Thomas Naughton, SJ of Missouri Province.) On Baton Rouge diocese's list in early 2019. On Atlanta's list in 2019. Included in the 3/24/2023 GA PAC report.

Pastor of Sacred Heart in Bath when suspended from ministry 6/27/18 due to accusations that he encouraged a 16-year-old VA boy to masturbate during online video 'counseling' sessions in 2012. The boy contacted law enforcement. Lawsuit filed. Settled 9/18. Nave allegedly also stripped naked and masturbated online. The boy reportedly took screenshots of Nave, who was talking to him while naked and touching himself. Name included on Allentown diocese's 8/19/18 list.

Accused in a 12/2004 lawsuit of abusing a boy 1963-1964. Eight more plaintiffs, including one woman, added in 2005. Claims included in 11/2007 settlement with the Jesuits. No settlement with diocese. Accused of abuse of three in a 2009 civil suit against the order. Two or more pending claims shown in bankruptcy reorganization documents for Fairbanks diocese 1/25/2010. In 2/2012 the diocese's list showed 24 reports of abuse by Nawn. Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018. It notes claims in 2005, 2006 and 2009 of abuse 1962-1963. 1964-1968, 1969-1971, 1973-1973, 1979-1981 and 1986-1088. Nawn died 10/01/1992. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes at least 24 "reported survivors."

Accused of abuse of five boys in their mid-teens in the 1960s. First allegation not received by the archdiocese until 1997. Retired in 1991. Nawn died in 1996. Named in 2004 and 2006 civil suits. Suit rejected by 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in 11/07.

Fr. Lawrence Nawrocki

Diocese: Archdiocese of Detroit MI

A woman complained to a regional bishop in 1981 that Nawrocki had abused her 7th grade son. The bishop talked her out of pressing charges. Convicted in 1989 of abuse of three Macomb Township boys in 1987 at St. Isidore Church after the parents banded together and complained. Sentenced to 4-15 years in prison. Released in 1994. The Archdiocese said he would never be returned to public ministry. Deceased, per the archdiocesan website accessed in 10/2009. Included on the Archdiocese's list of credibly accused 6/10/2019.


Fr. Giles L. Nealen

Monk of St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe. On Erie the diocese's list 4/6/2018. Retired in 1992. Died 12/29/1996. Included in the 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report, which noted Nealen's "long history of sexually abusing numerous young boys." In Brazil 1964-1967. The Order and Diocese of Greensburg in 1972 knew Nealen was "involved in an inappropriate incident" when pastor of St. Bruno in South Greensburg PA. Moved in 1972 to St. James in Waynesburg OH, Youngstown diocese.  Letter to the Diocese in 1/1993 from a man alleging abuse at age 13 by Nealen 23 years prior at Queen of the World parish in St. Mary's PA. The man said Nealen also abused his two friends. In 2/2002 a woman told the Diocese she knew of at least three men molested as boys by Giles, one of whom had just been arrested for molesting young boys. Another woman alleged in 2004 that her 11-year-old son was molested 30 years prior by Nealen at Queen of the World. On the Youngstown diocese's list 10/29/2018. Suit in 8/2020 claimed abuse in 1968 of his nephew, age 11.

Name released in 4/2002 as a priest no longer in active ministry because of allegations in the past of abuse of minors. He had been accused of abusing a deaf boy of about age 13 in the late 1980s. Nealon denied the allegation at the time and said that he had been exonerated after an investigation. He was absent on leave 1992-1995. Left the priesthood, married, became a lawyer.

Fr. Thomas E. Neary

At a state senate hearing in Albany in 5/03, a man claimed Neary raped him at least 100 times as a child over a twp-year period in the 1960s. The diocese would not discuss case but said they offered to pay for the man's counseling. As of 1/04 diocese had paid $3000K. Neary retired in 1995. Died 9/01, age 83. Per 2008 articles, there were numerous victims who had not made public allegations. On diocese's list 12/3/18. Accused in 8/19 lawsuit of abuse 1954-60 of a boy at Camp Nazareth and elsewhere. By 2/14/20 there were five claims against Neary under the NY Child Victims Act.

Fr. Kenneth T. Nee

Faculties removed in 2002 due to allegations of sexual misconduct with a teenager in the 1960s. Died 2/19/06. Accused in a lawsuit in 8/19 of of abuse of a child, ages 8-10, in 1991-93. The child attended Our Lady Fatima in Port Washington. Included in 3/21 on the diocese's list of accused, noting abuse allegedly occurring at Our Holy Redeemer in Freeport, where he 1962-79.

Fr. Joseph T. Neeson

Diocese: Archdiocese of Louisville KY

Accused in a 2002 lawsuit of abusing an altar boy in either 1951-52 or 1954-55. Plaintiff filed the suit pro se. Neeson retired in 1965 and died in 1966. He had been a priest for 76 of his 99 years. He was believed to have been the longest-serving priest in the US. Plaintiff was in prison serving time for forgery, sexual abuse, theft, and being a persistent felon when he filed suit.

Per 3/15/16 PA Grand Jury Presentment, Neetz raped a child in the 1950s while assigned to Highland Hall in Hollidaysburg, as reported by the victim in 2009. The report said further that the victim was abused by other members of the T.O.R. Franciscans years later. Neetz worked also in VA, MD, DC, OH, and FL. He died 10/12/02.

Accused in 12/07 of repeatedly molesting a boy in 1977-78, beginning when the boy was age 15. The alleged abuse included fondling over and under clothes and occurred in a choir loft. Neiman succeeded Rev. Gerald Joyal as pastor; the same boy was allegedly abused repeatedly by Joyal in 1969-75, beginning when the boy was age 8. Neiman died in 1979.

Charged in 2002 after DA obtained Brooklyn church files. Nelson pled not guilty. He was accused of visiting a 12-year-old girl in 1999, taking her on his lap, touching her breasts under her bra, and pushing his penis into her buttocks through her clothing, while her terminally ill grandmother sat nearby. Parents reported the abuse. Nelson was removed, then accepted in the NY archdiocese after Bishop Tharmaraj of Kottar, India, wrote a letter of recommendation. Convicted and sentenced in 2003 to 4 months in jail.

Fr. Ephren Cirilio Neri

From the Yucatan archdiocese in Mexico. Name also spelled Ephrem. Lawsuit filed in 11/19 by a woman claiming rape at age 7 in 1958 by Neri while he was assigned to Christ the King parish in San Bernardino. He was also accused in 1958 of fathering a child, which he denied. Per the 1959 Official Catholic Directory, which reflects 1958-59, Neri was on sick leave. The 1960 Directory shows him as at a Servants of the Paraclete retreat house in Canton, OH, followed by assignments in Fresno, CA. Incardinated into the Fresno diocese in 1965. Again on sick leave 1976-82. Died 5/30/82.

Fr. Edmund W. Netter

Accused in 2/26/04 lawsuit of sexually abusing a girl 1973-79, starting when she was age 9. Alleged abuse occurred weekly or biweekly in the St. Anthony's rectory in Nanuet NY, where he was pastor, and at a house during vacations with the girl's family when the rest of the family was at the beach. Netter was made monsignor in 1986. He died 4/11/98. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. Claims against Netter eligible for the IRCP.

Fr. Michael T. Neuberger

Diocese: Archdiocese of Milwaukee WI

Accused in a 1993 civil suit of sexually abusing a boy 1964-66. The plaintiff also sued two insurance companies. Accused in a 1994 suit of abusing a boy in 1968. In 6/97 the WI Supreme Court dismissed the suits and five more against other priests after ruling that victims with repressed memories of sexual abuse have just two years after reaching the age of majority to file complaints. Dismissed from the clerical state in 1998. Neuberger appealed. In 2008 the archbishop, with the Vatican's authorization, gave Neuberger the status of "fully restricted from public ministry."

Fr. Henry Neubig

Ordained for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Incardinated into the Baton Rouge diocese when it was formed in 1961. Died in 1975. It notes an allegation received in 8/2007 of abuse by Neubig in the mid-1950s, while he was assigned to Immaculate Conception in Lakeland.

Faculties permanently removed in 9/94. Accused in a 1995 civil suit of abusing a youth for four years in the 1970s at O'Gorman High School, and of stalking him. Family went to Bishop to request Church order him to stop. Neuroth admitted similar relationship with two other boys, and a third who died by suicide. One man said Neuroth abused him in the 1960s from his pre-teen through college years. Suit settled in 1999. 10/95. Laicized Died 6/1/13. On diocese's list in 3/19.

Fr. Jeffrey David Newell

German. Also known as Jeffrey David Newell Lambert. In 1991 a young man told the Archdiocese that he had been abused for years by Newell from age 15 in 1986, beginning when Newell was a lay youth minister, prior to ordination. The Archdiocese promised that Newell would never work in youth ministry again. Newell was removed from ministry "for other reasons" in 1993. Admitted the abuse, sent to treatment in MD. Found in 2010 working with children as a priest in Tijuana, Mexico. Accuser filed suit in 6/2010 accusing the L.A. Archdiocese of fraud. One of seven priests of the Tijuana, Mexico Archdiocese who were removed without privileges as of 6/20/2014. Case sent to the Vatican. Found by a reporter in 11/2019 working as pastor of a Tijuana parish. Suit filed by a second man in 2/2020 in CA alleging abuse as a young teen by Newell, beginning in 1993. As of 3/2022, Newell was still listed on the Tijuana Archdiocese website, as the pastor of Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion in Tijuana. As of 5/2023, he was no longer listed with the parish but seemed to still be in active ministry; he was named on the archdiocesan website as the diocesan contact for a charismatic group, Comunidades Católicas Carismáticas de Alianza, and for Koinonia, the archdiocesan radio station that he founded in 2010.


Fr. Charles Newman

Accused in a 2004 lawsuit of sexually abusing a 16-year-old old boy 1994-1996. Allegedly plied the boy with drugs and alcohol and performed oral sex on him. Also gave him $42K, some of it funds from Bishop Ryan High School, where Newman was principal. Order allegedly offered the complainant $50K to sign a release. Suit dismissed due to the statute of limitations. Newman resigned from Ryan for financial mismanagement in 2003. Accuser died of drug overdose in 11/2006. Arrested in 12/2007 for theft. Pleaded guilty in 3/2009. Sentenced to 3-6 years. Paroled in 12/2013. Said in 1/2019 to be living a life of prayer and penance. Included on the Our Lady of Guadalupe Province Franciscans list as of 1/2024. (Member of the Assumption Province.)

Fr. Louis I. Newman

Retired in 2002. Reportedly, his priestly faculties were removed because of allegations of sexual misconduct. He had been working in the San Diego diocese for at least 10 years, having left Rockville Centre in the late 1980s. Died 12/2/11. Included in 3/21 on the Rockville Centre diocese's list of accused, which notes abuse allegedly occurring at a private house and in Newman's car. No time-frame shown.

In 1987 the Archdiocese learned that Newman had admitted to sexually abusing minors in the 1970s-1980s. He told his superiors he had abused at least 12 boys, ages 9-15, over at least 15 years, and that his victims were "neighbors, people he's known for years, never anyone connected with church." Order removed him from his assignment, which he had had since 1982. Police investigated in 1987; no charges filed. The police report shows "only one instance of fondling one boy." Sent to Johns Hopkins and then Hartford CT for treatment. Allowed active ministry as a parish pastor in the Archdiocese of Hartford beginning in 1990. Placed on leave in 2002 after notes regarding his abuse history were found during a review of Baltimore priest files.  Included on the Baltimore Archdiocese's list in 9/2002 of accused religious priests and brothers. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report. 


Fr. Bruce Neylon

Sent from the Diocese of Orange to Idaho in 2002 after an 'affair' with a woman. Was returned in 2003 to Orange after a repairman found child porn on his computer at the church in Idaho. Orange immediately placed him on leave. Idaho authorities later determined there was not sufficient evidence of a criminal act. Status per the Orange website in 8/16 was "voluntary permanent leave." Per the diocese's list updated 4/2/19, Nguyen was seeking laicization. The list in 12/20 shows that Nguyen had been laicized.

Accused publicly in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report, name redacted. Appears in the report as #153. The archdiocese received a report in 7/2003 that Nicholls sexually assaulted a boy, ages 10-12, in the 1970s. Nicholls was a teacher at the time at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Southwest Baltimore, and a friend of the family. He would take the boy on outings, including overnight trips. Nicholls allegedly fondled the boy's genitals while they shared a bed. He left the Marianists in 1980.


Fr. Richard W. Nichols

Parish priest, child psychologist. In 2009 a man stated publicly that Nichols raped him at age 13 in 1966 when he was an altar boy at SS. Peter and Paul, where Nichols was assigned. He said he told his parents who felt they couldn't challenge the Church. In 1980 two boys told their parents they were abused by Nichols as altar boys at St. Aloysius in West Allys in the 1970s. The parents went to the pastor, who suggested the boys write a letter to Archbishop Weakland. At least one did. The Archdiocese offered counseling but allowed Nichols to continue in ministry. One of the two in 2002 said the abuse started in 1974 and included rape. Nichols admitted in 1984 to sexual abuse of a boy, who was his patient, in 1978. Complaints filed in 1983 and in 1985. After publicity, Nichols surrendered his psychology license and was removed from ministry. He died in 1996 at age 63.

The 'relationship' resumed briefly in 1999. The woman told military investigators of the situation in 1999 and he was discharged from the Air Force in 2000. Another woman came forward in 2003 to allege abuse by Nicholson when she was age 15 in the 1970s. Previously part of Mobile AL archdiocese. The diocesan review board deemed both allegations not credible. After the first settlement, attorney asked that this man's claims be re-investigated. On archdiocese's list 2/13/19. Included in 10/2014 on the St. Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocese's list of accused and on the Diocese of Winona-Rochester's list. In 4/2012 attorney Mitchell Garabedian announced the settlement of at least one claim regarding Nickel. Two more lawsuits were filed 12/31/2014, alleging the sexual abuse of boys in the Fall River Diocese, one in the 1970s, the other in the 1980s. The Diocese settled for $880K in 4/2017 with eight men claiming abuse as boys by Nickel. The abuse was said to have occurred on Cape Cod, and on trips to the Bahamas, IL, NY, Washington DC, RI and NH. Included in 1/2021 on the Fall River Diocese's list of credibly accused.

Known as "Brother Dave" while ministering in Milwaukee in the 1980s, Nickerson confessed in 2007 to abuse of a 9- or 10-year-old boy in the mid-1980s at St. Vincent De Paul school. This was only after another "Brother Dave" (David Sanders) had been arrested, convicted at trial, and given a 15- year sentence as of 1/07. The real Brother Dave was arrested in 6/08 in MO and was being returned to WI. In treatment at RECON in MO as of 7/08. Sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Fr. Jose Pablo Nickse

Fr. Richard Niebrugge

A woman filed suit in 2004 alleging that Niebrugge abused her for many years, beginning when she was 10, and that he had fathered her child which was born in 1978. The woman had been taken from an abusive family and lived with Niebrugge for many years in various rectories. Niebrugge died in 1983. Suit dismissed on statute of limitations and dismissal upheld by 5th District Appellate Court in 8/06.

First named publicly as accused by the diocese when added to its list 6/17/2020 of accused clergy. Parish priest in Belleville, Shiloh, Kinmundy, Salem and Cahokia. Director of St. John's Orphanage in Shiloh in the 1950s and 1960s. Chaplain of St. Joseph Hospital in Breese 1976-1988. Died 4/26/1988. A former priest came forward shortly after Niemeyer was named in 2020 to say that in 1966, when he was a seminarian and volunteering at the orphanage, he and the orphanage's mother superior reported to Bishop Zuroweste suspicions that Niemeyer was sexually abusing grade-school boys. Niemeyer was transferred, and kept in ministry. The former priest said he knows that one of the boys died by suicide. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report. It details abuse by Niemeyer in the late 1970s of a boy he had met while a hospital chaplain. The boy was a patient's brother. Niemeyer groomed the boy for a year, giving him special treats and taking him on camping trips. He sexually abused the boy under the guise of playing a game that would make him strong for upcoming high school basketball tryouts. After the abuse, Niemeyer let the boy drive his car then threatened him, saying that if he told, no one would believe him, he would go to hell, and that he (Niemeyer) would tell on Luke for driving his car without a license. At least two other men have come forward, one in 1987 and the other in 1993, to report abuse as children by Niemeyer while hospitalized.


Fr. Leonard Bernard Nienaber

Ordained for the Diocese of Covington, which then encompassed Lexington. (The Lexington diocese was established in 1988.) Assigned 1960-1979 to Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary in Lexington. Indicted in 1993 at age 86. Convicted in 1994 on 10 counts of the sexual abuse of as many as 18 minors. Sentenced to 10 years (probated) and admittance to St. Jean Vianney Renewal Center in Dittmer, MO. In 2002 and 2003 17 women and a man filed suit. In a 12/2003 settlement, 20 of 24 claims against the Diocese were Nienaber victims. Age 97 and still living at the Vianney Center in 12/2003; ordered by Diocese to remain there after his 10 year sentence ended. Died 11/19/2006, age 99. Included on the Diocese of Covington's list 7/31/2020. On the Lexington diocese's list in 8/2020.

Archbishop John C. Nienstedt

Diocese: Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis, MN

Accused in 2013 of touching a boy's buttocks after a Confirmation in 2009. County attorney found "insufficient evidence" in 3/2014. Returned to ministry as archbishop. Internal investigation of alleged misconduct with adults, revealed in 7/2014. It reportedly found "sexual advances" by Nienstedt toward two priests. Nienstedt kept the findings secret and, per an MPR report, authorized a new investigation by a second law firm. Resigned in 6/2015, per 401.2, soon after the Archdiocese was criminally charged for contributing to child sex abuse. Documents released in 7/2016 show allegations of Nienstedt's "promiscuous gay lifestyle," and Vatican cover-up. Nienstedt denied the allegations. In 2016 he was working at the Napa Institute in CA. The Detroit Archdiocese announced in 10/2018 that Nienstedt said he was going to move to a house he owns in southeast MI, agreeing to abstain from public ministry. Allegations revealed in 12/2018 that he invited two minors to a hotel room to change out of wet clothes in 2005 at a Vatican youth rally in Germany. The Vatican announced in 1/2024 that it had concluded regarding the misconduct allegations that Nienstedt took "imprudent" actions but did not violate church law; he was then barred by Pope Francis from living in and public ministry in MN, ND or SD, and was allowed ministry elsewhere only with authorization of the local bishop and if he informs the Dicastery for Bishops ahead of time.

Fr. Frank Nieset

Parish priest, high school teacher. Name quietly added in 2/2023 to the diocese's list of those with substantiated allegations, received after Nieset's death. Nieset went on sick leave in 1982-1983. He went on leave of absence in 1994 and retired in 1995. Per his obituary, during retirement Nieset helped out in parishes in AZ and CA, returning to the Toledo area in 2004. He died in 2015.


Fr. Francis A. Nigli

From India. Worked in the archdiocese 1997-2018. Sent to treatment in 2013 after allegations of inappropriate touching of an 18-year-old male (a minor, per diocese). Returned to ministry. Removed in 6/18 due to an allegation of sexual assault of a 21-year-old man in 5/18. Not made public until 10/18. On diocese's list 11/30/18. It notes "After professional assessment, was not prohibited from ministry." Later removed from ministry and moved to Grand Rapids MI, where he sought faculties. They were declined. Per the archdiocese's updated list in 10/21, Nigli was "permanently barred from public ministry by the Holy See in 2021." The 11/21 NE A.G.'s report shows that Nigli engaged in aggressive grooming behavior and unwanted sexual touching of teenage boys and young men, ages 16-21.

Fr. Robert Daniel Nikliborc

While running Boys Town of the Desert, where he was assigned 1957-69, he owned homes in Las Vegas and Palm Springs, living a lavish lifestyle and going by the name Robert Drew Rand. Convicted of tax evasion in 1968 and spent 97 days in jail. Reassigned in 1971 to St. Anne's in San Diego, the diocese's poorest parish; there until he retired in 2001. Died 3/19/06. Personnel file released 10/24/10. Included on the San Diego diocese's list of credibly accused.

Capuchin Franciscan Friar of the Province of St. Mary, ordained in NY. Worked on Guam 1976-1999 then Pearl City, HI 1999-2008. Teacher, counselor, pastor, vice-provincial. (First Guam assignment was assistant parish priest under Rev. Anthony Apuron who later became bishop, accused of abusing at least 7 minors, convicted by the Vatican in 2018.) Nilan died 8/5/2009 in New York. He was accused in a 6/2017 lawsuit of molesting a 14-year-old boy in the rectory of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish in Agat in 1982. The boy aspired to be a priest and was living at the rectory. A lawsuit was filed in 10/2017 by man alleging rape as a 10-year-old altar boy by Niland in about 1979, during confessions.

Br. Rudolph Stefan “Sebastian” Nocinski

Arrested in 7/2004, charged with felony possession of child pornography after a computer technician found a screen saver with pornographic images, including some child pornography. The technician alerted police, who found more than 2500 images at Nocinski's residence. Had been with order for 35 years. Was not currently involved in public ministry. Received an 18 month prison term (suspended) and 5 years probation. Included on the Our Lady of Guadalupe Franciscans Province list of credibly accused as of 1/2024. Noted to have left the order in 2010. (Was a member of the Assumption Province.)

Fr. Michael Stephen Nocita

Fr. Paul M. Nogaro

Pastor of St. Stephen's on Grand Island when accused by a man in his early 60s in a lawsuit 8/19 of raping and molesting him at age 11. Nogaro denied the allegations. Suspended. Retired. The man also accused Revs. Frank Tuchols, Peter Popadick and a "Fr. Mike," as well as two teachers at St. Mary of Sorrows church and school. He said the abuse occurred at St. Mary's and at Bishop Fallon High School. The accuser reportedly would not cooperate in the investigation; the Review Board deemed the allegations against Nogaro and Popadick unsubstantiated. Nogaro returned to ministry 1/17/20. On 1/23/20 a second lawsuit was filed, claiming Nogaro abused a boy, ages 10-12 in the 1990s. Again, the Diocesan Review Board found that it could not substantiate the allegations, and the diocese announced in 8/21 that Nogaro would be allowed to resume  ministry.

Fr. Leonel C. Noia

Per news in 5/02 article, two boys testified in 1976 that Noia showed them pornography and rubbed their genitals during a camping trip. The boys told a family camping nearby, and police were called. Noia pled no contest to one felony charge; sentenced to jail for six months, five years probation and psych treatment. Returned to ministy in 1978. Permanently banned from ministry in 6/02. Two new allegations in 7/02, followed by civil suit filed 3/03. Both claims included in 6/05 $21.2M settlement with SF archdiocese involving five priests. Died 6/3/05. Included on diocese's list 10/18/18.

Fr. James F. Nolan

Fr. Joseph M. Nolan

In 8/19 the diocese announced that an allegation against Nolan had been deemed not credible by the Review Board, due to insufficient evidence. The allegation was made via the diocese's IRCP 12/20/17, and reported to law enforcement. Per Nolan's accuser, the abuse allegedly occurred 1976-79 while Nolan was assigned to Our Lady of the Snows in Queens. Another allegation was also made 12/20/17, via an attorney. The case was dropped after the attorney was unable to contact this accuser. Nolan died 8/31/19, at age 97.

Fr. William A. Nolan

Police report filed in 4/18 said Nolan repeatedly sexually assaulted a boy 2006-10, when the boy was ages 13-17 and Nolan was assigned to St. Joseph's in Fort Atkinson. Nolan retired at age 64 in 2007, citing a heart condition. In residence at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Madison when arrested 5/17/18. Previous assignments included parishes in Watertown, Madison and Cambridge; also St. John Vianney in Janesville under Rev. Gerald Vosen, who was later successfully sued for child sex abuse. New investigation reported 5/22/18 of sexual misconduct toward an adult male in Janesville in 2009. Janesville police contacted the diocese about Nolan in 2015 after a friend of the man alleging misconduct in 2009 contacted them with concerns. Pled not guilty in 7/18. Found not guilty at trial in 9/19. In 3/18 Review Board deemed allegations not credible. Returned to status as a retired priest in good standing.

Fr. John W. Nolin

Sent for treatment in 1982 after admitting to a long history of involvement with adult women. [See Attorney General 's report for relevant documents.] In 3/94 a woman in her 30s and her sister and brother told the diocese that Nolin was sexually involved in the 1960s and '70s with their mother when they were children. The priest had the family move into a house he owned Keene. The woman said that when she was age 12 or 13, Nolin would come into her bedroom and touch her genital area under her nightgown. Nolin denied abusing the girl. Faculties removed in 6/94. The diocese reportedly told his alleged victim they believed her but that there was not enough evidence to take action. Name not on list sent to Attorney General's office; it was sent separately a month later. Laicized in 11/06, announced in 1/07. Last known to be living in New Mexico.

Named publicly as accused in the CO A.G. report 10/22/19. Allegation in 1998 to the diocese that Norman repeatedly sexually abused an altar boy, age 12, in 1968, while pastor of Sacred Heart in Avondale. Norman denied the abuse. He left the Pueblo diocese in 1975 and moved to central Mexico, where he founded a home for abused and neglected children. He died 5/3/13 in Colon, Queretaro, Mexico.

La Salette Missionary. Per the 1989 Catholic Directory was also a permanent deacon in St. Louis, MO. By 1999 he was a permanent deacon in the Lake Charles, LA diocese. Named publicly as accused by the Lake Charles diocese on its list updated in 11/2019. (Name misspelled Normanmtowicz, first name Edward, but is Edmund in Directories and father's 2014 obituary.) Lake Charles' list notes accusations of sexual abuse of minors, occurring 1976-1978 and 1980 in Sulphur, LA and reported to the diocese in 2003 and 2019. Prohibited from ministry. Appears to have been long living with his order in Hartford, CT.

Fr. Francis L. Norris

A lawsuit filed 11/30/2007 claimed Norris attempted to rape a boy attending Salesianum School 1962. The suit alleged that the School, Order and Diocese had prior knowledge of abuse by Norris. He died in 1985. In 4/2009 three more plaintiffs filed suit claiming abuse at Salesianum. The case against the Diocese settled 10/30/2009. A jury found the Order liable in 11/2009 but awarded no damages. New trial ordered 2/22/2011. Name released as part of the Order's  $24.8M settlement with 40 individuals in 8/2011 .

Deacon Robert L. Nouwen

Nouwen pleaded guilty 12/2012 to possession of child pornography (boys). He was deacon at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Removed from ministry. Per a 5/2013 press release, he also admitted to federal authorities that he had raped two children. Sentenced to 70 months in federal prison and lifetime supervision after release. Archdiocese was to ask that he be laicized. On the archdiocese's list of credibly accused 12/6/2018.


Fr. James A. Nowak

Retired in 2007 from SS Peter and Paul in Naperville. Member of Montini Catholic High School board of directors. Removed without privileges in 8/2012 after an allegation of sex abuse of a minor occurring about 25 years prior. Per the 1989 Official Catholic Directory, he was assigned to St. Anthony's in Joliet. Review Board deemed the allegation credible. Matter sent to Rome. Still pending in 4/2014. Named in new suit 5/15/2013. Named as one of five priests in a $4.137 million lawsuit settled in 4/2015. Settlements with eight men claiming abuse by Nowak as minors. Per diocese's list updated in 12/2018, Nowak was permanently removed from ministry. He died 9/30/20. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes 28 "reported survivors."

Pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians in Cheektowaga when suspended from ministry in 8/19 after allegations of inappropriate contact with children and harassment of a seminarian. Reportedly to be sent to a treatment center for assessment. He denied the allegations.

Fr. Michael E. Nowak

Pastor at St. Theresa of Liseiux Parish in Kenosha when removed in 5/11 after a 14-year-old girl's parents complained to police that he had recently made inappropriate telephone call(s) (containing sexually-explicit language) to the girl. No physical contact took place per the archdiocese. A second girl, age 17, also filed a complaint saying she received the same type of calls from him. Charged. Pleaded guilty in 7/11. Sentenced to 30 days in jail and one year probation. A former nurse, Nowak was granted a partial registered nurse license in 2012 and a full license in 2013. Voluntarily laicized in 2015.

Fr. Randolph Nowak

Worked in New York, Guam and Hawaii. Accused in a 2008 letter to Order's NY provincial of abusing a boy 1961-66, when the boy attended St. Mary's Seminary High School in Glenclyffe, NY. The accuser produced correspondence that substantiated his claim, including an apology from Nowak. Order has paid for counseling for him. Faculties had been removed in 2004 for past allegations that "arose elsewhere." Nowak worked in almost every parish in Guam staffed by his Order. Retired and living in Guam at Capuchin Friary in 4/17; there since at least 2007.

Fr. C. Richard Nowery

Accused in 1986 of sexually abusing two boys in Austin, TX. Sent for treatment then approved for return to ministry. Worked for the order for eight years recruiting and guiding new members, with no unsupervised access to children. Assigned in 1994 to a New Orleans parish where he was made pastor in 1995. Placed on leave in 2002 after review of personnel file. Officials there said they had no knowledge of his past. On New Orleans archdiocese's list 11/2/18. Died in 2018. On Baton Rouge diocese's list in early 2019. On Austin diocese's list 1/31/19. On order's list 6/12/19.

Fr. Aaron Nowicki

Arrested in a sting operation in 8/2021, attempting to meet who he thought was a 14- or 15-year-old for sex in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Nowicki had reportedly been removed from ministry in the Diocese of Marquette WI in 2019 for alleged inappropriate sexual conduct with a vulnerable adult. Included in the MI Attorney General's 10/2022 report. Convicted in 9/2023 on the charges related to the 2021 sting.


Fr. George A. Nuedling

As of 2002 Nuedling, who died in 1994, had been accused of abuse by five people. The first complaints surfaced in 1986 when a man said that Nuedling had abused him and possibly his brother as boys in the 1960s. Bishop Sklba confronted Nuedling who acknowledged misconduct. Another complaint was received in 1993 and Nuedling was forced to resign. At least ten suits were filed in 2002 and 2003. All were dismissed due to the statute of limitations. Most later settled.

Fr. Francis E. Nugent

A woman told the Salesians in 1994 that Nugent abused her and two of her brothers. Nugent was sent for therapy, then reassigned. The woman complained again to the order in 1998 after she discovered that Nugent was working at a youth camp. The order settled with her in 1998 for $250K. Per the woman, she was part of a group of up to eight children Nugent regularly abused in the 1970s. Another suit was settled in 2008, claiming abuse of a male Don Bosco Prep student 1977-1976. Named in a suit filed by four former junior seminary students. Died at age 89 on 1/20/2011 in Italy, where he had lived for many years. Included in 3/2020 on the Salesians list of credibly accused.


Fr. Jeremiah Nunan

Ordained in Ireland. Accused in 2006 of abuse of boy ages 9-12 in the late 1960s-early 1970s. Suspended. Denied allegation. Accuser said he told diocese in 2004 but nothing done. Diocese cleared Nunan 1/07 and returned him to previous assignment in Cairo, NY. Plaintiff died 3/08; suit continued. New suit 4/12 by two brothers claiming abuse as minors led to second removal without privileges. Nunan allegedly paid one of the men in 2010-12 to keep quiet. Diocese announced 6/30/18 Nunan was permanently barred from ministry due to credible accusation he sexually abused a minor in the early 1990s. Suit filed in 12/19 under the NY Child Victims Act by one of the two brothers, claiming abuse 1989-95 at ages 9-15. His sibling was allegedly abuse ages 7-21.

Fr. Albert G. Nunez

Reportedly accused in 2015-16 of molesting two brothers, one by then deceased, in the 1970s. Report to state police; investigation closed because the surviving brother did not want to press charges. Another man said that when he was age 12, Nunez "spooned" him in bed after his mother insisted the boy stay the night in the rectory. Nunez denied the allegations. Not on diocese's list 4/12/19. Retired in 2018; living in 5/19 in a diocesan nursing home.

Monsignor. Ordained for the Diocese of Zacatecas, Mexico. Moved to San Diego CA in 1926. Returned to Mexico 1929-1932, then back to San Diego, where he was incardinated in 1937. Assigned to a San Bernardino CA parish 1939 until his death in 1968. Accused in a 12/2003 lawsuit of molesting a boy, age 12, at a San Bernardino Catholic School in 1956-1957. The boy allegedly told another priest, who did nothing to stop the abuse. Personnel file released by the Diocese of San Diego 10/25/2010.

Fr. Marcin Nurek

From Poland. Arrived in the U.S. in 3/15. Deacon at Holy Rosary/Sacred Heart in Dover. Arrested 8/3/17, one month after ordination, before he was to start first assignment. Charged with criminal contact and endangering the welfare of a child after accused of groping a 13-year-old girl in Boonton. Allegedly followed group of girls as they walked down the street, then put his hand under the girl's skirt, touched her buttocks and said, "You're sexy." Placed on leave, faculties revoked. Released from custody to Bethlehem Hermitage for priests in Bethlehem Township after surrendering passport. Indicted 3/18. As of 5/18 was to spend 18 months supervised in Pretrial Intervention program. If successful, charges to be dismissed and record expunged. On diocese's list 2/13/19.

Diocese previously ignored complaints that he had sexually harassed adult women. May have been paroled in 2003 and sent back to Nigeria. On Dallas diocese's list 1/31/19.

Fr. Laserian I. Nwoga

Accused in 2002 of fondling a girl, age 17, in a rectory in 2001. The girl was working as a receptionist at the parish. She said Nwoga made inappropriate advances and touched her skin under her shirt. Civil suit filed. Diocese investigated and said Nwoga's behavior was inappropriate but not abuse. Still active priest with the Camden diocese in 1/2005. Served in Kuwait for several months as a military chaplain. As of 4/2007, he was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base, Japan. Chaplain at US Air Force Academy. In Biloxi MS (Air Force) in 8/2018.

Fr. Mieczyslaw F. Nycz

"Matt." Accused in a lawsuit filed by a man 5/24/21 under the NY Child Victims Act of encouraging him 1994-98 as an elementary school boy to engage in sexual acts with four girls "provided" by Nycz and two other priests, Revs. Gregory Dobson and Adolph Kowalczyk. Per the suit, the man feared the priests secretly filmed them. He was a student at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Orchard park. Nycz was pastor of SS. Peter and Paul in Williamsville when placed on leave due to the allegations. The three priests denied "ever committing any acts of abuse." In 10/21 the diocese's review board determined that the allegations against Nycz, Dobson and Kowalczyk were unsubstantiated. All three were reinstated.

Fr. John J. Nyeste

In 11/18 a man alleged sexual abuse by Nyeste when he was an 11-year-old altar boy at St. Emory's in Connellsville, PA. The man said the abuse occurred at Nyeste's farmhouse in the mountains, that he passed out after the priest gave him wine and awakened to find Nyeste on top of him. Nyeste worked in PA, NY and OH. He died 5/19/87 in Cleveland, OH. Nyeste's accuser was offered a settlement by the diocese, but said was not sure he would accept it.

Fr. W. James Nyhan

Allegations in 1993 and 1997, per archdiocesan records. Removed in 2002. Arrested in 2003 in Charleston SC for abuse in 1979-80. Was a visiting priest there. Criminal trial in 4/06. Allegations in both Boston and Charleston. Pleaded guilty just prior to start of criminal trial 4/25/06. A 30-year sentence was changed to 5 years probation. Civil suit in Charleston settled at mediation in 8/06. Involuntary laicization announced by the Boston Archdiocese in 3/07. Included on the Boston archdiocese's list in 8/11. On the Charleston diocese's list 3/29/19. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 2/22 of sexually abusing a girl, age 11, while assigned to St. Brendan's in Dorchester MA in 1980.

Fr. Loren Nys

In 1/14 Order removed Nys from SS. Peter and Paul's in Kiel, where he was working in retirement, after Provincial's review of personnel files. Files revealed two complaint letters from parents re conduct with minors dating back to late 1960s-early 1970s, Per files, issues were addressed at the time but Nys was kept in ministry. After removal he was to reside in Milwaukee with the Order's retired priests under supervision. In 12/16 a man told the Buffalo NY diocese that Nys abused him for two years in the early 1970s, beginning when the man was age 14. Nys was a teacher and administrator at Buffalo's St. Mary's High School. The man said he lived with Nys in the rectory due tp family issues, and that Nys repeatedly raped him.
