Bro. Tim was one of several accused in a 2010 civil suit against the diocese, Oblates and Sisters of the Divine Savior. The suit alleged abuse of students at Tekakwitha Indian Mission in Sisseton SD. In the suit, Bro. Tim and Sr. Boganina were accused of abuse 1944-1945 of a boy, age 9-10.

"Sam." Ordained for the Diocese of Tarbes-Lourdes, France. Incardinated in 1971 into the Diocese of Fresno. Included in 2021 on the Fresno diocese's list of credibly accused. Noted to have left the diocese in 1974 to work as a US Navy chaplain and to have died in 1994. Per his obituary, Tambourin was a Navy chaplain for 20 years. At the time of his death he was pastor of St. Mary of the Mountains in Virginia City and a chaplain at Fallon Naval Base.

In 10/2002 a former student nun filed a lawsuit alleging that she was fondled in 1959 or 1960 at St. Walburg Convent by a Sister Terrance, whose given name was unknown. In the same suit, the woman also alleges that she had been previously abused at Villa Madonna Academy (a girls' school) by another nun and that a third nun also fondled her during her first year at St. Walburg Monastery. The plaintiff left the convent in 1971.

Sr. Theresa was one of several religious accused in a 2010 civil suit against the diocese, Oblates and Sisters of the Divine Savior which alleged abuse of students at Tekakwitha Indian Mission in Sisseton SD. One woman said Sr. Theresa sexually and physically abused her when she was ages 4-11 during 1947-54. The same woman said she was also forced by the Mother Superior and others to simulate sex acts with a life-sized doll.

Placed on administrative leave in 8/1994 and suspended from priestly duties pending an investigation into allegations of past sexual misconduct with minors. Archbishop Sanchez was asked about allegations against Tafoya in his 1994 deposition. He said that Tafoya had come to him to say that someone had made a statement to a nun about Tafoya and that the statement was a lie. Included on the Santa Fe archdiocese's list of accused 9/12/2017. Accused in a lawsuit in 11/2018 of the sexual abuse of a boy in 1974.

Left ministry in the late 1960s. In 1979 Tague received a three-year suspended sentence and three years probation for embezzling $30K in 1976 from a halfway house for juvenile delinquents he headed. Accused in 2002 of sexually abusing a boy in 1971 at the Department of Youth Services facility. Sued in 2002 in a multi-plaintiff suit. Involuntary laicization announced in 3/2006. Included in 8/2011 on the Boston archdiocese's list. Accused in a lawsuit settled in 11/2021 in the high five figures of sexually abusing a boy, age 7, 1965 at St. Benedict's in Somerville. The abuse is said to have occurred twice, in a confessional. Tague died in 2013.

Accused in 2002 of abuse in the 1960s by at least four people. Placed on leave 10/02. One claim settled 10/02. Another settled 11/02. At least two suits filed. One suit settled 4/03. Sentenced to at least ten years in prison 3/03 after pleading guilty 12/02 to five counts of sexually assaulting a boy over a period of eight years. Not listed in the 3/03 NH Attorney General's Report. Request for early release due to health denied 11/10. Still in prison 2/05/12. Per the diocese's list 7/31/19, assigned to a life of prayer and penance and deceased.

Taught at BC High in Boston 1971-80, then Cheverus High in Portland ME 1980-98. Claims in 1998 that Talbot abused a student in 1984-85. Suspended. Sent to St. Luke's Institute in MD for treatment. Claim settled in 2001. Allegations by at least eight men in 2002 that he abused them as minors 1972-80. Criminal charges filed but dropped. Fourteen claims settled 1/03 for $5.2M. Pled guilty 2005 to raping two teenagers 1977-79. Sentenced to five to seven years. On sex offender registry. Released from prison 3/18/11. Living at Vianney Center in Dittmer, MO. Omitted from 2011 Boston list. Laicized in 2013. Indicted in 11/17, accused of sexual assault of 8- or 9-year-old boy in Freeport ME between 5/1/97 and 6/14/98. Pled not guilty 12/1/17. Pled guilty 9/24/18. Sentence to 10 years' prison for gross sex assault with all but three years suspended, and three years concurrent sentence for unlawful sexual contact. New suit in 4/21.

One of 21 priests placed on administrative leave by the Philadelphia archdiocese 3/7/11 pending investigation of credible allegations involving sexual abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors. Last assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Patrick's in Malvern. Review Board could not prove accusations but permanently removed him 12/13 for violations of standards of ministerial behavior.

First named publicly as accused in the 8/14/18 PA Grand Jury Report. In 2/97 a man told the diocese that when he was age 13 in 1976, Tamalis sexually abused him, after plying him with alcohol. Tamalis was sent for an evaluation and admitted to probably abusing nine boys and young men; evaluators said there were likely far more. More victims later came forward. No prosecutions due to the statute of limitations. Laicized 12/07. On diocese's list 8/19/18.

Ordained in the Philippines. Began work in the L.A. archdiocese in 1968; incardinated in 1978. Accused along with six other priests in a 1984 civil suit of abuse of a girl in 1984. Girl gave birth to a daughter in 1982. He fled to the Philippines. Died in 1996 or 1999. Per 2004 archdiocesan report, Tamayo was accused of abuse of a minor 1978-84. Claims against all 7 priests settled for $500K in $660M settlement in Fall, 2007. Personnel files released in 1/13 show he was also alleged to have abused a boy.

One of 4 priests accused of abusing teenage boy 1996-1998 at St. Simon Stock in the Bronx. The boy worked in the rectory as a secretary; said the priests plied him with alcohol and porn, offered him money for sex, had him watch them group masturbate and threatened him with harm if he told. Transferred out 1999 after family went to the Archdiocese and Order. Assigned as chaplain to psychiatric hospital in Middletown NY while living at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish. Suspended 2001 after publicity about the case. Supported by Order through at least 2002. Arrested 2002 for harassing young man he met at NYC gay bar. Arrested again in 7/2005 for taking erotic photos of a 15-year-old boy and approaching another boy for the same. Convicted 3/30/2006. Sentenced 6/2006 to 5-15 years in prison. May also have offended while working in Peru prior to ordination.

First named publicly as accused in the 8/14/18 PA Grand Jury Report. Included in 8/18 on the diocese's list of credibly accused. Died in 1994. In 4/02 a man told the diocese that Tamilowski touched him inappropriately in the 1960s, when he was an altar boy at Assumption parish in Leechburg and the Mission of St. Mary. The man said that on several occasions Tamilowski pushed him into a corner of the sacristy, grabbed his crotch, and told him his parents wouldn't believe him if he told. The accuser also said that many years prior to 2002 he told the office manager for the diocese of the abuse, whose response was to tell him to "not rock the boat." Suit filed by a man in 10/18, claiming abuse by Tamilowski for three years, starting in 1978 when he was an altar boy at St. Hyacinth in Monessen. A second suit was filed in 12/18 by a man alleging abuse ages 14-18 in the late 1970s at St. Hyacinth.

Fr. Gerardo Jarencio Tanilong

Monsignor. Per 7/03 articles, Tanilong was arrested after a 15-year-old girl complained that he had molested her earlier in the week. Placed on leave. Had been part of the Diocese for 17 years. Came from the Philippines in 1986; incardinated into the diocese in 1990. Entered a plea of guilty on 1/30/04 and in 4/04 was sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation. Diocese permanently suspended his privileges. On sex offender registry 2/12. In violation of registration requirements since 10/09. Died sometime before 8/12/16, per diocesan status list.

Allegedly abused a student in 1979 at St. John's Prep. Sent for treatment then allowed to return to teaching at the school. In a 1992 civil suit, he was accused of molesting another boy at least three times in 1982 at school. On medical leave in 1992. Worked as director of the Oblate program at St. John's Abbey and lived under restrictions. Relieved of duties after a second suit was filed in 6/02 claiming abuse in 1985. A 7/12 lawsuit alleged fraud against Abbey. Suit filed 6/5/13 alleged abuse of a student in 1997; settled in 2015. On Abbey's 12/9/13 list. Suit filed 4/12/16 by a former St. John's Prep student claiming abuse 1979 or '80; plaintiff also accused Rev. Thomas Andert. Tarlton died in 1/16.

Accused in 1994 of abuse in the late 1950s of an altar boy and student at Fourteen Holy Martyrs in Baltimore, when the boy was in 3rd to 5th grades. In 2003 a man reported abuse by Tasch 1955-1956 when he was a Holy Martyrs altar boy, and that Tasch was often seen with young boys by his side. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report.

Ordained for the Erie diocese. Assigned to the Tucson diocese in 1981 and again in 1984. Became a priest of the Diocese of Tucson in 1992. Placed on leave by Tucson in 1999 after it learned of allegations against him of abuse occurring during his time in Erie. Taylor said that he had taken some people with him on a vacation and they claimed that he touched them during the night. One adult and two teenagers were on the trip. Included on the Tucson diocese's list of credibly accused.  On the Diocese of Erie's list 4/6/2018. Noted to be forbidden to function as a priest. Per the list updated 1/18/2024, Taylor died in 9/2023.

Charged with endangering welfare of a child for inappropriate physical contact, telephone calls, text messages and photos with a 15-year-old girl between 10/13 and 4/14. He met the girl while Deacon and Youth Minister for Corpus Christi parish in Clifton Park, NY. Her parents contacted police when they learned of his actions. Was also U.S. Army captain. Pled guilty 8/13/14 to endangering welfare of a child. Accepted plea deal, avoided jail.

From Ireland. Associated with St. John's Abbey from the 1960s. Was reportedly sent to the Bahamas in 1980 for a year after allegations. Sent there again in 1990 due to "rumors." Worked in the Bahamas for 20 years. In 6/12 a young man publicly confronted Taylor at mass, claiming the priest tried to pursue a sexual relationship with him for the previous year and a half. Taylor had been scheduled leave the Bahamas 6/24/12 for parish assignment in Collegeville, but left several weeks early, after the confrontation, "for health reasons." Also in 6/12 a man alleged abuse by Taylor as a St. John's Prep student in the early 1980s. The new assignment was put on hold. Taylor is believed to have returned to Ireland. Attorney for the Abbey was conducting an investigation.

Teacher at an all-girls Catholic school in Connecticut when he resigned in 6/2002 after it was revealed that he was "defrocked" for allegedly molesting boys in Trinidad in 1997. He was principal of a school in Trinidad; quit in 1997 after several alleged victims came forward. More victims came forward in 2002.

Following a recent court order, on 12/16/2013 Bishop Quinn released a list of 13 names of priests who had credible allegations against them of abuse involving minors. Taylor's inclusion on this list is the first public notice that he had been accused of abuse. The Diocese updated the information on its list 6/23/2014. It received an allegation in 8/1994 that he had sexually abused a minor male in 1983. Taylor was asked to go to treatment but refused. He was then suspended from ministry in 2/1995. Died 5/10/2012.

Fr. Thomas H. Teczar

Diocese: Diocese of Worcester MA

Removed from the Worcester, MA diocese in 1986 for sexually abusing boys. Later became a visiting priest in the Fort Worth, TX diocese whose bishop, Joseph Delaney, knew of Teczar's history and acknowledged the risk in hiring him. Teczar was convicted in 2007 of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old TX boy in 1990. That conviction was overturned in 2007, but a retrial in 2009 resulted again in conviction. Sentenced to 50 years in prison. His victim testified that Teczar had shown him pornography and plied him with alcohol and marijuana. Subject of multiple lawsuits: In 10/2002 a MA jury found for a plaintiff who had filed a suit in 1996; no damages awarded. Civil suits by five plaintiffs in Fort Worth and Amarillo settled in 2005 and 2007. Another claim settled in 2/2008. Laicization announced 9/9/2011. Teczar sought early parole for medical reasons in 6/2013; denied after public outcry to the parole board. Died in prison in 3/2015.

In testimony before the RI Senate Judiciary Committee in 3/19, a 73-year-old woman said Tedeschi sexually abused her for over a year, when she was in middle school and Tedeschi was assigned to Holy Trinity in Central Falls. She said her family lived across the street from the parish and that the abuse occurred in the sanctuary, rectory, his car, and in school hallways. She said it continued after he left Holy Trinity and she was a Sacred Heart High School student. Further, she allegedly told another priest during confession when she was 15, and he told her never to tell. She said she confronted Tedeschi when she was age 22, and he admitted his behavior. She also said she told the diocese. She again informed the diocese in 2012, and they contacted law enforcement. Tedeschi died 10/18/86. On the diocese's list 7/1/19.

It notes accusations of abuse of three boys, earliest known to have occurred in the 1950s. Worked in many other dioceses. Spent time in the Dodge City KS diocese 1966-1968. On the Diocese of Owensboro list 4/12/2019, where he worked 1972-1978. Died in 1995. Added to Stockton diocese's list 11/12/2020, where he worked 1978-1984. The Davenport diocese's updated list in 2/2022 shows that he was accused of abusing four male minors. Included on the Diocese of Superior's list in 11/2022; one allegation of abuse there 1961-1962 in Rib Lake and 1962-1966 in Park Falls.

Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 11/8/2018. Died in 12/1980. Included in the 3/24/2023 GA PAC Report. In 8/2004 a woman reported that Teoli sexually abused her 30 years prior, when she was in grades 7 and 8 and he was pastor of St. Michael's in Tybee. She said the abuse continued after his transfer to Nativity in Thunderbolt, GA. She was offered but declined a $40,000. settlement. Accused in 1/2007 of sexually abusing a boy  1963-1967. The Diocese deemed the allegations unsubstantiated and gave the man $5000. In 4/2008 a woman alleged abuse by Teoli around 1956-1963, beginning when she was age 8. She received a settlement of $50,000. Another woman alleging abuse as a child by Teoli also received a $50,000. settlement in 2008.

Fr. Richard Gerard Terdine

First named publicly as accused in the 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. Included on the diocese's list of accused. Accused in 12/1988 of the sexual abuse of a 16-year-old boy who worked part time at St. Peter's in Keesport rectory, where Terdine was assigned. Terdine allegedly touched the boy's genital area on several occasions, gave him an x-rated video and condoms, and massaged his back. He resigned from St. Peter's and was sent to St. Luke Institute in MD for evaluation. He was returned to restricted ministry as a hospital chaplain. Living in 12/2018 at St. John Vianney Manor.

Named publicly as credibly accused by the Pensacola-Tallahassee diocese on its list in 2020. Died in 1962. (Arrested in 1946 for disorderly conduct after giving a speech in Chicago against Jews, the Roosevelts, Communists and others, resulting in a riot. Convicted. Conviction was overturned in 1949.)

He asked a priest in 8/02 to tell the bishop that he had been approached about a past incident with an adult when he was a deacon. The bishop investigated and learned of several incidents of sexual misconduct with minors during the late-1970s and mid-'80s. There had been rumors about 10 years previously. Bishop Sullivan investigated at the time, but could not substantiate. There may have been complaints in the 1970s and 1980s that were overlooked during the review of priest files in mid-2002. On diocese's list 2/13/19. Died in 10/20.

Named in another suit filed in 9/2004. Often associated with R. Trupia, another abuser. The Diocese paid him $900 per month 1991-2004. Included on the diocese's list of credibly accused. Accused in a suit filed in 1/2021 of abuse of a minor while assigned to St. Joseph's in Bound Brook 1974-1977.

Admitted in 2005 to downloading child porn while working at St. Ann's in Tobyhanna PA in 01/05. Arrested in West Orange NJ while staying at St. Anthony of Padua. On 12/31/2013 the diocese released its list of 17 clergy, including Thibaudeau, who had been credibly accused of the sexual abuse of young persons while serving in the diocese, and another five who had been accused while residing in the diocese at some time. Thibaudeau was assigned to St. Jean's in Duluth from 6/1910 to sometime in 1943. He died in 1946 in Manitoba, Canada. An allegation made against him at some point after his death.

The suit involved multiple plaintiffs and named multiple priests as defendants. Per Attorney Durso, almost all claims were settled. On the Xaverian Brothers' list 7/12/2019. It notes allegations reported in 2007 and later of abuse in the late- 1950s to early- 1960s in Baltimore, MD and Roxbury, MA. The man who came forward in 2007 said Thibault molested him as a student at Mount St. Joseph's High School in Baltimore in 1961 or 1962, and that he told the principal. No action. Included on Baltimore's list of credibly accused 7/23/2019, and in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report.

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/2023 of sexually abusing a boy, age 12, in the late 1960s. Thibodeau was assigned at the time as chaplain at the Notre Dame Institute in Alfred. Thibodeau allegedly gave the boy and others alcohol in his living quarters, then isolated the boy and abused him. The boy tried to run away from the school with a classmate after several more incidents of abuse, but was returned by police and "corporally punished." Thibideau died in 2017.

Living in Grand Rapids MI in 2004 when accused in a lawsuit of abuse of a middle-school boy 1978-81 at a parish in Pine Lawn, MO. Had resigned in 1994 from Grand Rapids High School in Grand Rapids MI after the Redemptorists informed the Grand Rapids dioceses of allegations that Thiel had abused in St. Louis. Faculties in the Grand Rapids diocese revoked. There were reportedly several confidential settlements related to allegations of abuse dating from the 1970s. The Redemptorists said they asked Thiel to leave the order in 1997. Another man sued in 2005, claiming abuse as a boy by Thiel 1974-79 and that the priest gave him a sexually transmitted disease. The 2004 suit settled in 3/07 for $140K. Three other priests were named in the settlement.

A woman filed suit in 8/03 alleging that Thieneman sexually abused her several times in the 1974-75 school year. The nun allegedly would take her out of class for counseling and abuse her. The alleged victim told her parents in 1983 or 1984 and a psychological evaluation supported her claims. Her father went to the Order in 1984, but no action. Order said there were no other complaints. The woman herself went to Archbishop Kelly in 1992. He said that Thieneman was assigned to a hospital in a controlled environment. Suit withdrawn in 1/03. Thieneman died 1/21/13.

To register as a sex offender. Two prior arrests for indecent exposure, first in 1990 and one in 1993 when found by police "running around naked looking for others." Convicted in the 1993 case. On diocese's list 1/17/2019. Sentenced by Vatican to life of prayer and penance. Laicized in 2018. Arrested 1/29/2019 on probation violation for seeking out and having contact with children. In 5/10 a man said he told the archdiocese of "inappropriate sexual behavior" with him in the early 1990s when he was age 20. Thompson was sent for alcohol abuse treatment. Review board found allegations not supported by evidence. Thompson reinstated in 1/11 and then retired.

Archdiocese did not tell the parish about the allegations for almost 10 days after Thomson's death. Then it announced that the investigation was closed. Name included on the Boston archdiocese's list released in 8/11.

Fr. Guy S. Thoren

Removed in 6/2002 after the diocese said it had substantiated an allegation of abuse of a minor dating back more than 25 years. Thoren had just been transferred into a new parish to replace Joseph Carne, who had been removed because of sexual abuse allegations. Included in the MI Attorney General's 10/2022 report, which reveals multiple allegations. Report in 6/2002 of abuse of a 7th-8th grade boy 1977-1979; Thoren said the allegations were "partially true." Sent to St. Luke's for assessment. Report from a Jesuit brother in 6/2002 of boundary violations by Thoren against him when he was ages 17-18 . He also said a friend told him in 1991 that Thoren grabbed him aggressively in a sexual manner in a sauna. Further, he said a boy, about age 16, would often stay the night in the rectory; the boy died of an overdose in about 1996. In 7/2002 a man reported sexual abuse by Thoren when he was 15 in 1974. Another report, in 2008, by a man that Thoren abused him multiple times in at age 13 or 14 in the early 1970s at a sauna. The same man alleged abuse by Fr. James Wolf. Thoren retired to Florida, per his obituary. He died 12/17/2011, at age 66.

At least 3 civil suits and 2 criminal indictments filed 1986-1987 in MS. One plaintiff claimed abuse by Thorne 1980-1986 beginning when he was age 14 in at Holy Ghost church in the Jackson diocese. Another man alleged abuse at the same parish as a 9-year-old boy. Thorne died in 11/2004. On the Jackson diocese's list 3/19/2019. It notes alleged abuse in 1986 reported same year, removed from the diocese in 1987. Included on the Order's Southern, Western, and Chicago Provinces lists of credibly accused.

Fr. Robert Michael Thurner

Admitted in 1991 that he abused a boy in 1982; Archbishop Roach kept him in ministry. Per his deposition, his sexual history began at ordination in 1951 when he frequented adult bookstores and gay bathhouses. Civil suits filed in 1991 and 1993 accused him of molesting at least three boys. The 1993 suit was settled and dismissed in 3/94. Results of the 1991 suit unknown. Retired in 1991. Permanently removed from ministry in 2002. New suit filed 10/29/13 by a woman alleging abuse by Thurner when she was a second grader in the mid-1980s. Included in 12/13 on the archdiocese's list of credibly accused. Thurner died in 2016.

Sentenced 11/10 to 6 to 72 months in state prison, fined, and ordered to register as sex offender. Released 6/12 on parole; worked for nonprofit; on leave without faculties. Laicized 1/24/14. Fr. Gary Timmons

News in 12/18 that Timone was accused in 2002 and 2003 of abuse late 1960s-early 1970s of teen boys he was counseling. Suspended, then returned to ministry. One of his alleged victims died by suicide in 1/15. Subject of two IRCP settlements in 2017. Remained in ministry. Suspended in 12/18 after publicity. NY archdiocesan review board to revisit the case. Had also been working at times as a chaplain, spiritual advisor and teacher at John Paul the Great Catholic University in CA, and assisting at a Rancho Santa Fe CA parish. The NY archdiocese told the University 12/18 that Timone had never been accused and was fit to serve, even though he was then being investigated. Longtime chaplain for Courage and Encourage International, an apostolate to help homosexuals "live chaste lives." On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. Review Board process pending. Lawsuit 7/19 by man claiming church covered up Timone and Msgr. John Paddack's histories of abusing and kept them in ministry. The archdiocese's list updated in 6/22 shows that the review board had deemed the allegation credible and substantiated and that a canonical process was pending.

Fr. Daniel J. Tisak

Accused in 7/2011 of molesting a 17- or 18-year-old male during confession at St. Bernard's in Simsbury. Suspended. Arrested. Pleaded no contest 9/2012. Accused in a 9/2014 lawsuit of repeated sexual assault of a 13- to 14-year-old boy 2000-2001, while associate pastor of St. John the Evangelist, Watertown, CT. Abuse was said to have occurred in Tissera's rectory bedroom, after he invited the boy for spiritual guidance and counseling. Settled in 10/2016. Laicized 5/29/2018. On the archdiocese's list 1/22/2019.

Fr. Gary B. Tollner

In 1982, Tollner's sister accused him of molesting his special needs nephew, age 22, who had the mental age of 12. Parishioners spoke of "suspicious behavior" involving young boys, alcohol and drugs in the hot tub Tollner had installed on the rectory roof. Reportedly abused six children. One alleged victim is said to have become an addict by age 12 and died by suicide years later, citing abuse by Tollner in his suicide note. Removed from ministry in 1995. In 2/04, Bishop Vigneron publicly apologized to the parish community of St. Philip Neri, Alameda. Tollner died 2/17/99. On diocese's list 2/17/19. Abuse noted 1960s, 1970s, 1980s.

Fr. Louis Toma

Several women told the archdiocese in 2006 that Toma and another priest had abused many young girls during his 50 years as pastor of St. Lazarus in Boston. A representative of the archdiocese said the "women's stories were individually convincing, collectively consistent, and showed a pattern of recognizable abuse." Toma died in 1961. Tome was in seminary and called himself a Deacon. The family were dependent on their mother's work for Msgr. Karg at St. Brigid's. The parents allegedly often had Tome, Karg and another priest over for drinks. The alleged victims told the Grand Jury they were sure Karg knew of the abuse. Tome is noted in the GJ report to have failed out of seminary. Included on the Diocese of Erie's list updated in 1/2023.

Reportedly in 4/2002, Tomicky was not in active ministry because of allegations in the past of the abuse of minors. Worked in parishes in Akron, Strongsville and Cleveland. Per the Official Catholic Directory, he was absent on leave 1984-1987 and 1988-1989. Died in 2/2020. His obituary states that in 1980 he became an Air Force chaplain; the Directories show him as a missionary in El Salvador 1980-1983. The obituary also shows that in 3/1987 he was a Huron Road and University Hospital chaplain, then assigned as resident chaplain 7/1988 at St. John's Hospital. He retired in 1989. Noted on the diocese's list 6/21/2019 to be retired with total and permanent disability and no faculties for public ministry; ministry restricted due to an allegation which had not yet been substantiated. The main celebrant at his funeral mass was Auxiliary Bishop Roger Gries. 


Fr. James Toner

Died in 1957, age 78. Civil suit filed by three men 8/26/2010 claimed abuse at Briscoe Memorial School, including an allegation that Toner abused a boy there in 1944. The youth allegedly fled the school and reported the abuse to the Archdiocese in the same year, but no action. Toner was at St. Benedict's Mission (later called Our Lady Queen of Heaven) in Tacoma 1939-1946. His ordination date is unclear; he arrived in WA state in 1925 from Vancouver. Name included on the archdiocese's 1/15/2016 list of clergy and religious with established, admitted or credible allegations against them of sexual abuse of a minor.

Fr. Jerome Toohey

"Jeff." Accused in 12/1993 of sexually abusing a male Calvert Hall High school student he was counseling, from 1985-1989. Denied the allegations, refused to go to treatment. On leave without faculties from 1993. Suit filed in 1994, dismissed in 1996. Accused in 2004 of sexually abusing another Calvert Hall student, from 1987-1990. Criminally charged in 5/2005. Pleaded guilty. Sentenced to five years in prison, all but 18 months suspended, and 18 months of supervised probation. Released after 10 months. Laicization announced in 5/2008. On sex offender registry. Settlement for $30K in 2014 with another victim. Allegation in 2015 of abuse 1980-1987. Two more settlements, for $85K and $100K.  Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report.

Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 8/5/19. Allegations deemed substantiated. Removed from ministry. Laicized in 1972. Went on to marry and raise a family. Filed suit in 11/19 against the archdiocese, claiming it falsely named him as an alleged abuser. Toohey denied abuse, said the archdiocese had not informed him of the accusation before the list was released, and that it refused to provide details of the allegations.

Missing in the diocese's 10/18 report was the fact that Toro was currently in jail, since 10/17, accused of molesting two girls - one age between age 4 and 6 in 2011, the other age 11 in 2016. Suit filed in 2/19.

Accused in 1993 of repeatedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy in the 1960s-early 1970s. After one occasion at the rectory of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, the boy told the parish janitor, who told a priest. The priest told the boy that Toulas was gone and it would never happen again. Removed in 1993 after his victim came forward, sent to St. Luke Institute for treatment. Toulas admitted the abuse, which occurred while he was visiting Baltimore during a break from missionary work in Brazil. He died in 2000. His name was  included on the Baltimore archdiocese's list of accused released in 9/2002. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report.

The suit settled in 11/2006 for $350K. A new suit was filed by 8 men in 7/2007. A 10th man filed suit in 10/2008. Included in a 3/25/2011 settlement. Name included on the Seattle archdiocese's list 1/15/2016. Fr. Charles Townsend

Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 4/2/2019. Accused of misconduct/grooming, including supplying a 19-year-old male with alcohol in 2017. He was placed on leave in 2018. Pleaded no contest to criminal charges in 3/2019.  Per the NE Attorney General's Report released in 11/2021, Townsend favored a small group of altar servers at his parish. He would have teenage boys at the rectory late into the evening, allow them to drive his car, and he took a few of them on a long trip. In early 2017 church officials gave Townsend a canonical warning, concerned that his behavior would cause scandal. 


Fr. Edward Townsend

Priest of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary (Eudists). Taught at Cardinal Dougherty High School 1963-69. A man stated publicly in 3/18 that Townsend sexually abused him over 5 years in the 1960s, starting when he was age 5. He said he reported the abuse to the diocese in 2006. A second man told a news outlet in 3/18 that Townsend also abused him, at ages 7 and 8. Report in 2008 to the Diocese of Manchester NH that Townsend sexually abused a child, ages 6 and 7, in a rectory parking lot in Farmington NH in Fall 1975 through early 1977. The diocese said he did not serve there. Name not found in the Official Catholic Directory. Townsend died in 1998. Lawsuit in 8/19 claimed abuse of a boy, ages 8-11, 1963-67 in Buffalo.

Fr. Joe C. Townsend

Placed on leave in 7/19 by the diocese, due to a "non-frivolous allegation of sexual misconduct with a minor." Townsend denied the allegation. The abuse allegedly occurred sometime during his assignment at St. Pius X in Tulsa 6/88-6/91. After an internal investigation, the diocese announced on 12/3/19 that the allegation was determined to be "unsubstantiated" and Townsend was free to return to public ministry.

Monsignor. Placed on leave in in 10/14 due to an allegation that he sexually abused a boy in the mid-1970s while assigned to a Bergenfield parish. His accuser received a settlement in 2016. The archdiocese deemed the allegation credible. Canonical process initiated in 2015 was ongoing in 2/19. Trabold died 4/17/22.

Superintendent of Catholic Schools, among other prominent diocesan position. Teacher, track coach, parish priest. Was a Holy Cross brother (Bro. Eugene) prior to priesthood. Accused of sexual misconduct with high school and college students. Also identified as having sexually abused a teenager who later became a priest. Tracey was fired from his job at Lafayette Central Catholic High School in the early 1980s for abusing a male student in an incident involving alcohol. Was retired when he died 6/4/89. On diocese's list 9/28/18.

Fr. Gerard Trageser

Accused in 1958 of abuse beginning in 1956 of a girl, age 13. Criminally charged. Trial was kept private in a judge's chambers. In exchange for no jail time, Archbishop Keough promised the judge that Trageser would never return to MD. Sent to Via Coeli in NM for treatment. The girl was sent to a "school of correction." The girl's mother had gone to a newspaper; Keough told Via Coeli's director that "prolonged and extremely careful negotiations and the happy influence of a highly placed newspaper man prevented the entire scandal from becoming public knowledge." Keough arranged for Trageser to be accepted into the Diocese of Salt Lake City. The Official Catholic Directory shows him beginning in 1959 as assigned to an Ogden UT parish. By 1969 he was a rural dean, with the title "Very Rev.",  and pastor of a parish in Price UT. In 1970 he was administrator of a high school and grade school in Price. He is last shown in the 1971 Directory. Name appeared on Baltimore's 9/2002 list of accused priests and religious (as "Gerald Tragesser.") He was "released from the priesthood" in 1976. Died in 2013. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report.

Fr. Henry J. Trainor

Diocese: Archdiocese of San Francisco CA

Trainor was placed on leave in summer 2002 from his position as chaplain at Lagunda Honda Hospital. He had previously taken a leave from the priesthood after earlier allegations of abuse. Archbishop Levada brought him back in 2000; suspended in 2002 after prosecutors were given information about the allegations, some of which were about 10 years old. Status was absent on leave 2002-07, after which the Catholic Directories show him as retired, until at least 2017.

Fr. Lawrence M. Trainor

A man claimed that in 1971 he was sexually abused by Trainor at Holy Name Seminary in Madison and by other priests over a period of several years. Trainor was named by Diocese of Madison in 2003 as an abusive priest; diocese admitted to a settlement with a victim. Removed from ministry in 1989, laicized in 2011. Settlement in 1992 with a woman who claimed abuse, including rape, by Trainor when she was age 7 in 1965. She and her family attended Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Monona, where Trainor was assigned.

Fr. Michael G. Trainor

Trainor was the subject of at least three lawsuits filed by up to 18 plaintiffs beginning in 1994. Accused of the sexual abuse of boys, some as young as age 9. Diocese admitted paying settlements on behalf of Trainor and other priests. Trainor left Wisconsin in 1984 after two parents complained. Sent to New Mexico for treatment. Worked in Montana parishes 1985 until 1991 when he left the priesthood. New allegations surfaced in 12/02 of abuse in 1980. Laicized in 2010. Died in 2016.

Fr. Tan Van Tran

Fr. Francis X. Trauger

Accused of abuse of two or three boys in early 1980s and another in 1991. Allegedly took boys on overnight trips, shared a bed with them. Removed in 2003. Laicized 5/20/05. Named in at least two civil suits. Name included on secret 1994 memo from Msgr. Lynn (released 2/27/12) regarding priests in secret archives who were accused of abuse but no credible evidence found. In 2012 two men testified in Msgr. Lynn's trial about abuse by Trauger. Accused in new suit filed 9/18/12. Charged in 9/19 with abuse of two Tullytown altar boys, ages 11 and 12, one in 1996 and the other in 2000. Living in Brooklyn NY in 9/19. Suit filed 12/19. Pled gulty in 7/20. Sentenced to 18-36 months in state prison and 7 years probation.

Br. Benjamin A. Trautman

Headmaster at Delbarton School in NJ 1999-2007; taught there before and after that time. In 2011, two former students accused him of sexual misconduct in the 1980s. One said Travers grabbed his crotch and butt. The other said Travers "crossed boundaries" both while he was a student and later. Removed from current position at Mary Mother of the Church Abbey in VA. Three other accusers came forward. Suit filed 3/20/12. Living under restrictions at Abbey until he severed ties with it in 4/12. Settlement in 6/18 with five men alleging abuse at Delbarton School. New suits in 12/20.

Accused 2/1/05 of abusing 14-year-old boy, along with seminarian Donald P. McCarthy, in 1955 . Abuse allegedly included rape and oral battery, and the boy silenced by threats. Complaint states diocese was contacted 1990 and Bishop Friend confirmed in 2004 that Tremblay was a pedophile who abused 'numerous youths.' Per Diocese, Tremblay was removed 1987 for 'attempted, unwanted physical advance toward a minor.' Reportedly defrocked 1989. Trained in Quebec and New Orleans. Died 1/13/02. On diocese's list 2/6/19. Settlements in 2004 and 2005.

It notes an allegation received in 1991 of abuse in the 1980s in IL. Ministry restricted in 1991. Permanently removed from ministry in 2002. Living in a nursing facility without access to minors. Died 11/3/2021 at Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, IN. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Fr. Thomas A. Trepanier

In 1998 a man told the archdiocese he was abused at ages 15-18 in 1977-79 by Trepanier, at St. Robert Parish in Shorewood. Trepanier resigned from his position in 5/02 after old allegations were investigated by the archdiocese. He wrote a letter telling his parishes of his background. As of 5/02, he was one of six priests with credible allegation of past abuse who were still working in active ministry. He remained fully restricted from ministry as of 3/12, per archdiocese website. Archbishop Dolan tried to have him laicized.

Tripp left MA in 1983 to work at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA. Per the 1993 Catholic Directory, he was on special assignment with St. Mary's Hospital in the San Francisco archdiocese. San Francisco Faith 2/03 newsletter shows a Kevin Tripp as executive director of the Marin Interfaith Council in San Rafael, CA. In 4/20 he appears to be living in Santa Rosa, CA and is no longer presenting as a priest; his Facebook page shows him to be a hospice worker and he has a website touting his services as a wedding officiant. Returned to ministry as pastor of two Nesquehoning parishes. Resigned in 2/2002. In 5/2002 another man reported sexual abuse as a minor by Tucci 1977-1978. Tucci requested laicization in 2005; granted in 4/2007. Arrested in 12/2012 on charges that in 1981 he took a PA boy to Ocean City MD and molested him. The boy attended a Shenandoah parish and school where Tucci was assigned. Tucci admitted to being aroused when he wrestled with and tickled the boy on a motel room bed. Last known to be living in Salisbury MD. Named in the 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. Included on the Allentown diocese's 8/19/2018 list of credibly accused. Accused in a lawsuit 11/2018 of abuse 1999-2001 of a Nesquehoning altar boy, ages 10-12. Settled.

Fr. Franklin J. Tuchols

Accused by a man in his early 60s in a lawsuit 8/19 of raping and molesting him at age 10 or 11. The man also accused Revs. Peter Popadick, Paul Nogaro and a "Fr. Mike." He also claimed molestation by two teachers at St. Mary of Sorrows church and school. He said the abuse occurred at St. Mary's and at Bishop Fallon High School. In 1995 Tuchols was caught in a sting by the DEA buying crack cocaine. Working at the time as Childrens Hospital chaplain, and was previously a Catholic Charities' marriage and family counselor.

Charges dismissed in 1980. Both came forward in 2004 after learning he had been assigned to a parish since 1983. They said a church official threatened families in 1979 to keep them quiet. Permanent leave in 2004. A third claim settled in 1/2007. Two more claims settled as of 4/2008. Another in 12/2008. Settlement in 3/2012 for $265K. In 9/2015 the Paterson diocese settled for "six figures" with a woman claiming Tully fondled her over 20 times in 1977 when he was Pope Piux XII High School vice-principal and she was student, age 16. Total of $2.1M in settlements with at least nine alleged Tully victims, abused at ages 8-16. Laicized in 2004. Abuse reported in 2011 to the Archdiocese of Washington DC. Laicized 1/22/2016. Fr. Florencio Peneda Tumang

In a 1993 civil suit, four families alleged their daughters were abused by Tumang between 1987 and 1992. Parents of one of them allegedly told diocesan officials in 1990, but no action was taken. Tumang later assaulted the fourth girl, who was age 14. Tumang was indicted twice in 1992 but fled, possibly to the Philippines. Warrants were out for his arrest. Included on the diocese's list of credibly accused 2/13/2019. Per the list, Tumang was ordained in 1980, but the Official Catholic Directories show his ordination as 1948. Deceased.

Faculties were removed in 8/2002 after officials were contacted by a person who charged that he was involved in inappropriate conduct involving a minor about 30 years previously. During the investigation, a second person came forward with allegations. Tupper denied all accusations. Died 07/27/2004. Added to the Gaylord diocese's list of credibly accused in 4/2021. Included in the MI Attorney General's 1/8/2024 Gaylord report. Accused in 1994 of sexual misconduct toward a hospital patient, who was an adult woman. Settlement of $20k. Report in 4/2002 that Tupper tried to rape a girl, age 15 or 16, in around 1969. His accuser said he also abused a teenage boy and was in "negative situations" with two adult women. The diocese interviewed the alleged male victim who acknowledged abuse by Tupper.

Per the order in 2021, Turrion was assigned to work with adults outside of the U.S. Worked 2007-14 at Pontifical International College Maria Mater Ecclesiae in Rome. He left the priesthood in 2017 after fathering two children.

Tynan, a 45-year-old ordained deacon, was two days away from becoming an ordained priest in 6/2004 when he was placed on leave after the Diocese learned that he was being investigated by US Customs for possession of child pornography. His name had appeared on a child porn web site based in a foreign country. The reason he was not ordained for priesthood was not announced until 10/2004, when he was criminally charged. Included on the Diocese's list. Laicized in 2006. Sentenced to three years in prison. Included on the OH sex offender registry.
