Per a statement released by the Diocese of Spokane in 11/2007, O'Brien was the subject of an accusation that was found to be credible or proven. He died 9/10/1989. Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018. It notes claims reported in 2009 of abuse in 1978 and 1980. O'Brien was assigned to Gonzaga Prep in Spokane during the years of the alleged abuse.

Accused in a 2003 civil suit. Abuse was said to have occurred in the 1970s and 1980s, of at least one youth, at Hayward's Moreau High School. O'Brien is deceased.

On 1/30/1997, the Jesuits, the NY Archdiocese, and Fordham Prep settled for $25K a suit alleging that O'Brien sexually abused a boy in the early 1970s. O'Brien was principal of Fordham Prep 1960-1980 and of Fairfield Prep in the Bridgeport diocese 1983-1985. He also worked at St. Peter's Prep in the Newark archdiocese 1959-1960, and in 1995-2002 was president of the fundraising foundation for the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Included on the Northeast Jesuits list 1/15/2019. It notes that O'Brien admitted to allegations reported in 1993 of abuse of minors beginning in the 1960s. "Impeded" in 2002. O'Brien died in 2019.

Parish priest and pastor, diocesan CYO director, Young Catholic Adults director, dean, coordinator of deaneries, Priests' Council secretary, diocesan Pastoral Council member. Died in 1/2003. Accused in a 6/2009 civil suit of abusing one anonymous plaintiff in the early 1960s. The Diocese said there had been no previous complaints. Personnel file was to be released in 11/2009. New lawsuit filed in 6/2010 alleges abuse in the 1960s.

Accused in a lawsuit(s) filed in 2020 of child sexual abuse while assigned to St. Stephen's in Pennsauken and Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill NJ 1964-1966. Arrived in the diocese from Ireland in 1946. Per the Official Catholic Directory, O'Brien was named Monsignor in 1967. He was on sick leave 1970-1973, then on duty outside the diocese. He appears to have resurfaced in 1973 in Athens, AL in the Diocese of Birmingham. He died 11/28/1976.

Pastor of a number of archdiocesan parishes; started 'Pilgrimage for Vocations' in 1973, which were week-long walks for youth through northern NM, with sleepovers at parishes along the way. O'Brien died in 1/1993 at age 48 (possibly of AIDS, per plaintiff's attorney). In 2012 a man told the Archdiocese that he had been sexually abused by O'Brien at age 10-11 in the mid-1980s, when O'Brien was assigned to St. Anthony in Questa. The Archdiocese provided the man counseling for several months but it ceased when he retained an attorney. He filed a civil lawsuit 4/2/2013. Three more men filed suits a few weeks later, and six more shortly thereafter. By 12/2015 O'Brien was named as a perpetrator of sexual abuse of NM boys in the 1970s-1980s in 17 lawsuits, at least 9 of which had been settled. Included on the Santa Fe archdiocese's list 9/12/2017. In a 5/2019 proof of claim form in the Archdiocese's bankruptcy, a man wrote that he was sexually abused by O'Brien 1983-1985, beginning when he was age 8 and a St. Gertrude's altar boy in Mora NM, and that O'Brien passed him on to Fr. Gregory Tipton and a Deacon Karl, who abused him 1985-1987. Another alleged abuse, including rape, as an altar boy by O'Brien 1982-1984, at ages 8-10. A woman claimed in 6/2019 that O'Brien and another priests abused her older brothers who, in turn, abused her. Another man in 6/2019 claimed abuse, including rape, 1975-1978, ages 12-15. He was a Taos altar boy involved with the pilgrimages. Another claimed abuse as a boy 1976-1977, ages 14-15. A 11/2019 claim alleges the sexual abuse of a boy ages 11-16, 1971-1977. The claimant says he was one of the "elite altar boys" who traveled with O'Brien and that Archbishop Sanchez knew of the abuse. He said his brother and cousins were also abused by O'Brien, and that there were many suicides among the altar boys from the 1970s.

Ordained for the Scalabrinian Fathers in 1963. Assigned for five years to a parish in New Haven, CT. Studied in Rome for two years. Sent in 1970 to Thunder Bay, Canada where he worked with Italian immigrants. Arrived in the Archdiocese of Newark in 1974. Incardinated in 1977. Last appears in the 2005 volume of the Official Catholic Directory. Named publicly as credibly accused by the Newark archdiocese on its list 2/13/2019. One alleged victim noted. Deceased.

Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list in 2/2019. Permanently removed from ministry in 2002.

Pleaded no contest in 11/2000 to 4th degree sexual assault. Sentenced to 18 months' probation, a $1,000 fine, and ordered to undergo 6 months of psychiatric counseling for indecently touching a 17-year-old boy. He was permanently restricted from ministry in 2000 and laicized 4/3/2009. Multiple allegations received against him.

Monsignor. Multiple allegations of the abuse of minors. Chaplain at a Kansas City MO Hospital until he retired in 4/2002. Often worked in schools. Several plaintiffs filed suit in 1/2004 against O'Brien and two other priests. More suits filed 2004-2005. Settlement of one announced in 4/2007. Some claims settled in 8/2008 as part of a $10M settlement involving 12 priests. Named in new suits in 2/2011, 9/2011 and 11/2011. One was a wrongful death suit in the case of the 1983 suicide of a 14-year-old alleged victim. Named in over two dozen lawsuits. Wrongful death suit settled for $2.25M in 7/2013 during jury selection. Died in 10/2013. Settlement in 2014 for $10M with 31 plaintiffs involving 13 priests, including O'Brien. On the Springfield-Cape Girardeau diocese's list updated 4/1/2019, which notes allegations of abuse 1950-1954, reported in 2013. On the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph list 9/5/2019.

Sued in 2003 by two brothers claiming O'Brien abused them repeatedly 1951-1957 when he was assigned to St. Mary's in Richmond and they were altar boys. O'Brien died in 1967.

Made first vows as a Salesian brother in 1966. A suit filed in 3/2005 claimed sexual misconduct by O'Brien in 1978 and 1979 with a student at Mary Help of Christians School in Tampa, where he was principal. Known to have also worked in OH and Boston MA. Died in 1981. Included in 3/2020 on the Salesians' list of credibly accused.

Removed from public ministry in 6/2005. Included on the Archdiocese's list of accused 3/20/2006. Sued in 4/2006 by two alleged victims. Laicized in 7/2006. The Archdiocese settled at least one claim in a 5/2007 $6.65M settlement with 14 people alleging abuse by 12 priests. Included on the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes four "reported survivors," of abuse in Chicago 1975-1981 and in 1983. 

Formerly a Christian Brother, " Bro. Firmilian John." Ordained to the priesthood in 1975. The Pittsburgh diocese announced in 2/2019 that it had received an allegation that O'Brien abused a boy when he taught at Central Catholic High in the mid-1960s. He died in 2004. Name included on the diocese's list of accused.

Monsignor. Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 4/26/19. Claims against O'Brien eligible for the IRCP. Died in 2014.

Monsignor. Named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese on its list 7/26/2019. Allegations substantiated. Removed from ministry. Died in 2012.

Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits Midwest Province on its list 12/17/2018. Joined the Order in 1932. Multiple allegations of abuse occurring while assigned to Xavier University in 1958 and 1971-1982. O'Brien died 2/16/1983. Included in 2/2022 on the Cincinnati Archdiocese's list.

Monsignor. Parish priest until 1971. Canon lawyer. Vice-chancellor 1953-1955. Held positions on the archdiocesan tribunal for 45 years. Became a Maronite Catholic Chorbishop 11/12/1978. Held faculties in both the Roman and and Maronite Rites. Was on the Eparchial Marriage Tribunal of St. Maron 1974-1994. Died 11/22/1999. Name quietly added, along with 23 others, to the Los Angeles Archdiocese's Final Addendum posted on its website 1/31/2013.

Phoenix bishop 1982-2003. In 6/2003, to avoid indictment on a charge of obstructing justice, admitted to covering up child sex abuse by priests, a felony. Arrested days later, charged in a fatal hit-and-run car accident. Resigned. Convicted in 2/2004, received probation and community service. Accused in a 1/2016 lawsuit of repeated sexual abuse of a boy, grades 2-5, at St. Aquinas in Litchfield and St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, 1977-1982. The abuse allegedly including oral sex. O'Brien denied the allegations. The Diocese was notified in 9/2016. Died 8/26/2018.

Accused in a lawsuit settled in 6/2021 in the high five figures of sexually abusing a boy, ages 7-12, multiple times 1966-1971 while assigned to Christ the King in Hudson. O'Brien died in 2008.

Placed on leave in 9/2021 after the Archdiocese received a report that O'Brien abused an altar boy in the early 2000s. His accuser filed a lawsuit in 12/2021, alleging that O'Brien sexually assaulted him over four years, beginning in 2004 when he was age 7. O'Brien would allegedly beat the boy if he did not comply with his sexual demands. O'Brien was assigned to St. Mary's in Aspen 2002-2011, went on sabbatical for 6 months for health reasons, then was assigned as pastor to St. Anthony's in Julesburg. He denied the allegations. In 4/2023 the Archdiocese announced that law enforcement had determined that the allegations were "baseless" and the criminal case was closed. After the Archdiocese's investigation concluded it was announced that O'Brien would be returned to ministry 7/1/2023. A civil trial scheduled for 12/2023 was cancelled in 7/2023.

Ordained in 1895. Elevated in 1922 to monsignor. In 2018 an 82-year-old woman reported to the Diocese that O'Brien sexually abused her when she was 10 in the 1940s, at Annunciation Parish in Buffalo. O'Brien died in 1963, at age 101.

Named publicly as accused by the Pittsburgh diocese on its list in 2019. Died in 1992.

Accused publicly in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report, name redacted. Appears in the report as #154. The Archdiocese received a report in 9/2002 that O'Brien sexually abused a girl, age 15 or 16, in the mid-1970s. She also reported abuse by Fr. Roger Wooden and a lay teacher. O'Brien's accuser said that he told her he could help her get over her abusive teacher, she could help him get over a woman he had fallen in love with and that he would show her "how real love between a man and a woman could be." She reported the abuse to a parish priest. The girl never saw O'Brien again. There was apparently no other action. O'Brien went on Leave of Absence in 1976, requested laicization in 1977 and was laicized in 1978. Included on the Archdiocese of Baltimore's list of accused in 12/2024, which notes that another allegation against O'Brien of child sexual abuse surfaced in 2023.

Br. Sidney. Joined the order in 1941, withdrew in 1954. Named publicly as accused by the Xaverian order on its list in 3/2021 of deceased members with allegations against them which could not be fully investigated but had a semblance of truth. Accused of abusing at Camp Calvert in the early 1950s.

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 2/2026 of abusing a girl in 1978 at Subiaco Academy, where he was a teacher. Per the suit, O'Bryan sexually assaulted the girl during what was supposed to be a tutoring session.

From Ireland, where he was ordained for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Monsignor. Accused of abuse of a minor in 1965-1966, per the 2005 Los Angeles Archdiocesan Report addendum. Named in one lawsuit. Assigned to St. Catherine Laboure in Torrance CA 1976-2012, pastor for 26 years. Died 1/27/2016.

From Ireland, where he was ordained in 1922. Worked at an orphanage in Dublin prior to his arrival in Los Angeles in 1923. Incardinated in 1929. Elevated to Monsignor in 1962. Died in 1987. Accused of the sexual abuse of a minor 1956-1958, per the 2004 Los Angeles Archdiocesan report. Named in a civil suit.

A woman filed suit in 4/2004 alleging she was molested by O'Connell at ages 12-15 at St. Gabriel's in Whitehall, where O'Connell was pastor 1952-1983. O'Connell resigned in 1983 and died in 1986. Three more women filed suit later in 2004, alleging he sexually abused them as children. Claims included in Diocese's 9/2007 $1.25M settlement with 32 plaintiffs alleging abuse by 17 priests. Named in the 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. One woman alleged abuse at age 7. New suit filed 9/2018. Another filed in 11/2018. Named included on the diocese's list of accused. New suit in 6/2020.

Assigned to four parishes in three years, then became a Navy chaplain 1953-1958. Resigned to avoid court martial for "criminal homosexual contact." Reassigned in Providence. Arrested in 3/1985. Pleaded guilty to the sexual abuse of three boys 1972-1985; sentenced 6/23/1986 to five years, four suspended. Sent to St. Luke Institute for treatment. Retired in 1986 to Camden, NJ. Sexual abuse of three boys 1965-1972 was alleged in a lawsuit settled 6/11/1993 and a 10/31/1994 RICO suit. Arrested in NJ 12/1994. Pleaded guilty 12/19/1994 to sexual assault and making child pornography; sentenced to ten years in 2/1995. Other lawsuits part of 9/9/2002 and 3/2003 settlements. Included 7/1/2019 on the Diocese's list of credibly accused. Included in the 3/4/2026 RI Attorney General's Report which shows that O'Connell has been accused of the sexual abuse of at least 23 boys, ages 9-16, from 1950 to 1983. Most of the abuse reportedly occurred at St. Mary's in Bristol or O'Connell's home in South Kingstown. Some alleged that O'Connell abused them with other priests participating. One victim said that his father complained in 1970 and O'Connell was soon transferred. In 1978 a priest alerted Bishops Gelineau and Angell to complaints about O'Connell having a "steady stream of boys in the house" and that O'Connell "takes little boys alone with him for days off and overnights." The bishops did nothing; O'Connell continued to abuse. In 1984 there were more allegations. In 2/1985  O'Connell requested retirement due to his pending arrest. It was granted by Gelineau the same day. Parishioners wrote to Gelineau that they weren't surprised by the allegations and that "for years we have tried to tell you of our suspicions." O'Connell died in prison 5/12/1996.

Named publicly in 6/2021 by Attorney Jeff Anderson as the subject of claim(s) of child sexual abuse in the diocese's bankruptcy case. Elevated to Monsignor in 1989. Died 2/29/2008.

Parish priest in Manhattan, Mt. Vernon, Larchmont. Long-time Boys Scouts chaplain; National Catholic Committee on Scouting chair 1973-75; assistant director then director of Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Organizations 1973-78. Msgr. Died 11/21/84 at age 54. Accused of forcefully sodomizing a 12-year-old boy scout in 1973 at Camp Spes Mundi in Hope Falls NY. Accuser received settlement, announced 5/17. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19.

Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list in 3/21. It notes abuse allegedly occurring at St. Barnabas in Bellmore, where O'Connell was assigned 10/70-4/77, at a retreat house in upstate NY and in O'Connell's car. He was pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Patchogue 6/89 until his death 3/27/07.

From Ireland. Worked in Nigeria. Visiting priest in Fresno between assignments in 1970. Assigned to St. Anthony of Padua in Fresno. Accused in a 2013 civil suit of manually raping a 16-year-old girl. Her father died suddenly and O'Connell spent a lot of time with her family before allegedly raping her. Reportedly living in 2013 in a home for the Holy Ghost Fathers in Dublin, Ireland. In 2012, the same woman filed a separate suit against the Archdiocese of San Francisco for not doing anything when told of the abuse in 2003.

Suspended in 12/2013 from St. Alphonsus Parish after the Archdiocese received an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a minor at Our Lady of the Woods in Orland Park nearly 20 years prior. Allegations reported to Child and Family Services and Cook County DA. On 4/15/2014, the Cook County Sheriff's Dept deemed the allegation unfounded. The Archdiocese also said it found no reason to suspect that the abuse occurred and that O'Connell would be reinstated to St. Alphonsus. A new allegation received in about 4/18/2014 claimed abuse of a different boy in in the 1990s at the same parish. Police reopened the investigation; O'Connell had yet to be removed for a second time. He was to avoid the parish school and not be alone with a child.

Bishop of Knoxville 1988-98. Bishop of Palm Beach 1998-2002. Resigned in 3/2002 after admitting to inappropriate behavior with minors in MO decades prior. Two claims settled in 2004 for $5K each, paid by O'Connell, and more from the Jefferson City diocese. There were numerous other claims from MO. None known from the Palm Beach diocese. There were new accusers in MO in 5/2012, shortly after O'Connell's death 5/4/2012. Included on the Jefferson City diocese's list of accused 11/8/2018. A lawsuit in 7/2019 claimed the sexual abuse, along with Rev. Xavier Mankel, of a boy in the 1990s. It settled in 12/2019. On the Knoxville diocese's list 3/6/2020.

Parish priest, pastor, hospital chaplain. On leave as a missionary in Peru 1976-1979. Died in 2002. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 7/2026 of sexually abusing a boy multiple times 1991-1994, at St. Mary's in Taylorsville. The boy was an altar server and parish school student.

From Ireland, where he was ordained in 1931 for the Diocese of Los Angeles and San Diego. Parish priest, military chaplain. Died 10/31/1965. Personnel file released 10/22/2010 by the San Diego diocese as part of a settlement with survivors of childhood clergy sex abuse.

From Ireland. Accused sexually abusing three minors 1959-1961, per the 2004 Los Angeles Archdiocesan Report. Placed on leave and then retired in 2002 without faculties. Named in at least one civil suit. Personnel file released in 1/2013.

O'Connor's mental stability had been questioned when he was a seminarian. Removed from ministry in 5/2002 after the diocesan officials learned of allegations that he abused an adolescent boy 1967-1970. Allegations were substantiated and O'Connor "acknowledged that the incident had occurred." Other accusers also known. Former police chaplain. Included in 4/2006 on the diocese's list of credibly accused. Died in 2011. Revealed 5/16/2013 that even after privileges were removed, he was paid to say mass intentions (stipends). Diocese agreed to release of personnel files in 3/2013 as part of a settlement in Rudofski v Joliet & Bennett. Files released 4/30/2014. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes 6 "reported survivors."

Two brothers filed separate suits alleging abuse by O'Connor. One settled in 1989, the other in 1998 for $200K. Bishop Egan suspended O'Connor in 1/1989 and persuaded him to leave the priesthood. Egan personally took the  laicization petition to Rome. O'Connor was removed from ministry and laicized the same year. Egan reportedly paid O'Connor around $17K - $20K to cover personal debts and living expenses when he left the priesthood. A 2019 report commissioned by the diocese states that, during 1977-1985, Gavin abused five boys ages 13-19, four of them brothers. Name included on the Belleville diocese's list 9/20/2022. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

In 8/2002 O'Connor was quietly placed on leave by the San Francisco archdiocese after a recent allegation that he had had improper contact with a boy more than 30 years prior. O'Connor told parishioners at St. Mary's Cathedral that he was going on leave of absence for health and personal reasons. Absent on leave until his death 03/15/2013.

Parish priest, pastor; Catholic Newspaper editor. Died in 1961. Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its revised list 11/18/2015.

Removed in 9/2003 after the Diocese's review board found credible a recent claim that O'Connor had sexually abused a child in the late 1980s at St. Joseph's in Cuyahoga Falls (first assignment after ordination). He denied the allegation. Teaching at Borromeo Seminary in 2003. Cleared by the Vatican and returned to active status in 9/2007 with restrictions. "Resigned from priesthood" in 6/2008 after allegations of the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old boy in 1997. Indicted in 8/2009. Pleaded guilty in 9/2009. Sentenced to 90 days in jail in 12/2009. Sued by accuser in 7/2011. Laicized, per the Diocese's list in 6/2019.

Died 4/25/1987, age 56. Four brothers filed suit in 12/2003 alleging abuse by O'Connor and four other priests 1967-1983. One brother said he was abused by O'Connor and three of the other four priests. None of the brothers knew that the others were being abused. They complained to the diocese in 8/2002, but no action. Also named by one in a mid-2004 civil suit and another in a 12/2004 suit. One claim settled in 2008. Added 6/2/2021 to the Diocese's list, which notes one credible allegation of abuse, occurring 1970-1972. In 12/2022 the Diocese announced it had deemed credible a second allegation against O'Connor.

Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 1/22/2019. Died 12/1/2003. Allegations against him were received after his death.

A man filed suit in 1/2007 alleging he was abused by O'Connor and another priest, Anthony King, as a high school student in the mid-1960s. O'Connor was a teacher at St. Peter the Apostle Seminary in Cowiche. The alleged abuse by O'Connor occurred before the seminary was closed and students and priests were transferred to Seattle. Died in 1989. Case settled in 1/2010 for $150K. On the Diocese's list 7/9/2019.

From Ireland. Arrived in the U.S. in 1945 or 1946, assigned in 5/1946 to a parish in Chico. Dean 1968-1972; held diocesan offices 1972-1986; made monsignor in 1979.  Pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption in Carmichael 1972 until his death 7/14/1989. Accused in 2008 of sexually abusing a boy at Our Lady of the Assumption beginning in 1987 when the boy was age 8. The boy's parents said the Diocese admitted there were other victims. A lawsuit filed in the early 2020s claims abuse by O'Connor of an 8-year-old boy at Our Lady of the Assumption in the 1980s.

Ordained in 1936 for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Became a priest of the Diocese of Saginaw when it was established in 1938. Parish priest. Editor and publisher of the Catholic Weekly for over 30 years. Died 3/8/1989. Named publicly as credibly accused by the Saginaw diocese on its list 8/12/2019. Included in the MI Attorney General's 6/25/2026 Diocese of Saginaw Report, which shows that the Diocese received a report in 2002 that O'Connor sexually abused a girl multiple times over three to five years, beginning when she was age 15. The alleged victim said that O'Connor and her mother owned cottages near one another and would often play bridge together. She said O'Connor's behavior included trying to put his hand down the her bra, pinching her breast hard, and pulling out his genitals while wearing a bathing suit. Also, she told her mother, who didn't believe her.

One pending claim against O'Conner is shown in bankruptcy reorganization documents for the Fairbanks diocese 1/25/2010. Worked at Pilot Station 1931-1933 and Hooper Bay 1946-1953. Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018, which notes claims reported in 2009 of abuse 1951-1955. O'Connor died 3/8/1979.

Worked at schools in NJ, PA and NY. Two former students at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx came forward in 4/12 to allege that they were abused in the mid-1980s by O'Connor, then Dean of Discipline. He left the school in 1987 and, as of 2012, left the Irish Christian Brothers "within the past few years." The order filed bankruptcy in 4/11, which opened the doors for the allegations to be made. O'Connor was also a teacher and principal at Power Memorial Academy in New York. Included on the order's list of former and deceased brothers with at least two claims of sexual abuse against them, as required by its bankruptcy settlement in 2014. A lawsuit filed in 9/19 claims O'Connor sexually abused a boy, age 15, in 1986. The boy was a Cardinal Hayes High student. O'Connor reportedly is the subject of "dozens" of allegations and lawsuits. 

Monsignor. Accused by an 87-year-old man in a lawsuit filed in 1/2020 under the NY Child Victims Act. The man claims that O'Connor and Sisters Mary and Veronica sexually abused him in the early 1940s at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church and school in Silver Creek, when he was in third through eighth grades. The school was run by the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. O'Connor died 11/4/1959. Per his obituary, O'Connor was named pastor of the parish in 1912, and remained there for 47 years.

Named publicly as accused on the diocese's 9/20/2019 list of clerics with substantiated allegations against them of child sexual abuse. It notes "ministry ended" in 1993. Permanently removed from ministry.

Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits Midwest Province on its list 12/17/2018. Joined the order in 1946. One allegation of abuse reported after his death, occurring while assigned to Campion High School in Prairie du Chien 1968-1971. O'Connor died 5/29/1981. Added to the La Crosse diocese's list 2/5/2020.

Accused in a lawsuit filed 8/13/2020 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing an altar boy, beginning in 1996 when the boy was age 12. A resulting review board investigation yielded an allegation in 3/2000 that O'Connor had engaged in inappropriate communications with teenagers via the internet while assigned to St. Athanasius in Brooklyn. He was placed on leave 5/2000, underwent treatment, and returned to ministry in 8/2001. In 1/2022 he was removed from ministry and added to the Diocese of Brooklyn's list of credibly accused priests. At the time of his removal O'Connor was pastor of St. Gregory the Great in Bellerose.

Named publicly as credibly accused by the diocese on its list in 2022. O'Connor died in 2002.

In 1993 a man alleged that he had been molested by O'Dea in the 1960s in a school basement when he was age 12. The man said he was also abused by James Porter when the two priests were assigned to the same parish. The Diocesan Review Board unanimously found "insufficient evidence of improper activity." Bishop O'Malley allowed O'Dea to continue in active ministry until his death in 1/1999. Included in 1/2021 on the Diocese's list of accused.

Ordained in 1993 after retiring from a career in social work. Given senior (retired) priest status in 1997. Was associate pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows, Farmington. Removed without privileges in 10/2012 after two complaints received of abuse dating back to just prior to his ordination. Allegations deemed "substantive" by the archdiocese's review board. Sheriff's office notified. Died 10/14/2015, age 87. Included on the archdiocese's list of credibly accused 6/10/2020.

Accused in a civil lawsuit filed in 1996 of abuse of a youth at St. Viator High School 1980-1984 and for four years after the boy graduated. The suit was dismissed due to the statute of limitations. A second man came forward in 2002 alleging abuse as a minor in about 1974. The Order said in 2003 that it could not substantiate the allegations. Order settled with this man in 2005. O'Dell died 9/20/1988.

First indicted by Grand Jury in 1979 for sexual contact with three 14-year-old girls. Case dismissed after six months (when no further complaints received) and Diocese put him back to work. "Absent on sick leave" without privileges as of 1999. Beginning in 2000, four women filed separate suits alleging he abused them in 1980s and 1990s. All settled 1/03 for total of $180K. Living at Vianney Renewal Center in MO in 1/03, apparently subject to severe restrictions. Included on Ogdensburg diocese's list 11/13/18. Named in lawsuit(s) filed in 8/19 under the NY Child Victims Act. By 4/21 there were eight suits naming O'Doherty, one claiming abuse in 1966.

From Ireland. Ordained in 1916. Monsignor. Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish for 30 years. Died 11/7/1969 in Ireland. Accused in a lawsuit of sexually abusing a boy, age 10, in 1949, while assigned to Immaculate Heart of Mary. Settled in 4/2020 in the mid-five figures.

Accused 12/8/2005 of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in 1950 in Washington DC. The girl's mother allegedly discovered O'Donnell in the act of forcibly kissing her daughter as well as touching the girl's breasts and genitals beneath her clothes. O'Donnell was was diocesan secretary or chancellor at the time. The kissing was allegedly repeated by then-Msgr. O'Donnell when the girl was age 18, and he is accused of verbally abusing her at age 27 in a sexual manner. He was then Steubenville's vicar general. He died in 1982.

First named publicly as accused in 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. Living in the Fort Myers area of FL in 8/2018. Complaints in 1988 from parents about O'Donnell's behavior with their sons, about age 12. Said to make the boys shower after basketball games, then weigh the boys while they were naked. Had been ordered by Diocese in 6/1987 to stay out of the boys' locker rooms. Appointed by Bishop Wuerl in 6/2000 to the Marriage Tribunal, and relieved of his parish assignment. Complaints from parents about O'Donnell continued through mid-3/2002. Assigned by Wuerl in 11/2005 to a parish; its school principal soon reported complaints from families about O'Donnell; one man said he reported concerns in 1981 but nothing done. Alleged in a 1/1/2019 lawsuit to have taken a 13-year-old boy in 1976 to the Super Bowl in Miami, where he sexually abused the boy repeatedly. His accuser said the abuse started when he was age 12 and included anal and oral intercourse. Included on the diocese's list of accused in 2019, showing faculties were restricted. Per the list in 10/2022 he was removed from ministry. 

Removed in 1985. Abused at least 65 boys in the 1970s-1980s in Spokane and Seattle. Worked as a psychologist for teens in Bellevue after leaving the active priesthood. Sanctioned in 1984 for abuse while a priest. Sanctions lifted in 1986. License permanently removed in 1/2004. At least two victims died by suicide. Named in new suit filed in 2/2008 by four plaintiffs. Admitted guilt and settled in 11/2008 for $5M but unable to pay. Two plaintiffs settled before a 5/2009 trial; last two plaintiffs settled during trial. Settlements in 5/2012. Name included on the archdiocese's list of credibly accused 1/15/2016. Laicized. Living in 2019 in Mt. Vernon, WA.

Accused in a 3/13/2013 civil suit of "multiple instances of unpermitted, harmful and offensive sexual conduct'" with a teenage boy in about 1974, while co-pastor of the Cathedral of St. Helena, where he was named coordinator in 1977. Chancellor of Helena diocese 1981-1985. Placed on leave 1985. Moved to Hawaii 6/1986, working in a Honolulu parish and at St. Anthony's in Kailua. Incardinated into the Honolulu diocese in 1989. Assigned to Holy Trinity in Honolulu in 1989 where he became pastor in 1992. Died 7/29/1995. Buried with credibly accused priest Msgr. William D. Spain in Kaneohe HI.

Ordained for the Maryknoll order. Worked in Guatemala for four years. Air Force chaplain. Left the Maryknolls and became a priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, where he worked in parishes and as a Metropolitan Tribunal judge. Retired in 2009. Accused in 2016 of raping two adolescent boys over a two-year period. (Time-period unclear.) The Archdiocesan Review Board deemed the allegations credible and the victims received settlements of $125K and $100K. Archbishop Aymond, however, said the allegations had "no semblance of truth" and did not add him to the Archdiocese's list of credibly accused. In 2018 another allegation was received, that O'Donnell spanked teenagers.

From Ireland. A 7/2009 civil suit claimed abuse of a 7-year-old girl and her 8-year-old brother by a John O'Donoghue at St. Catharine's in Spring Lake during 1972-1974. Per the Diocese, Rev. Charles O'Donoghue was assigned there 1969-1974; there were no records of "John." The Diocese had been informed of abuse by Charles O'Donoghue in 2002. Another letter received 7/10/2009 named John. A member of an Irish religious order, Charles O'Donoghue returned to Ireland in 1975 and is believed to have died in 1986.

Retired in 1993. Placed on leave in 1994 after a man filed a lawsuit alleging that O'Donoghue sexually assaulted him at age 13 in 1978. The suit referenced two previous allegations. It settled in 1999 for $300K. O'Donoghue was transferred 12 times in his first 15 years as a priest and spent some time in treatment at the House of Affirmation in Whitinsville, MA. A civil suit was filed in 1999 by a second plaintiff who alleged abuse in 1962; it settled in 2001. Additional lawsuits were filed in 2002 and 2004. O'Donoghue died 08/26/2014.

From Ireland, where he was ordained in 1938 for the San Diego diocese. Personnel file released 10/22/2010 as part of a settlement with survivors of childhood clergy sex abuse. Parish priest, Army chaplain. Left the diocese 4/10/1961, faculties revoked. A 4/7/1961 letter from the bishop to O'Donohue states "Serious complaints, indi[c]ting your conduct, have come from Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Twentynine Palms, San Diego and Chicago," and mentions "grave scandal." The bishop, however, tried to convince O'Donohue not to resign. Assigned to parish work in Tucson, AZ. Died 8/9/1967.

Ordained in Ireland for the Diocese of Grand Island, NE. Later transferred to the Diocese of Orlando, FL. Investigated in 1977 for fondling two 12-year-old girls; no charges filed after he apologized and said he meant no harm. Arrested in 1983 for fondling another girl, age 12. Those charges dropped after he agreed to psychiatric treatment. Reportedly had an affair with the girl's mother. A civil suit settled in 1986 for $250K and files sealed. Still an active priest until he "retired" without privileges in 1995 after news of the 1983 incident became public. Died 11/29/2009 in Dublin, Ireland. Included on the Orlando diocese's 10/6/2021 list of credibly accused.

From Ireland, where he was ordained for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Monsignor. Accused of abuse of a minor in 1959, per the 2004 Archdiocesan report. Died in 1971. One civil suit filed.

From Cuba. Sought political asylum in the US in 1959. Retired in 1983. A 4/2011 civil suit alleged that in 1988 O'Farrill sexually molested a 16-year-old boy from Nicaragua who sought counseling from him at St. Michael the Archangel in west Little Havana. O'Farrill allegedly gave the boy alcohol in orange juice and performed oral sex on him. O'Farrill died in 1994. Just before his death he was arrested and charged with giving an alibi to a robber in exchange for sex.

Monsignor. Named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese on its list 7/26/2019. Died in 1981. Substantiated allegations, received after his death. Included on the Springfield-Cape Girardeau diocese's list 4/13/2021.

Per the PA Attorney General's 3/1/2016 Grand Jury Report, O'Friel is known to have sexually abused two male students at Bishop Carroll High School while he was principal in the 1970s. With each boy, O'Friel asked details about their intimacy with their girlfriends, then would touch the victims' genitals and expose himself. O'Friel died 12/15/1981. The first victim reported the abuse to the Diocese in 2004. The Grand Jury said the second victim "struggled greatly" with the abuse and later sought counseling as a student at State College; his counselor was accused priest Rev. Robert Kelly, who pushed the boy's head into his lap. The victim was subsequently hospitalized. The Grand Jury called O'Friel a "child predator."

Accused of abuse of a minor and placed on leave in 8/1992. Police investigated; no charges filed. "Officially resigned" from priesthood in 1994. In 2004 it was learned that O'Gorman was working as a speechwriter for the husband of Anne Burke, head of the U.S. Catholic Bishops' oversight board on sex abuse.

From Ireland. Worked many years in CA. Convicted in 1993 in CA. Received a 14-year sentence, served 7; deported to Ireland in 2000. Settlement of $7M, among others. Admitted to the sexual abuse of 25 boys and girls. Laicized. Fled Ireland 10/2006; Suit filed in 12/2006. His Irish Archdiocese settled in 12/2006 for $3M. New suit filed in 12/2007 by a woman. Worked in the Netherlands; reportedly in 4/2010, returned to Ireland. Diocese paid $2M 6/2010 to 2 victims. New suit in 10/2010. Arrested for child pornography in Ireland in 12/2010. Sentenced to 3 years in jail in 1/2012. New suit filed in 5/2012. Four suits were dismissed due to the statute of limitations in 6/2012. Released from jail in Ireland in 4/2014, living unsupervised. Name included on list of claimed abusers attached to the Stockton Diocese's 5/9/2014 filing in bankruptcy court. Wanted by Irish authorities for child pornography; arrested in Portugal in 10/2019. Convicted. Sentenced to 22 months in jail. Released in 3/2021.

From Ireland, where he was ordained in 1933. Reportedly was in WY when he first arrived in the U.S. Later joined the Jesuits' OR Province, making his final vows in 1950. Worked in parishes and schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle and Diocese Spokane WA, Great Falls and Helena MT, Boise City ID and Portland OR. A woman filed suit in 1/2004 alleging sexual abuse by O'Grady at Jesuit House in Spokane when she was 12. O'Grady was providing supply work to parishes in Spokane at that time. He died 06/16/1993. The suit names the Jesuits' Portland Province and Bishop Syklstad. Settled in 12/2004. The Diocese said allegations were proven or credible. Included on the Boise diocese's list in 10/2019. It notes incidents in 1984 and 1985 while assigned to Sacred Heart in Boise, reported in 2003. Per the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018, there were claims in 2003 and 2009 against O'Grady of abuse in 1981.

From Ireland. Investigated by police in 1997 after allegation that he abused an altar girl years before. Per his obituary, O'Grady "returned home" to Ireland in 2001. Died 3/17/2013.

From Ireland. Taught math at Newbridge College in Co Kildare, then at Holy Cross College in Trinidad. Worked in the Diocese of Sacramento 1978-1996. Returned in 2014 his order in Cork. Died in Ireland 12/12/2018. Named publicly as accused in 5/2019 on the Sacramento Diocese's list of those with credible allegations against them. The abuse is noted to have occurred elsewhere. Included in 10/2021 on the Dominicans Holy Name Province list. Noted to have been removed from public ministry in 2004.

From Ireland. From the Diocese of Springfield, IL; worked as an extern priest in the Diocese of Jackson. Named publicly as accused by the Diocese of Jackson on its list 3/19/2019. Died in 1969. Allegations were reported 1993 and 2002 of abuse 1966-1967 in Biloxi.

Monsignor. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 2/2022 of sexually abusing a boy, beginning when the boy was age 6 or 7, between 1966 and 1968. O'Hanlon was assigned to St. Theresa's in Shreveport during the time of the alleged abuse. He died in 2001.

Two women filed suit in 9/2008 accusing O'Hara of sexually abusing them as girls between 1971 and 1978 while he was assigned to St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Rosewood Heights. He died in 4/2006 at age 90. Included on the diocese's 1/29/2018 list of those with substantiated allegations. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes 5 "reported survivors."

Named publicly as accused by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart USA Province on its list of credibly accused in 2020. It notes allegation(s) reported in 2005. It does not reveal when or where the abuse took place. O'Hara died in 5/17/2008. Per his obituary, he entered Sacred Heart Mission Seminary in 1957 and professed final vows in 1969. He taught in Geneva and St. Charles IL early on, then spent many years in Papua New Gunea, Diocese of Kavieng. He returned to the U.S. in 2004 "due to poor health" and soon "took up residence" at the Paraclete's Vianney Renewal Center in MO.

Accused in early 2019 of sexually abusing a minor in the 1990s. The archdiocese reportedly learned of the allegation from the Orange County NY D.A. O'Hare denied the allegation. Placed on leave pending investigation.

Laicized in 1993. Accused in 2/26/04 suit of sexually abusing a boy in 1980 at Cardinal Hayes H.S. in the Bronx. O'Herlihy had learned that the boy was being abused by a Catholic counselor, and allegedly used the knowledge to gain access. Suit claims that other boys were abused by O'Herlihy at the school. Dismissed on SOL 2006. In 3/09 he was found working as assistant principal at Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day H.S. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. Died in 2013.

Monsignor. Pastor of Pearl River NY parish. Educator most of career in Bronx and White Plains. Suspended 12/15 after allegation of sex abuse of a boy in early 1980s. O'Keefe was a teacher and guidance counselor at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx at the time, and his accuser was a student. Abuse alleged to have occurred twice - once in NY and once in VA. O'Keefe denied allegations. Investigations by DAs in NY and VA led to removal. Two more male accusers, allegations found credible. No charges due to SOL. Investigation by church initiated. Permanent removal by the archdiocese announced 9/16 by plaintiff's attorney. Settlements with alleged victims 5/17 and 10/17 as part of archdiocese's compensation program. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. Laicized.

Monsignor. From Ireland. Allegation in 1989. Left active priesthood in 1994. 'Retired' in 1999. Accused in lawsuits in 2003 of sexually abusing several girls, some naming both the Dioceses of San Diego and San Bernardino. Criminally charged in 2002 with abuse of a 17-year-old girl. Fled to Ireland. Charges dropped due to a Supreme Court ruling regarding the statute of limitations. The San Diego diocese filed bankruptcy a day before trial. O'Keeffe's name was included on a list of credibly accused priests released by San Diego in 3/2007. Laicized. Claims against O'Keeffe were included in a 9/2007 settlement of $198.1M. Personnel file released in 10/2010.

Professed religious vows as a Dominican in 1955 and ordained in 1985. Accused by two people of abuse when they were boys in Southern CA 1974-1977. Order acknowledged the accusations. Also worked in the Oakland diocese. Included on the Santa Rosa diocese's list 1/12/2019. Chaplain 1993-2002 at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Permanently removed from ministry 3/30/2002. Included on the Dominicans Holy Name Province list in 10/2021. Noted to have died in 2021.

Joined the Jesuits in 1977. Ordained in 1990. Pleaded guilty in 1999 to sending a lewd photo of himself to a 14-year-old girl over the Internet. Her mother reported the photo to police; O'Liddy was arrested at a meeting site. Sentenced in 8/2000 to 10 years probation and 200 hours of community service. On leave from the Jesuits at the time of the offense. After the court sentence he resigned from the Order. On the Colorado Sex Offender Registry. Included on the Jesuits Central and Southern Province list 12/7/2018.

From Ireland, where he was ordained. Accused of the sexual abuse of a minor 1965-1968, per the 2004 Los Angeles Archdiocesan Report. Active in Myanmar and the Philippines in 2004. Kept in ministry until his removal in 2011 from  Holy Name of Mary in San Dimas, where he had been assigned for two years. The Archdiocese admitted it "did not fully consult records" that showed he had admitted to a sexual 'relationship' with a high school girl in the 1960s. The vicar of clergy in charge of checking records resigned. His victim settled the civil suit with the order and O'Loghlen in 1999 for $100K. Said in 10/2024 by a parishioner to have been actively involved for the past decade at Holy Name of Mary; pictured there in a 1/2020 photo on the parish's facebook page.

Br. Remigius aka Francis O'Lone. Joined the Xaverians in 1941. Worked in MA, NY, KY, ME, and MD. Died in 1983 at Nazareth Home in Louisville, KY. Named publicly as accused by the Order on its list 7/12/2019. Allegation received in 2008 of abuse at a summer camp in NJ in the late 1940s-early 1950s. Assigned 1949-1950 to St. Michael DHS in Brooklyn, NY. Accused in a claim settled in 2020 in the mid-five figures of sexually abusing a boy, age 14, in 1952 at Camp St. Joseph's Villa in Hackettstown, NJ.

Named publicly as accused by the Galveston-Houston archdiocese on its list 1/31/19. Died in 1998. Per his obituary, O'Loughlin worked with Spanish-speaking families in Houston, Detroit, Mexico and Colombia, and was "a giant to kids."

Worked at McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester 1966-1986, and Fordham Prep in the Bronx 1986-2012.  Appeared in the 1973 film, "The Exorcist." Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/2019 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually assaulting a McQuaid student multiple times in 1985-1986. In 2019 he was living at Fordham University's Murray-Weigel Hall. Two other former students accused O'Malley in subsequent lawsuits. One was filed in 7/2020, claiming abuse in 1975 or 1976. Per the Fordham University newspaper in 12/2020, O'Malley was removed from Murray-Weigel after he was accused. He died 7/15/2023 in Massachusetts, age 91.

One person settled claims against O'Malley as part of a $7.5M settlement in 8/2004 between 45 claimants and the Diocese of Springfield, involving 18 priests. This was the first time O'Malley had been publicly identified. Died in 1985 at age 84.

Parish priest, helped establish covenant community Lamb of God in the 1970s, which has been characterized as a cult. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report, name redacted. Referred to as #155. Allegedly would kiss girls and mothers on their mouths, among other behaviors. One woman said that when she was age 7, O'Meara would try to slide his hand up her leg toward her genitals under the table while having dinner with her family. Further, she said two of her friends said he did the same thing to them. Removed from active ministry in 12/2019 after three woman reported that he touched them inappropriately. O'Meara was retired at the time and living at St. Agnes/St. William of York Parish. Sent to St. John Vianney Center in PA for treatment; left against advice. Included on the Archdiocese of Baltimore's list of accused 12/27/2024, which notes that he died in 2023.

Accused in a 2004 lawsuit of abusing a 14-year-old boy who was living at the Stetson Home for Boys in Barre in 1975. O'Neil was assigned to St. Joseph Church at the time. He was retired when the suit was filed. Died in 2/2005. Civil suit was set for trial in 11/2006.

Removed from ministry in 2003. Accused in a 2004 DE lawsuit of abuse of a youth 1976-1985. Moved to Philadelphia in 1985 after complaint. Working in Charlotte, NC when the suit was filed. In 12/2006, a court ruled that the suit could go forward but not on the original claim from 1985. O'Neill did not appear for a deposition because he was working in South Africa. He admitted the abuse. The Order settled in 3/2008. The Diocese settled in 5/2008. O'Neill's name was released as part of the Order's 8/2011 $24.8M settlement with 40 individuals. Was living in a monitored setting. Included on the Charlotte diocese's list 12/29/2019.

Parish priest, counseler to boy scout troops. Complaints received in 1970s. Sent to treatment. Parents of boys complained about behavior and drinking for several years. Removed in 1973 from parish, appointed to Marriage Tribunal. Reassigned in 1980 to a parish. "Retired" due to health in 2001, continued working at tribunal. Privileges removed 5/02. Sued in 2002 by 10 men. Allegedly abused young teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including on trips to his Jefferson County cottage. Suit dismissed due to SOL in 2003 and 2004. Died 12/05. Canonical proceedings not complete at time of death, per 6/7/12 statement from Diocese. Accused in lawsuit filed under NY Child Victims Act in 9/19 of abuse of a boy, age 16, in 1994. By 8/20 24 lawsuits by 24 alleged O'Neill victims.

Accused 4/25/02 of sexually abusing a boy 1963-67 in the early 1960s, while assigned to Judge Memorial School in Salt Lake City. O'Neill was at the school 1957-70, principal 1962-70. Principal of St. Mary's HS in Stockton CA diocese 1970-78. Removed 5/02 from St. Francis de Sales HS in Toledo OH diocese where he moved in 1978. Taught at Father Judge HS in Philadelphia PA in late 1950s. Named in 2003 suit as having knowledge of abuse by James Rapp. Suit dismissed on SOL 8/03. Died 09/21/15. On Diocese of Salt Lake City's list 12/4/18. Added to Stockton's list 11/12/20.

Accused on 5/17/2002 of sexually abusing and exploiting a 12-year-old boy in 1957 during confession at the rectory of Immaculate Conception in Everett. (The Archdiocese first mistakenly identified the priest as James W. O'Neil SJ.)  Died 12/4/1960. Name included on the Boston archdiocese's 8/2011  list of accused priests. Criminal or canonical proceedings not complete at the time of Murphy's death.

Named publicly as credibly accused by the Diocese on its list 7/1/2019. Suspended 7/10/1971, laicized in 1972. Allegations were received after O'Neill's death. Included in the 3/4/2026 RI Attorney General's Report. In 1994 the Diocese received a report that O'Neill sexually abused a 10-year-old boy in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1995 a man told Bishop Gelineau that O'Neill sexually abused his then 12-year-old sister in the late 1960s during a camping trip in ME. O'Neill was working at the time of the reports as a lay music director for St. Jude's in Lincoln. He denied abusing the boy, but admitted to abusing the girl. He was allowed to continue in his role at St. Jude's, with "a no closed door policy" while working with children. In 1996 it came to light that O'Neill had told St. Jude's pastor of an incident involving his slapping the buttocks of two girls at an agency in Cranston. A new St. Jude's pastor in 1997 told the Diocese that he had recently found O'Neill alone with a girl in the church with his "hands on her face." He died 5/3/2000.

From Ireland. Sued in 10/2002 by a woman who alleged he abused her for approximately three years when she attended St. Charles Borromeo School and Church in Tacoma in the early 1960s. She dropped the suit in 2003 after the Seattle archdiocese countersued her. O'Neill retired in 1999. May have moved to AZ. He denied the allegations. The Archdiocese's Review Board was still reviewing the case in 9/2003. O'Neill died in Ireland in 8/2011.

Named publicly as accused on the diocese's list 8/19/18. Died in 1978.

From Ireland, where he was ordained for the Divine Word Missionaries in 1971. Worked as a missionary in Papaua New Guinea until 1975, when he was assigned to a parish in Colonia, NJ. Incardinated in 1981 into the Diocese of Trenton. Monsignor. Retired in 2018. Named publicly in 11/2021 by Attorney Jeff Anderson as accused in a lawsuit filed under the NJ Victims' Rights Bill. Pastor Emeritus in 11/2021 of St. John Vianney Parish in Colonia NJ. Died 1/6/2026.

In a civil suit filed in 6/2013, a woman who graduated in 2009 from St. Francis Prep in Queens alleged she was sexually harassed by O'Reilly, a Spanish teacher at the school. She complained to the school; the principal admitted that O'Reilly had a history of harassing girls. O'Reilly was sent for a psychological evaluation which deemed him unfit to work with children. He was removed from the classroom but allowed to continue living on campus.

As part of Section 13.1, Non-Monetary Commitments, of the Society of Jesus, Oregon Province, Reorganization Plan (dated 7/18/2011) the Order agreed to post on its website the names of all members of the Province identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse in proofs of claims filed in the Bankruptcy case, and who have not denied the allegation. O'Reilly's name is included on this list. Died 5/26/1958. Included on the Great Falls-Billings diocese's list 8/21/2018. On the Jesuits West list 12/7/2018. It notes abuse 1945,1947, 1949, reported in 2009.

O'Reilly's name is included in 10/2021 on the Franciscans' Holy Name Province list of those with substantiated allegations against them of child sexual abuse. No details provided as to when or where the abuse occurred. He died in 1995. (Placing him for now in the New York archdiocese, where the Province is based.)

Accused of abuse of a minor in 1968 at Loyola High School, per the 2005 Los Angeles Archdiocesan Report addendum. Worked in San Francisco and Los Angeles CA, as well as in Phoenix AZ, where he was assigned to Brophy Prep from 1975 until his death 1/1/1993. Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018, which notes an allegation of the sexual abuse of a minor in 1969, reported in 2003. Included in 10/2019 on the Phoenix diocese's list of accused.

Named in a 10/2002 lawsuit with 11 other priests and a religious brother, in which 43 men and women claimed abuse. Per the suit, O'Rourke repeatedly sexually abused an altar boy at Corpus Christi Parish in Woodside, NY where he was assigned in the 1960s. Also named in a 10/2003 suit in which 27 plaintiffs alleged abuse by 24 priests. One said O'Rourke abused him at age 14 in 1974 on a trip to the Naval Academy. Settled. Another later claimed abuse in the 1960s. O'Rourke died 6/11/1998. Included on the Diocese's list in 2/2019. Accused in a suit filed in 9/2019 under the NY Child Victims Act.

Removed in 2004 after credible allegations of sex abuse while assigned to Loyola Academy in Wilmette; worked there almost continually 1958-1992. The Jesuits' Chicago-Detroit (Midwest) Province settled in 2013 for $750K with a man alleging O'Shaughnessy abused him 1977-1979 at the school. O'Shaughnessy was the boy's advisor and reportedly pulled him out of class daily. Died 7/8/2013, age 89. Settlement announced in 2015 for $950K with another former Loyola student. Also worked in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Milford OH, Indianapolis IN, Oakland CA, and Clarkston MI. Settlement with another former Loyola Academy student for $925K announced 5/2017. On Indianapolis archdiocese's list 10/12/2018. On Jesuits Midwest Province list 12/17/2018. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

 Monsignor. Criminally charged in 1994 for abuse of at least nine boys in the 1960-1980. Charges dismissed. Two civil suits were filed in 1994 by four. The Archdiocese settled with two plaintiffs in 8/1995 for $500K and in 6/1996. The Archdiocese paid out $2.5M to 15 men abused as minors by O'Shea and two other priests. Arrested in 2002 on charges that he abused a boy, beginning at age 11  in 1968, when the boy was a Mission Dolores altar server and school student. Charges added in 2003 that he abused two boys, ages 11-13, at Lake Berryessa in the 1970s. Spent two years in jail waiting for trial; charges withdrawn after 2003 Supreme Court ruling regarding the statute of limitations. Convicted in 2004 of theft of over $200K from the Archdiocese. Laicized in 2005. On the Stockton diocese's list 11/12/2020, where worked 1/31/1970-9/17/1971.

Complaint to Cardinal Cushing in 1964 that O'Sullivan abused an altar boy. Multiple allegations at first parish; transferred to three other parishes, each time because of multiple complaints. Pleaded guilty in 1984 to raping an altar boy. Given five years' probation on condition that he be kept away from children. Instead, O'Sullivan was sent by Cardinal Law to Metuchen NJ, where he worked in four more parishes. Recalled to Boston in 1992; retired, given senior priest status. Involuntary laicization announced in 2005. Name included on the Boston archdiocese's list in 8/2011. Died in 2019.

Ordained in 1947 for the Diocese of Leavenworth, which the same year became the Diocese of Kansas City KS. Incardinated into the Diocese of El Paso in 1957. Retired in 1968, died in 1973 at age 53. O'Sullivan was pastor of St. Matthew's parish on the west side of El Paso in the 1950s-1960s, under Bishop Metzer. At least two boys accused him of abuse. He was transferred by Metzer to the Diocese of Ft. Worth. Included on the Las Cruces diocese's list of credibly accused 11/8/2018, which  notes a report in 1993 of an incident in the 1950s. (Las Cruces was established from El Paso in 1982) On El Paso's list 1/31/2019.

From Ireland, where he was ordained for the Archdiocese of San Antonio. On 1/29/2012 the archdiocese posted a Public Notice on its website stating that it had recently received an allegation that O'Sullivan abused a child in the 1960s. Per the archdiocese on its list 1/2019, there were ten known allegations, of abuse beginning in 1962. Removed in 1964 and sent for treatment in GA. Not allowed to return to the San Antonio archdiocese. Accepted by the Savannah diocese in 1965. Removed in 1971 for abuse of a child. Returned to Ireland, more allegations there. Case sent by the San Antonio archdiocese in 2006 to the Vatican for possible laicization. Died in 2013. His obituary refers to him as "Fr. Mikey Joe O'Sullivan." On the Savannah diocese's list 11/8/2018. Included in the 3/24/2023 GA PAC Report.

Included on Attorney Garabedian's list 3/28/2016 of accused clerics named in civil claims resulting in settlements or arbitration awards. Allegedly abused a minor 1972-1973 at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell NJ. Another man claimed publicly in 10/2016 that O'Sullivan abused him at the school when he was age 14 in the early 1970s. Settlement of $1.9M in 8/2016 of a suit with 21 men alleging they were sexually abused by  Bergen High staff when they were young. Seven more former students subsequently came forward as of 7/2017, several several with allegations against O'Sullivan.

From Ireland, where he was ordained in 1942. Arrived in the U.S. later that year. Spent his entire priesthood in the Diocese of Boise, assigned to parishes in Salmon, St. Anthony, Preston, Ferdinand, Moscow, and Kellogg. Retired in 1982, returned to Ireland in 1985. Died 4/7/1993. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 3/2021 of raping a 9-year-old boy in 1968, while assigned to St. Mary's in Moscow. The family were St. Mary's parishioners and the boy attended the parish school. The rape allegedly occurred when O'Sullivan was babysitting the boy. The priest was a friend of the boy's parents and frequent visitor to their home. Arguments in the case were heard by the state Supreme Court in 4/2026 after the district court granted summary judgment in favor of the Diocese and St. Mary's.

Assigned 1962-1983 in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Accused in 3/1992 of sexually abusing a girl, age 12 or 13, in the early 1970s at Our Lady of Fatima in East Baltimore. The Archdiocese informed the Redemptorists in 10/1993. O'Toole's name was included on the  Baltimore Archdiocese's 9/2002 list of accused religious priests and brothers. Shown in the Venice diocese per the 1988 Catholic Directory, in Miami per the 1990 edition, and in Orlando per the 1995 and 2002 editions. Died in 2003. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report, which shows O'Toole also spent time in Toledo OH and Richmond VA.

"Br. Alois." Joined the Xaverians in 1935. Worked at high schools in Louisville KY, Bronx NY, White Plains NY, Baltimore MD, East Africa, and Shrewsbury MA. Named publicly as accused by the Order on its list 7/12/2019.  O'Toole was removed from ministry in 1989 after allegations of sexual abuse in MA during the late 1950s-early 1980s (unrelated to Xaverian school students). He died in Florida in 2006, at age 90. Included on the Baltimore archdiocese's list 7/23/2019. Mentioned in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report.

From Ireland. Ordained in Ireland for the Diocese of Brooklyn. Elevated to Monsignor in 1986. Retired to FL. Died 3/8/2017. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 9/2019 under the NY Child Victims Act of abusing an altar boy, ages 9-18, in the 1980s, at St. Ann's in Brooklyn.

Religious brother prior to his ordination to the priesthood in 1985. Parish priest, high school teacher; reportedly certified in criminology, clinical counseling, drug abuse and alcoholism. Known to have been assigned in New Orleans LA, Port Arthur TX, Beaumont TX, Birmingham AL. Became involved in New Orleans with a family of 12 children whose single mother struggled with schizophrenia. Accused in a lawsuit of sexually abusing two of the boys, beginning when one was a young teenager and the other age 11, in 1979. Oberg's accusers also alleged sexual abuse by Fr. Patrick McCarthy, who was later murdered by the older brother, in 1987. Both brothers were convicted of murder and are serving life sentences. In 2025 Oberg is living in Washington D.C. where he is rector of a community of elderly Josephites.

Sued in 2005. One of several religious accused of abuse at Madonna Manor, a Catholic home for troubled children. At least one claim was included in an almost $5.2M settlement with the Archdiocese in Fall 2009. In references to the settlement, she is referred to as Mother Superior Mary Omer. She died in 1992.

Accused of sexual abuse of at least one minor. Included on the Helena diocese's list posted to its website 4/29/2015 in compliance with the non-monetary terms of the 3/5/2015 bankruptcy settlement. Retired to Spokane's Jesuit community at Gonzaga University in 1999, moved in 2015 to Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, CA. Died 3/1/2018. Included on the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018.

Monsignor. Named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese on its list 7/26/2019. Allegations substantiated. Removed from ministry. Died in 2000.

Full name Francisco Xavier Ochoa Perez. Ordained in Mexico for the Jesuits; began working in the Santa Rosa diocese in 1988, incardinated there 7/11/1991. Admitted in 4/2006 to a recent incident of sexual misconduct involving a boy; placed on leave in 5/2006. Admitted past history to bishop. Raped a 14-year-old boy when living in Carichi, Chihuahua, Mexico. Fled to Mexico before bishop reported to police. Others came forward to allege rape and molestation as children by Ochoa. Victims were former altar boys and girls. Two civil suits filed in 10/2006. Diocese and bishop settled with 10 plaintiffs in 9/2007 for a little over $5M. Federal arrest warrant issued 7/27/2008. Charged with 10 counts of forced sodomy and forced oral copulation. Never returned to the U.S. to face charges. Laicized 6/29/2009. Found dead in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico 11/30/2009. On diocese's list 1/12/2019. Suit filed in 12/2019 under the CA Child Victims Act. Lawsuit(s) in 2022 allege abuse at the Hanna Boys Center.

Named publicly as accused on the diocese's list 1/17/19. Noted to have a single substantiated allegation against him of abuse, occurring in 1958. Left the priesthood in 1970, laicized 1971. Died in 1984.

Visiting priest from the Diocese of Keta-Akatsi in Ghana. Arrested and charged in 10/2005 after an allegation that he molested a 16-year-old girl in the rectory of St. Ephrem's in Dyker Heights. Ocloo was living and working at the church while pursuing an MBA. He was immediately placed on leave by the Diocese and removed from the rectory.

Priest of the Diocese of Uyo, Nigeria. Arrested 7/16/2024 in Ave Maria, FL, where he was living. Charged with possession of child abuse images, of little girls. Odiong was being investigated by law enforcement in Waco, TX after a woman reported in 3/2024 that he sexually assaulted her in 2012. A civil lawsuit was filed against the Diocese of Austin and Odiong. Odiong is the subject of complaints from multiple women, two from his time as director of campus ministry at St. Peter Catholic Student Center at Baylor University in Waco, where he was assigned 2007-2015. He was also assigned 2007-2012 to St. Mary of the Assumption in West TX. Barred from ministry in 2019 by the Diocese of Austin. The Archdiocese of New Orleans was informed; Odiong continued ministry there, at a Luling LA parish, until his dismissal in 12/2023. The bishop from his home diocese in Nigeria ordered his return; Odiong did not comply. He denied all allegations. On 7/18/2024 Odiong was charged by Waco police with two counts of sexual assault. Eight women had come forward with allegations against him. Indicted on those charges in 9/2024. Child pornography charges were pending. Four more charges were filed 9/26/2024 for a total of 7, with 10 alleged victims identified. In 11/2024 it was reported that Odiong had allegedly fathered at least two children with his victims; DNA evidence showed that one of the children was born within the year. Two additional alleged victims were identified on 11/26/2024. In 4/2026 the TX District Attorney's office prosecuting Odiong sought to consolidate three cases of abuse of vulnerable women into one trial, set for 5/4/2026. The request was granted and the trial postponed. Odiong was convicted 5/29/20206. He was sentenced on 6/2/2026 to life in prison and two 20-year-prison terms, to be served concurrently, and a $30,000 fine. 

Ordained for the Diocese of Owensboro KY. Worked in the Oakland diocese 12/1997 until 4/1999, when he was arrested for sending sexually explicit messages and pornography to a 14-year-old boy in an internet chatroom. Pleaded guilty in 7/1999 to two counts of oral copulation and one charge of attempting to send harmful material to a minor. Sentenced to two years in prison. Included on the Oakland Diocese's list of credibly accused 2/17/2019. On the Owensboro Diocese's list 4/12/2019.

Named publicly as accused by the Diocese on its list in 5/2022. Died in 2012.

Per the Diocese of Brooklyn on 2/22/2019, Offenheiser had been accused, but he was not included on its list because the Diocese found the allegations to be unsubstantiated. Offenheiser's accuser was, however, included in the IRCP (Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program). Offen heiser died in 1988.

Named publicly as accused by the Archdiocese on its list in 3/2024. Offutt died in 2/1999.

Extern priest from the Diocese of Nnewi, Nigeria. Charged in 9/11/2018 with the sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl in 2007. A report was made to archdiocese 8/31/2018. Ohazulume was living with the girl's family, who were relatives, in Randolph MA when he arrived in the United States to study at Boston College in 2006. In 2018, he had been working since 2010 as a chaplain at B.I. Deaconess Medical Center while residing at Assumption parish in Brookline. Pleaded not guilty.

Taught at Our Lady of the Lake Seminary in Wawasee IN for 16 years, and at Crosier Seminary in Onamia, MN for three years. Moved to Phoenix in 1987. Helped out at area churches after retirement in 1992. One of 8 Crosier priests removed from public ministry in 2002 due to abuse allegations. Alleged incident at least 15 years prior. Member of Crosier Community of Phoenix until his death 7/29/2005. Included in 3/2014 on the Crosiers' list of accused. Included in 10/2019 on the Phoenix diocese's list.

Born in the U.S., raised in Mexico. Attended seminary in Oregon 1998-2007. Arrested 11/30/2011 on two counts of felony lewd and lascivious acts with teen girl 2007-2009. Family told the Diocese 11/29/2011. Police and Child Protective Services notified. Assigned to Our Lady of Mercy in Redding at the time of his arrest. Released on bail 01/19/2012. Pleaded not guilty 4/13/2012. On 7/5/2013 pleaded no contest to one count of molesting the 13-year-old girl in her bedroom. Sentenced to eight years in prison 8/2/2013. Per the Diocese in 8/2017, Ojeda was removed from the priesthood in 2016. Released from prison in 2019. On the Diocese's list 4/30/2019. Accused in 2020 of the "sexual touching" of a girl under the age of 18.

Accused in 2002 of molesting two teenage brothers 1974-1977, while to St. Therese of the Infant Jesus/Little Flower and St. Simon's. Okon joined the Air Force as a chaplain in 1977. He was placed on leave after one of the brothers came forward in 2002. Okon had been working in maintenance at Cathedral High School since 1989. Reportedly, relatives of the brothers complained to Church officials in the 1970s and 1980s but nothing was done. Okon denied the allegations. He resigned from ministry in 2003 as part of a settlement. His name was included on the Archdiocese's list of credibly accused 10/12/2018. Noted to have four victims, allegedly sexually abused in 1974. He died 11/29/2012.

From Yugoslavia. Worked in Italy until 1949, when he emigrated to Montana. Became a U.S. citizen in 1964. Assigned in Helena, Anaconda, Butte, Conrad, Columbia Falls, Big Fork, Stevensville, and Swan Valley. Died 1/10/2010, age 88. Accused of sexually abusing at least one minor. Included on the Helena diocese's list, posted to its website 4/29/2015 in compliance with the non-monetary terms of the 3/5/2015 bankruptcy settlement.

Prohibited from contact with minors in 8/2019 due to allegations of "boundary violations and grooming" involving teenage girls. Sent to St. Luke's Institute for treatment, then reassigned to a Brooklyn parish in 6/2021. Again suspended in 10/2021 after he was seen with a teenage girl at the parish. Brooklyn auxiliary bishop Raymond Chappetto allegedly had not informed Okrokoto's new pastor of the prohibitions against him. Also, the pastor of Okrokoto's previous parish complained in a memo to Chappetto in 9/2020 that the priest continued to spend time with teenage girls, despite his treatment at St. Luke's. Chapetto retired in 2/2022 and was the subject of a Vos estis investigation, initiated in 12/2021, due to his alleged mishandling of the Okrokoto case, including failing to inform diocesan officials of the 9/2020 memo. The Vatican determined that the allegations against Chapetto were unfounded.

The Scranton diocese announced in 10/2019 that Oldfield had been credibly accused of child sexual abuse and was being added to its list. Died in 8/22/2019, age 85. 

Oligny's name is included in 10/2021 on the Franciscans' Holy Name Province list of those with substantiated allegations against them of child sexual abuse. No details provided as to when or where the abuse occurred. He died in 1986. (Placing him for now in the New York archdiocese, where the Province is based.)

Accused of abuse at St. Mary's in New Hampton 1957-1958. Claim settled in 2/2006. Olinger died 4/19/1993.

Reportedly in 2002, Oliver molested a 14-year-old boy in 1967 after picking the boy up, who was hitchhiking home. Instead of taking him home, Oliver drove him to a house, gave him alcohol and molested him. The incident was reported to police. Oliver pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 6 or 7 years' probation. He was kept in ministry and later elevated to monsignor. He was placed on leave 5/2002. A sheriff's report from the case included a comment suggesting prior cover-ups by the Diocese. Oliver supervised credibly accused priest Robert Trupia. Included on the Diocese's list of credibly accused. Died 3/26/2011.

Removed from active ministry in 12/2006 after the Diocese completed the investigation of a complaint that Olivier had "sexual contact, but not intercourse, with a female teen over four years" in the 1950s. His victim wrote to the Diocese in 12/2006. Olivier admitted to the "relationship." The abuse took place during his first assignment. Included on the Diocese's 3/19/2019 list of credibly accused. Died 10/8/2019.

Monsignor. Named as accused in the 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. Phone call to the Diocese in 5/1993 from a man alleging sexual abuse by Olowin when he was young; possibly one or two other victims. Details vague. Retired to Sun City AZ in 10/2016. Ministry restricted in 11/2016 due to past allegation. Included on the Diocese's list 12/3/2018; noted to be under investigation. The list updated 1/2/2023 shows Olowin to be credibly accused and that Olowin is forbidden to function as a priest.

From Lithuania. Arrived in Chicago in 1958. Assigned to St. Michael's Lithuanian Church in Chicago, then chaplain  1961-1974 in the Diocese of Grand Rapids MI at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. First named publicly as accused on the Diocese of Gaylord's list 11/10/2018 (name erroneously spelled "Olschaysken.") Noted to have been removed from the diocese and returned to his Order in 1974. Per a parish history for St. Mary of the Assumption in Coal City IL, diocese of Joliet, Olschausken was assigned there 1974 until his death 7/21/1987. Further, "Father Leo endeared himself to the Altar Severs. These boys were his special charge. They became very close to him and he to them." Included in the MI Attorney General's 1/8/2024 Gaylord report. 

Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 1/17/19. (Name misspelled "Olshowski.") Noted to have a single substantiated allegation against him of abuse, occurring in 1952, reported after his death. Olschowlski died in 1991.

Ordained in 1960 for the Archdiocese of Detroit. Transferred in 1976 to the Archdiocese of Miami where he was incardinated in 1981. Accused of sodomizing his foster son starting when the boy was age 11. Found guilty by jury 12/18/2002 of indecent liberties with a minor, innocent of sodomy charges; sentenced 1/30/2003 to three years probation. New trial denied 3/13/2003. Civil suit filed 12/22/2003 in FL alleging abuse there. Conviction reversed 12/8/2005 by MI Supreme Court: Olszewski "was deprived of an impartial jury." Prosecutor did not retry because his sentence was mostly served. Removed from MI and FL sex-offender registries. Ministry continued to be restricted. Included on the Detroit archdiocese's 6/10/2019 list of credibly accused. Olszewski died 4/25/2025.

Reportedly in 4/18/2013, a man stated in testimony regarding the statute of limitations in NJ in 2012 that as a teenage boy he was repeatedly raped by Omarini, a Pauline Father, in the early- to mid-1960s. The boy was a parishioner at St. Bernard's church in Plainfield NJ, where Omarini said Mass in Italian on Sundays at least until 1977. The priest would travel from the Society of St. Paul's abbey and seminary on Staten Island in the NY archdiocese. He was assigned to the order's facility on Staten Island for his entire career, except for a two-year stint at St. Paul's Monastery in Canfield OH 1950-1952. In Omarini's early years as a priest, the Society of St. Paul had a connection with nearby St. Rita's church on Staten Island. The complainant stated that there were other victims and that Omarini abused in Plainville and also on Staten Island at the Society's abbey there. Omarini died 11/4/1995. A lawsuit filed 7/13/2020 claims abuse of three siblings at St. Bernard's in the late-1950s and early-1960s.

From the Philippines. Arrived in San Diego CA in 1990. Charged in 1993 with 40 counts of abusing a 14-year-old girl just after returning from Pope John Paul II's Mass in Denver in 8/1993. The girl's mother told the Diocese and he confessed. Surrendered his faculties in 10/1993 and fled to the Philippines. Considered a fugitive from criminal charges. A civil suit also was filed. Name included in 3/2007 on the San Diego diocese's list of credibly accused priests. Personnel file released in 10/2010. Remained a fugitive in 2024.

Retired in 2005. Removed in 11/2018 from public ministry due to allegations deemed credible of sexual misconduct about 55 years prior. Onderko adamantly denied the allegations and, as of 3/2020, was suing the diocese. Shown in 1/2020 on the diocese's list of accused. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes two "reported survivors."

According to the MI Attorney General's 12/16/2024 Diocese of Lansing Report, in 5/2002 a man told the Diocese that he was sexually abused at age 16-17 in 1974 by Onofrey, during a camping trip out west. The man said that on one of the nights the two of them drank beer and then he went to sleep; a few hours later he woke up to Onofrey performing fellatio on him. He said he told Onofrey to stop, which he did. Onofrey's alleged victim said that he worried that the priest may have also sexually abused other boys. Onofrey died in 2009.

Jesuit brother. Joined the order in 1961. Professed final vows in 1977. Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits West Province on its list 12/7/2018. Allegations reported in 1980 and in 2003 of the sexual abuse of a minor in 1980. Was reportedly removed from assignment at Jesuit High School in Carmichael in 1980. Reassigned to Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose. Removed from ministry in 2003, sent to live under a safety plan at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos.

From Kenya. Pastor of St. Bernard in Albers and St. Damian in Damiansville when suspended in 10/2020 after an allegation of "inappropriate conduct" with a minor. Included in 9/2022 on the diocese's list of credibly accused. Laicized 4/13/2022. Added the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

From Nigeria. Worked in the Brownsville diocese beginning in 1999. A parish priest wrote to diocesan officials in 2000 about Onyia's behavior with women, and asked that he be removed. Onyia received a warning. Police learned in 2/2001 that Onyia had sexually assaulted a mentally challenged teenage girl. He fled to Nigeria during the investigation. The girl sued in 2001, settled in 2003. Two other girls also filed suit in 2002. Onyia was laicized 2016. Included on the Brownsville diocese's 1/31/2019 list of credibly accused .
