Fr. Paul Kabat

Worked in the Dioceses of Duluth, Crookston, Belleville IL and in the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis. Name released by order in 7/2015 as part of a 2/2015 settlement. Name added 11/3/2017 by St. Paul-MInneapolis archdiocese to list of 19 "priests and religious brothers who have served or spent time in the archdiocese and have substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor against them." Left the Oblates in 1989. Died 5/31/1999. Included in 9/22 on the Belleville diocese's list.

Fr. Bernard J. Kaczmarczyk

Named as accused in 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. Included on the diocese's list of credibly accused. Removed from ministry in 1992 and went on leave of absence. Faculties were withdrawn in 2/1994 after the diocese received a report that Kaczmarczyk had sexually abused three boys, ages 17, 14 and 11. The boys were brothers and family friends of Kaczmarczyk. The eldest was "involved" with the priest from the age of 7. When he was 10 he started staying overnight in the rectory. At one point Kaczmarczyk had the boy make a "Consecration of the Mystical Rose" and wear a rosary ring on his left hand. The abuse occurred in the rectory of Holy Name of Mary in Donora PA and at Kaczmarczyk's home in FL. Convicted in the 1990s, along with another priest, of mail fraud for operating a phony foundation since 1987 to raise money to build a shrine. Sentenced in 1/1996 to 27 months in prison. Kaczmarczyk spent $495,000 on a FL home and other luxuries. He also took $75,000 worth of items from Holy Name Parish before it closed in 10/1992. The other priest stated at trial that Kaczmarczyk began a sexual "relationship" when he was age 15 in the 1970s, which continued for years. The younger priest said he allowed it to go on because his family was in need and Kaczmarczyk would give them money.

Named in a 2004 civil suit as having assaulting at least one student at St. Anthony Seminary. Two suits filed in Fall 2009. On the Franciscans' Santa Barbara Province list 5/31/19. It notes allegations reported in 1993, 2004, 2006 and 2008 of the sexual abuse of minors 1981-87. Removed from ministry in 1993, living under restrictions. On the Oakland diocese's list in 2019. Included on the Diocese of Fresno's 8/21 list of credibly accused, where he was assigned 1974-76.

Fr. Ferdinand L. Kaiser

Following a recent court order, on 12/16/13 Bishop Quinn released a list of 13 names of priests who had "credible" accusations of abuse involving minors. Kaiser's inclusion on this list is the first public notice that he had been accused of abuse. Voluntarily resigned in 3/68. Died 1/3/73. Diocese updated its list 6/23/14 with additional information. Criminally charged in 5/68 with sexual abuse of a minor boy (sodomy). Pled guilty same month and was sentenced 7/11/68. In 1/93, diocese received allegations that he abuses a boy and a girl after his 1968 resignation.

Fr. Neil Kalina

Diocese: Archdiocese of Detroit MI

Complaint to archdiocese in 2017 that, when he was pastor of St. Kieran in Utica in the mid-1980s, Kalina plied a 12-year-old boy with alcohol, cocaine and marijuana and fondled him during sleepovers in the rectory. Convicted in 1985 on drug offenses, sentenced in 1986 to 6 months jail and 2 years probation. Moved to CA in 1986. Left active ministry in 1993. Ran "a faith-based service program for at-risk young men" and referring to himself as "Fr. Neil." Investigated in 2018 by the MI A.G. Arrested in 5/19 in Littlerock CA, charged with criminal sexual conduct. To be arraigned 2/10/20 on two charges related to alleged incidents involving a teenager in 1984. On Detroit archdiocese's list 6/10/19. Included on the San Bernardino diocese's list in 5/21, where he was assigned 1987-1989 to parishes in Redlands and Riverside. Convicted in 6/22. Sentenced on 7/26/22 to 7-15 years in prison, with credit for 215 days served.

Fr. Scott James Kallal

Diocese: Archdiocese of Kansas City KS

Member of the Apostles of the Interior Life. Assistant at Holy Spirit in Overland Park when suspended 7/17 after two people complained of inappropriate conduct by Kallal, one toward an 11-year-old girl. Per the girl's father, the priest tickled her and touched her breast at a St. Patrick's gathering in the summer of 2015. Kallal denied "moral misconduct or malicious intent." Arrested in MD 7/24/17, where he had been sent for treatment. Charged with two felony counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Pled not guilty. Judge ordered trial. On archdiocese's list 1/25/19. Trial in 9/19 ended in a hung jury. To remain on leave of absence. In 9/21 the District Attorney's Office dismissed the case after determining that a retrial was not in the best interest of the alleged victim. Kallal was to remain on leave pending an investigation by the archdiocese.


Fr. Raymond C. Kalter

Accused in 2005 of abuse in 1959 at St. Alphonsus Parish in Davenport. Died 1977. One claim settled by diocese 2/06 as part of settlement involving four priests. Name appeared on diocese's 7/10/08 list of credibly accused, noting allegations of abuse of three boys. Earliest claimed abuse was in the 1950s.


Br. Kumara S. Kambhampati

Professed vows in 2007. Removed in 12/18 from his assignment at Chaminade College Prep in West Hills after "credible information" that he engaged in recent inappropriate communication of a sexual nature with a student. Kambhampati had been at the school since 2017. He was also removed from the Marianists' West Hills community. Withdrew from the order in 2021, per the Marianists' list in 11/21. The updated lists adds to Kambhampati's status, "Sexually abusive contact of a minor through the use of internet/social media."

Fr. Herman Bernard Kamlage

Included on the diocese's list 7/31/20 of those with substantiated allegations. Ministry restricted 10/9/94. Retired 4/28/95. "Charter Suspension" 9/13/02. Died 12/01/18. Reportedly, court records show accusations against Kamlage of the abuse of at least six boys, ages 5-18, during visits to the priest's cabin at Lake Carnico. Journals kept by Kamlage 1981-85 surfaced in 7/20, in which he asked God for forgiveness for "carnal" behavior, and said of a boy's pending visit, "What fantasies and anticipation."

Sued in 1995. Accused of abusing a girl, age 13-16, in 1981-84. He claimed in 2013 that he merely kissed the girl on the lips and gave her a hug on one occasion. Kept in ministry. Retired in 2002. Permanently removed from ministry in 2003. Living in Victoria MN in 2013 at age 81. Name appears on list of priests with credible allegations of abuse of minors released by the Archdiocese 12/5/13.

Accused in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act in 10/10 of sexually abusing an altar boy, beginning age 9 or 10, repeatedly 1988-90, while pastor of St. John the Baptist in Chestertown. Kampfer's accuser also alleged abuse on one occasion during that time by Bishop Hubbard, who was invited to the rectory by Kampfer. Kampfer died in 2003.

Fr. Peter S. Kanchong

Extern priest from Thailand. Began working in Boston in 1977. Arrested in 1983, charged with molesting a girl, age 9. Also molested her two brothers. Received probation; refused treatment. Cardinal Law asked that he be recalled to Thailand. Cardinal Medeiros had already withdrawn Kanchong's right to say Mass and act as a priest in 1983 after negative letter from bishop in Thailand. Refused to return to Thailand. Living in the Meeting House Hill section of Dorchester in Boston as of 7/5/16. Omitted from Boston archdiocesan list on 8/25/11. Included on the list in 10/18, noted to be AWOL. Status remains the same in 8/22.

Fr. Charles R. Kane

Died 5/19/86. Accused by his sister, after his death, of sexually abusing her son; she further alleged that "something was [also] going on with a young man" who lived with Kane in his family home. The 8/11 Boston Archdiocese list  reported no formal determination of guilt either because he died prior to canonical investigation or it was not complete at his death. There was a settlement in 2020, in the high five figures. In this case, Kane was accused of sexually abusing an altar boy, age 11-12, in 1973 or '74, while assigned to St. Mary's in Billerica.

Accused in a 1994 civil suit of abuse of a youth in 1982 at St. Bartholomew's in Cape Elizabeth. Kane had been placed on limited ministry in 1987. Claim settled in 1995. Retired in 1997 from duties as hospital chaplain. In 1/07 it was announced that the Vatican had ordered Kane to lead a life of prayer and penance. Died 11/13/10.

Fr. Thomas A. Kane

Accused in a 1993 lawsuit of sexually abusing boy 1968-1979, starting when the boy was age 9. Allegedly offered the boy to other priests for sex. Settled in 1995. Often associated with Revs. Thomas Teczar and Victor Frobas. Co-founder and director of House of Affirmation, a treatment center for clergy in Whitensville MA. Left in 1986 after allegations of financial improprieties; skimmed funds to buy resort properties in FL and ME. Left the diocese in 1993. Continued to receive financial support from the diocese while working in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico, as director of the Worldwide Teachers Institute, which he helped found. Kane lived in a house near the institute, and had young men and boys living with him. He fled in 12/2002 after news in Boston of allegations against him and that he might be in Jalisco. Voluntary laicization in 2012, announced 3/5/2013.


Fr. William R. Kantner

Documents released in 4/2010 show that in 2002 the Vicar General of the Memphis diocese found credible an allegation that Kantner had abused a teenage boy over several years in the late 1970s. In 2004 the Bishop wrote a letter of recommendation that allowed Kantner to work on a mission trip to Mexico; the Bishop admitted later that he may have put children in harm's way. Kantner denied abuse. He worked in the Allentown diocese 2001 and 2002, 2003 and 2004 and was back in Memphis in 2005. In 2006 a former seminarian complained that Kantner had subjected him to aggressive behavior and sexual advances years prior. The Diocese called  the allegations "inconclusive." Kept in ministry, sent to counseling. Kantner died 2/17/2013. Included in the Diocese's 2020 report of those with credible allegations against them of the sexual abuse of minors.

Fr. Robert Kapoun

The "Polka Padre." Accused in a 1989 lawsuit of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy for two years, 1973-74, after the boy sought counseling. Accused of sexual battery and clergy malpractice. Suit settled in 1990. In 1995 four men filed lawsuits claiming abuse as minors by Kapoun 1966-81. In 2/96 a jury awarded $550K in damages and $600K punitives to one victim. Decision overturned on SOL. A second case settled and in a third the jury found outside SOL. Permanently removed 2002. Admitted to at least three allegations. On the archdiocese's list in 2013 of credibly accused. Still receiving funds from the Archdiocese for medical pension as of 2014. Died 12/10/20 in Palmetto, FL.

Fr. Marvin J. Kapushion

Diocese: Diocese of Pueblo CO

Monsignor. Longtime director of Catholic Charities. Named as credibly accused by the CO A.G. in its supplemental report released 12/1/20. His accuser told the diocese 4/7/20 that Kapushion abused him as a teen in 1984 at a Christmas party at the priest's home. The boy was a resident of Sacred Heart Orphanage where Kapushion was his counselor. Kapushion died 4/20/20. The diocese reportedly waited until after the priest's death to inform law enforcement of the allegation.

Sent to St. Luke Institute for evaluation and treatment. Reassigned to non-parish ministries. A third report in 10/1991 of past abuse of a 13- to 14-year-old altar boy. Karabin admitted to abusing two other boys. Accused in 1997 of abuse of a college youth. Formally withdrew from ministry in 2002. Accused in a 4/2004 suit of molesting a youth in 1983 and 1984. Accused by two others in a 9/2004 suit. Claims included in the diocese's 9/2007 $1.25M settlement with 32 plaintiffs alleging abuse by 17 priests. Died in 2016. Named in the 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. Included on the diocese's list of credibly accused.

Fr. Peter J. Karalus

Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia. Placed on leave in 3/20 due to an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a male minor in 2011. Karalus allegedly used inappropriate words during confession. Karalus emphatically denied the allegation. The diocese announced 5/28/20 that the Diocesan Review Board found the allegation to be unsubstantiated, and the D.A. found no basis to file charges. Karalus was returned to active ministry.

A woman sued in 1993 alleging that when she was 11, Kardas referred to her as his girlfriend, kissed her in the rectory, and often attempted to caress her. The behavior allegedly occurred for a year. He was in his mid-twenties. The suit was settled in 1995 for $55K. Another women had complained about Kardas prior to the 1993 allegation. Placed on leave in 1993. Remained on leave until his death in 8/06.

Criminal charges dismissed in 2003 due to Supreme Court ruling. Kareta also admitted abusing a youth in the 1960s in WI. Accuser told L.A. archdiocese in 1985; Kareta was kept active. Died 10/4/06. Personnel file released in 1/13. On the Monterey diocese's list 1/2/19. It notes a report received in 2002 of abuse in the 1970s. Included on the Fresno diocese's 8/21 list of credibly accused. Included in 10/22 on the Chicago archdiocese's list.

Fr. Arthur Michael Karey

Monsignor. Worked in Detroit, Ecorse and Orion. Police chaplain. Died in 1993. The archdiocese announced in 6/18 that it had investigated and deemed credible an allegation received the previous year that Karey had sexually abused a girl under age 16, in the early to mid years of his priesthood.

Rufina Karges

Diocese: Diocese of Helena MT

Mother Loyola, who worked at St. Ignatius Mission Boarding School, was accused of abusing at least 24 of the over 500 claimants included in massive $166M settlement with Jesuits in 2011. Abuse occurred in 1950s and early 1960s. She was supervisor of the boys' dorm and would take individual boys back to her room at night for sex. It is believed her last name was Menager. She is deceased. Named in large lawsuit filed 10/11 by multiple plaintiffs. Per diocese's list in 4/29/15, her name was Rufina Karges.

Religious Brother. Personnel file released 12/02. Karow was a Dominican brother when he allegedly molested a boy 1965-68. Became 3rd grade teacher in Boston Public schools, for 31 years. Diocesan officials found out in 1994 where he worked but did not tell school officials. This was just after the victim had come forward to Archdiocese and Order. Claim settled in 1996 for $115K. Karow retired from school in 1997. In 2001 he was living in Brenham ,TX. Omitted from 2011 Boston AD database. Died in 2011. On Dominicans St. Joseph Province list in late 2018. It notes he professed in 1962 and was preparing for ordination when not approved for vows in 1965.

Included in 3/21 on the diocese's list of accused, which notes alleged abuse at St. John Nepomucene in Bohemia, where he was assigned 1/80 until his death 7/28/93.

Reportedly kissed a teenage girl in 1959 while driving her home from a church event. He claimed she kissed him and he said "no." She reported it the following year, and Kaske was sent to the Servants of the Paraclete in Jemez Springs, NM for treatment. Left the priesthood, went on to marry.

On the diocese's list of credibly accused 12/19/2018.

Fr. Robert S. Kaszynski

Resigned 3/02 after allegations that he had abused at least two teenage girls in the 1960s-1970s. The 9/02 list of Fall River priests accused of sexual misconduct reported that there were four allegations against Kaszynski, all beyond the statute of limitations. Another woman made separate allegations in 5/02. Included in 1/21 on the diocese's list of credibly accused. Died 2/7/14.

Fr. Wenceslaus Katanga

Diocese: Diocese of Fargo ND

From Tanzania. Attended the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, OH. Assigned to three Fargo diocese parishes when placed leave in 4/19 during an investigation of an "interaction" with a minor while assigned to Sts. Anne and Joachim in Fargo. Investigators said an incident occurred when Katanga lived in Towner, in McHenry County, and involved a 6-year-old girl; as of 8/19 McHenry County prosecution possible. Two incidents involving the girl allegedly occurred in Fargo, but the Cass County Attorney's Office determined in 8/19 that there would be no criminal charges there due to lack of evidence and no witnesses. The diocese was to investigate after the completion of the McHenry County investigation. The state A.G. announced in 11/19 that there would be no charges, due to insufficient evidence.

Fr. Kenneth Kaucheck

A woman contacted the Archdiocese of Detroit in 1/09 alleging that Kaucheck had engaged in sexual misconduct with her in 1976 when she was 16 and in counseling with him at Guardian Angels in Clawson. At that time, a friend learned the two had traveled to FL together and told deacon who told pastor. Girl's father met with pastor; Kaucheck was transferred. After the 2009 events, Kaucheck was placed on leave effective 4/23/09; Review Board determined complaint was substantive. He resigned his positions as pastor of St Mary's in Royal Oak and St James' in Ferndale. Not prosecuted because girl was older than the MI age of consent at the time. In 2015, with a nun, Kaucheck founded Gianna House Pregnancy and Parenting Residence, a facility for pregnant teens in Eastpointe. According to the archdiocese, Kaucheck resigned from the center on 4/17/16. Kaucheck filed suit v SNAP and two newspapers 1/30/17 alleging defamation; he 'vehemently maintained his innocence'.

Seminarian John Brian Kaup

Diocese: Diocese of Charlotte NC

Accused in a lawsuit filed 2/2/17 of the sexual abuse and assault of a 17-year-old girl on 12/25/13 in the parking lot of Sacred Heart Church in Salisbury, NC. Kaup, age 27, was a seminarian and youth minister at the parish. The suit alleges also that Kaup continued to have sex with the girl until mid-2014. A police investigation in 2016 did not result in charges. Kaup left the seminary in 5/14 and was hired to work as a youth minister at a Huntersville parish. Diocesan officials maintained that the pastor, for whom Kaup had worked at Sacred Heart, did not know of the allegations. Kaup left the Huntersville job in summer 2016. Kaup countersued, saying the two had been in a dating relationship and that her parents approved.

Fr. Charles M. Kavanagh

Removed in 2002. Accused of improper relationship with a minor male, including inappropriate touching. Denied allegation. Vatican ordered a church trial in 2006. In 9/06 plaintiff produced letter written to him by Kavanagh in 12/84 which appeared to substantiate the abuse. Two Church trials held. Laicization announced in 12/10 after appeal denied. Kavanagh filed suit in 3/11 against accuser. In 9/12, he sued the NY Archdiocese for libel, stating that his accuser had recanted and apologized. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19.

Named in a lawsuit filed 11/27/19 by a 53-year-old who claimed Kavanaugh sexually abused him over three years, beginning when he was age 7 and Kavanaugh was assigned to St. Finn Barr. The boy allegedly told two nuns and his teacher of the abuse at the time, but there was no action. HIs accuser said he reported the abuse to the archdiocese in 2004, but it was not reported to police and Kavanaugh was kept in ministry. He died 6/28/13.

Noted to have six allegations against him. Report to diocese in 3/02 of abuse by Kavungal in 1982. He was assigned 1981-84 to Ss Peter and Paul in Merrillville. Reportedly returned to India by 11/85. Worked in schools 1991-2000. Went to Sweden 9/00, where a woman accused him of sexual harrassment; left Sweden 1/04. Moved to Kenya. Back to India 2005. Last known to be in India and removed from public ministry.

Fr. Andrew M. Kawecki

From Poland. Ordained for the Greenburg diocese. Placed on leave in 5/19 pending investigation by law enforcement of an allegation that he sexually abused a minor fifteen years prior. Pastor of St. Joseph in Everson and St. John the Baptist in Scottdale at the time of his suspension. Arrested in 8/20, charged with indecent assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with an altar boy for three years, beginning in 2004 when the boy was age 11. The abuse  occurred at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Fairchance. Kawecki pleaded no contest on 10/25/21. Required to register as a sex offender for ten years. Sentenced in 3/22 to 2 1/2 to 5 years in state prison.


Fr. Kevin L. Kayda

In 9/13 a parent reported to the diocese concerns that Kayda was having inappropriate interactions with their minor daughter on Facebook. The diocese confronted Kayda and had his computer forensically examined. Pornographic images of adolescents were found, as well as internet visits to child porn websites. Kayda died by suicide 10/3/13 at age 27. He wrote several suicide notes which alluded to his having been an abuse victim. He did not name his abuser. Named as accused by the diocese on its list 8/1/18. Included in the PA Grand Jury Report 8/14/18.

Br. Gerard Aloysius Kealy

Retired by 1984. A man told the Archdiocese and Order in 1989 that Kealy, a teacher at O'Dea School in Seattle, had physically accosted him "in a sexual manner" in the early 1960s. Order said Kealy was living in supervised, church-run retirement facility in Ireland with no access to children. Same man filed suit in 2003. Kealy died 10/22/96. Named in a new 11/22/11 suit by 6 of 7 plaintiffs. On 6/25/14 the Archdiocese announced a $12.1M settlement of 30 claims against the Order and the Archdiocese, Briscoe School in Kent Valley and Seattle's Bishop O'Dea High School. Five of the claims involved abuse by "Feely Kealy." Name included on archdiocese's list 1/15/16 of clergy and religious with admitted, established or credible allegations against them of sexual abuse of a minor. Worked at Briscoe Memorial School summers 1958 & '59, O'Dea High 1954-63; 1977-80.

Resigned from parish position in 3/02 and went to live in a restricted monitored setting after an allegation that he engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a 15- or 16-year-old boy in the 1970s. First reported in 2001; no action by review board until complainant came forward again in 2002 with more information. Admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking with boys in the 1970s. Kealy had served as chancellor of the archdiocese and then as judicial vicar of the Chicago province's Court of Appeals. Permanently removed from ministry in 9/05. Resigned in 4/06. As of 2014 was still a priest, working as a lawyer. Laicized in 12/18.

Fr. Joseph H. Kean

First named publicly as accused in the 8/14/18 PA Grand Jury Report. Included on the Allentown diocese 8/19/18 list. of credibly accused. Report to the diocese in 12/92 that Kean abused a boy over several years, starting when he was age 12 and Kean was pastor of SS Peter and Paul in Tower City. Kean was at the parish 1/77-1/83. Kean acknowledged the abuse and to abusing the boy's friend. May have been sent to Paracletes in NM for treatment. More victims identified by the Grand Jury, found in secret archives. A second man contacted the diocese in 1999 claiming abuse as a teenage altar boy in the 1970s in Tower City. A third man came forward in 4/02, saying that Msgr. William Jones sexually abused him then introduced him to and "shared" him with Kean. He said Kean performed oral sex on him and other boys in his Tower City bedroom. Reports in 2005 of abuse of two more: a Tower City altar boy ages 10-15 and an Ashland boy 1987-88, who went on to be heroin-addicted and suicidal. Kean retired in 2002. Laicized 6/26/07.

Charged with assaulting a girl between 1981 and 1983 when he was at St. Elizabeth Parish in Milton and/or Our Lady of the Rosary in Stoughton. Sentenced to 30 days in jail and probation. Transferred to another church in 1987. Absent from the archdiocese without leave from 1989. Moved to FL. Registered sex offender. Involuntary laicization in 2009 announced 6/13/11. Included on the Boston archdiocese's list of accused 8/25/11. Died 5/17/21.

Kearney taught at St. Francis High 1970-95. Removed from the school in 1995 after allegations. Would allegedly sexually abuse boys under the guise of wrestling. Five more suits to be filed naming Kearney, per attorneys in 12/19.

She told her family in 2006 and went to the archdiocese. After investigating, the archdiocese found insufficient evidence but placed him under certain restrictions. Took leave 10/13/13 from the University of St. Thomas. Police reports indicate possible abuse of a 14-year-old girl in Italy. Denied all allegations. Not on list released by archdiocese 12/5/13. Keating resigned 9/17/14 from his position at St. Thomas.

Accused in a 2003 lawsuit of sexually abusing a teenage girl in 1982. Per the plaintiff, she was raped by Msgr. John M. Zeder 1978-81, and then by Keating after she told him about Zeder. Both priests were assigned to St. Mary's in Cortland, where the girl was a parishioner and worked as a maid. Other alleged victims came forward after publicity around the first case. Three sisters told their story in 1/04 and filed civil suit. Keating remained in ministry until 2/04. He denied all allegations. Privileges removed in 12/04. Case was to be sent to Vatican. Both suits dismissed by appeals court 9/06 on SOL. Keating died 11/17/16. On diocese's list 12/31/18. In 5/20 a 57-year-old man filed suit, claiming Keating sexually abused him as a child in Binghamton, beginning in 1973.

Civil suit in 1994 alleged abuse of a boy at St. Eugene's in the Santa Rosa diocese. Settled in 1995 for $450K. Living in Oceanside, CA when indicted in 9/2002, charged with the molestation and sodomy of two boys, ages 10 and 14, in the late 1960s. Fled to Mexico, where he was working at an orphanage. Arrested in Puerta Vallarta in 3/2003, charged with 75 counts of abuse of three Sonoma County children. Charges dropped in 2003 due to Supreme Court ruling on statutes of limitation. On Santa Rosa diocese's list of accused 1/12/2019. On Las Cruces diocese's list of credibly accused 6/24/2019, where he worked in 1991. Died 10/22/2021. Named in new lawsuit(s) in 2022.

Professed vows in 1945. Worked in Dayton OH, Hamilton OH, Pittsburgh PA and Brooklyn NY. Left the Order in 1962. Died in 2007. In 4/2014 a man alleged abuse as a minor by Keegan at North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh 1957-1961. After the Pittsburgh diocese sought information on other possible victims, two brothers came forward. Diocese said it knew nothing of the allegations until 2014. Head of the Marianists apologized in writing to the diocese and students. By 5/2014 six men had reported sexual abuse by Keegan as minors at North Catholic during 1956-1961. Included on the Marianists' 6/24/2020 list of accused.

The archdiocese had determined years prior that there was "reasonable cause to believe" that Keehan had abused children.  Computer taken away from Keehan in 9/10 as he was accessing numerous social networking sites, most child-oriented. In 1/13 the archdiocese recommended he enroll in a technology course to prevent his continued reliance on his "ignorance" of technology to avoid accountability re internet use. Last known to be living at a Catholic Charities nursing home in Palos Park, IL.

The boy was a Bishop Turner High School student and Keeler was Vice-Principal and Dean of Discipline. Keeling allegedly took the boy on overnight trips and gave him alcohol and cigarettes. Keeling taught 1974-1979 at Bethlehem Catholic High School in the Diocese of Allentown PA. Keeling was transferred in 1981 to the Buffalo NY diocese.

He is said to have warned the boys that, if they told, God would punish them. Keffer died 2/6/05.

On the Galveston-Houston archdiocese's list 1/31/19, which gives Kyles as an alternate spelling. Keil worked in Houston before his assignment in the Mobile archdiocese and again in the 1960s. As a Josephite, his ministry was in African-American churches. He worked in Tampa FL in the 1930s and was transferred to Baton Rouge LA in 1938. Worked at a New Orleans parish 1930-31 and 1953-55. In Tampa he was an organizer of the African-American Boy Scout movement and a director of the Urban League. Keil was born on 8/12/1893, ordained in 1/1927, and died on 5/11/1969.

His privileges as a retired priest were removed in 10/12.

Retired 7/99. Removed 7/10 from assignment as chaplain at Bishop McGuinness High School after accusation of sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old boy in 1977 in Albemarle, NC. Assigned there 4/73 - 8/77. Police notified 9/09 and told diocese shortly thereafter. Charges filed 7/10. Arrested, released on bail 7/8/10. Second accuser a week later. No criminal charges filed. Both men sued 9/11. Kelleher admitted to 1977 abuse. Multiple other accusers. Two more men filed suit 2012; dismissed on SOL 6/20/14. Criminal charges to which Kelleher had confessed were dismissed 7/1/14 due to his dementia. Died 8/20/14. Charlotte bishop was to preside at memorial mass. On Raleigh diocese's list in 10/18. On Charlotte list 12/29/19. Suit filed 4/13/20.

Fr. Brian Keller

Placed on leave in 2002 after allegations that he had molested teens, both male and female, in the 1980s. Several of the teens said they gave depositions to the diocese in the late 1980s. In 10/03 Keller's supervising priest, Vincent Gallo, was named as an abuser in a massive civil suit naming 24 priests. Per diocese's list in 2/19, Keller was permanently removed from ministry 10/28/11.

Accused in 2002 of giving a 16-year-old boy wine, then fondling him in bed during a trip in the early 1980s. Keller also wrote "love letters" to the boy. Keller denied abuse but admitted holding the youth in a "manner inappropriate for a priest." Archdiocese said conduct did not fit definition of sex abuse. Kept in ministry, including during the archdiocese's investigation. Pastor in 2019 of Prince of Peace parish in Houston, there since 1999. In 12/18 another man alleged abuse as a minor by Keller. Suspended 1/31/19 pending investigation. Bishop allowed him to celebrate one last mass prior to suspension. On archdiocese's list 1/31/19. In 5/19 Keller requested retirement "for age and medical reasons." In 6/19 a third man alleged abuse by Keller at age 15.

Fr. Arnold E. Kelley

Initial allegation of past abuse at St. Rita's in Lowell made in 11/97. Diocesan Review Board found no credible evidence and Kelley agreed to move. In 4/02, Personnel Committee learned of a second allegation against Kelley. A woman said she reported it to Sr. Rita McCarthy at the time and that McCarthy said there were no other allegations against Kelley. Per the 8/11 Boston archdiocese's list, the allegations were unsubstantiated. Retired without restrictions. In 10/15 was 'senior priest' and in residence at All Saints in Haverhill. Accused in suit filed in 4/16 of abuse of boy, age 10-13, 1973-76 at St.Thomas Aquinas in Jamaica Plain. Alleged abuse include oral sex and sodomy. Kelley denied abuse. Settled in 1/18. Reportedly died 3/17/20 in Lawrence, MA although his death is not indicated on the archdiocese's list in 8/22.

At least 38 men have filed suit alleging forced oral sex, rape, and other abuse by Kelley when they were minors. At least 4 complaints in 1983 prompted transfer to new parish. After complaints in 1986, Pilarczyk sent Kelley to Paracletes, then assigned him to hospital chaplaincy with parish residence and ministry. Allegations 1993-94. Removed 2002. Allowed to be counselor until 2003 suits were reported. Suit withdrawn after 5/31/06 ruling by Ohio Supreme Court. Kelley died 6/09.

Arrested in 5/21 in SC for the alleged sexual assault of a boy in 1983 in North Smithfield RI. In 7/21 Kelley was reportedly being held at Eleanor Slater Hospital in RI, where he was to be evaluated. Kelley's accuser said he lived in rectories with Kelley as a boy in the 1980s, that it had been reported to diocesan officials, but that he continued living with Kelley. Further, he said another boy who was "close" to Kelley as a boy died by suicide in adulthood. Kelley resigned from St. Aidan's in Cumberland in 1992 because of "divisiveness" in the parish over his "leadership style." He left RI in 1993 and became a US Army chaplain. He was removed from ministry in Charleston SC in 2015 due to a relationship with an adult woman. Ruled incompetent to stand trial in 2/22, due to advanced dementia.

In 1977 police spotted Kelley in a car with a 17-year-old boy during an apparent sex act and told the archdiocese. Also accused of taking boys from Boston to Camp Fatima in NH and abusing them. One man told the archdiocese in 1992 that Kelley fondled his genitals at age 11 in 1968 and 1969. Matter settled for $10K in 1995. Placed on sick leave 1993-96. Named in several suits, beginning in 2002. One 2005 suit against Kelley and two others settled for $475K in 12/08. Assigned to a life of prayer and penance in 2005. Died 8/10/2011. Included on the archdiocese's list 8/25/11.

On archdiocese's 10/12/18 list. Noted to have two victims, allegedly abused in 1990 and 1992.

First civil suit filed in 1993. In 1997 one plaintiff was awarded $527K from Kelley. Ceased to be active priest in 1986. Two lawsuits settled in 2006. Laicized in 6/15, after which diocesan support was discontinued. In 2015 he was reportedly living in a homeless shelter in Boston.

Settlement in the high five figures in 2020 of a claim of abuse of an altar boy, age 12, at least three times in 1968, at St. Peter's Cathedral.

Named in a civil suit filed in 9/03 in FL. Accused of abuse of a 13-year-old youth in 1983 during trip from Buffalo to FL. Some dispute as to whether Kelley was part of the Buffalo diocese at time of abuse or St. Petersburg FL diocese. In 11/03 a second man alleged abuse before Kelley left Buffalo. Kelley resigned. All were from men who had been committed as boy's to St. Michael's. Added to the diocese's list. Kelly denied the allegations. Placed on leave when the allegations were received via the diocese's Independent Survivors Compensation Program. Settlement in the mid-five figures in 2020 of a claim of abuse of a boy, age 13, in 1978 at St. Michael's.

Per 2/19 news, a 62-year-old man said Kelly sexually abused him repeatedly over a three-month period when he was in elementary school and Kelly was assigned to St. Thomas the Apostle parish. The man received a settlement from the archdiocese's IRCP (Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program) in 7/17. He filed suit in 2019, after a new law extended the SOL in NY. The man claimed he was tricked into giving up his rights to further claims in accepting the IRCP settlement. Kelly's name was included on the archdiocese's list 4/26/19. It noted he left ministry, and died in 2008.

Per the PA AG's 3/1/16 Grand Jury report, Kelly sexually abused a boy, age 12-13, in 1975-77 while assigned to a State College parish. He reportedly groomed the boy with drive-in movies, drives to the mountains and offers of beer. Victim notified diocese in 1993; Bishop Adamec sent Kelly to treatment then reassigned him, despite being assessed as "pedophilic" and the recommendation he avoid young people. Victim sued in 2003. Report said Kelly also made advances on a 14-year-old boy in 1978. Kelly was identified as one of 9 "predator" priests known to the diocese per lawsuits filed by 5 people against 2 other priests in 2/03. In 5/04 the diocese settled claims for 21 plaintiffs for $3.7M, including claim against Kelly. Remained in ministry until 2/27/15, when removed during internal investigation after review of previous allegations. On Charleston diocese's list 3/29/19. Was visiting priest there.

The alleged victim said he was abused by Kelly, including rape, at St. Mary's Industrial School from ages 13-16, beginning in about 1945. This accuser said he was also sexually abused at the school by Xaverian Bros. Luanus/Lawrence Meegan and Fabian/Francis Donal, and by Passionist priest Timothy McGrath. Sent to treatment for three weeks then moved into Stella Maris Hospice, where he ministered to residents. Caused a car accident in 1982, which killed another priest. Died in 1987.

Placed on leave in 7/07 from St. Monica Roman Catholic Church on Mercer Island after allegations of inappropriate conduct with a 12-year-old boy. The incidents allegedly took place over about 6 months. No criminal charges filed. Archdiocese concluded its own investigation and and recommendation to the Vatican. In 2/10 the Vatican announced Kemp's permanent removal from active ministry. On archdiocese's list 1/15/16 of clergy and religious with admitted, established or credible allegations against them of child sexual abuse. Status is 'permanent prayer and penance.'

Deacon Thomas Kemp

A man filed suit in 12/07 accusing Kemp, who posed as a deacon at St. Agnes Parish, of abusing him for several years in the 1980s. The abuse allegedly began when the plaintiff was in second or third grade and continued until he was between 10-13. The boy had gone to Kemp for counseling. Kemp was general manager of a Catholic TV station that had its studios at the parish. The archdiocese promptly issued a statement denying that Kemp was ever a deacon or ever had privileges of any type, but acknowledge he may have presented himself as a deacon. Kemp was at St. Agnes Parish 1986-92. Plaintiff reported the abuse to the archdiocese in 2002, but no action.

Accused in 2005 suit of kneading and fondling the buttocks of 15-year-old boy at a diocesan high school, and of exposing himself to the boy while talking about "receiving the Body of Christ." Suit filed after diocesan board determined insufficient evidence. Board recommended Kenkel take "appropriate boundaries" training, which he did. Kept in parish ministry. Retired 2008. Diocesan Website on 8/3/13 showed him living in West Des Moines; possibly still working as supply priest. Report to diocese 9/6/18 of child sex abuse by Kenkel decades prior. Reportedly living in 2018 in a nursing facility. On diocese's list 4/4/19. It notes one substantiated allegation of abuse of a boy, occurring in the early 1980s, and unsubstantiated allegations in 2003 and 2005.

The priest was assigned to St. Mary's in Montrose at the time of the alleged abuse. He is said to have wrestled with altar boys, one at a time, on a mattress behind a curtain in the church basement. His accuser said that Kennedy would grab him and grind his genitals against him. Kennedy retired in 2011. He was assisting at a Pueblo parish when accused. Removed.

Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 12/14/2018. Accused in 2002 by two people of abuse in the late 1940s - early 1950s. Died in 2001. The Archdiocese stated it realized in 2018 that it knew in 1985 of allegations of abuse in the early 1950s. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report. It shows that the 1985 allegation was of a girl, ages 4-8, and that the victim knew that others were also abused. Kenney was kept in ministry and retired in 1987. The 2002 allegations were of abuse a girl, age 12 or 13, in the late 1940s, and of a 14-year-old girl in 1952-1953. In 2019 a man, who was related to Kenney, reported that the priest abused his sister and cousin as children in the 1960s, and another man said Kenney sexually abused him at age 5 in the 1960s. In 2021 a woman told the A.G. that Kenney abused her when she was age 4-5 in the late 1940s - early 1950s, and that it went on into her teenage years. She said he also abused her cousin.

No information on victims or when abuse occurred. The 8/11 Boston archdiocese list reported no formal determination of guilt either because he died prior to canonical investigation or it was not complete at his death. Worked in Brazil 18 years, then Baltimore, Washington DC and New York. May have been at an Opa Locka FL parish 1993-94 as Fr. John 'Kenning', C.Ss.R. In 1989 a teenage girl told her mother Kennington sexually abused her and her younger brother 1984-87, beginning when the girl was 11 and the boy was 8. Kennington was a close family friend who stepped in to help the mother after a divorce, including with childcare. They attended the Manhattan parish where he was assigned. The brother filed suit in 1993, settled in 2001. The sister could not sue, due to NY statute of limitations. Kennington was sent around 1995 to Order's monastery in Esopus, NY, assigned to archive Shroud of Turin research. He was honored in 2009 on the 50th anniversary of his ordination. Living in Brooklyn by 2010. Still active in 2016. Named in new lawsuit 2/19.

In 4/07 Court dismissed one suit on SOL, parts of a second and left the third intact. Court of Appeals upheld the dismissal 4/30/08. Claims settled in 9/08. Two women received $400K total. Other accusers have come forward. Suit filed in Winona MN in 4/16 alleging sexual abuse by Kenan of two minors 1958-61.

Fr. Edward M. Keohan

Accused of fondling a teenage boy at St. Rose of Lima in Chelsea MA. Archdiocese did not place him on leave until 8/03 because it said the lawsuit did not contain enough information to justify removal. Accuser received a six-figure settlement; Keohan was exonerated by the review board and returned to active status in 3/05. Per the 8/11 Boston archdiocese's list, Keohan was retired with no restrictions. He died 9/12/15.

Fr. Daniel C. Keohane

A woman alleged in a lawsuit that her father abused her and she acquired multiple personality disorder, and that she was molested by Keohane 1967-70 when she sought counseling from him. She claimed repressed memory until 1987. Suit dismissed on SOL by US District Court in Tulsa; she appealed. The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in 2/92 that her diagnosis did not stop the SOL because she knew she had psychological problems but still graduated from college with honors and ran own business for years. Keohane died in 1/99.

On 1/12/13, the Order announced Keppel had been removed after it had received (in summer 2012) an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a teenage boy in the diocese in the late 1970s. The boy was not a member of either Our Lady of the Lake or St. Anne's in the Mountains where Keppel was assigned for many years. Diocese investigated and both diocese and order found reasonable cause to believe that the behavior did occur. Was to be referred to Vatican. On diocese's list 10/9/18. On Mobile archdiocese's list 12/6/18. It notes "misconduct" occurred 1977-81, doesn't say where. Worked at some point at Resurrection parish in Montgomery. On the Stockton diocese's 11/12/20 list, noting he was a visiting priest at Mammoth Lakes during Lent 2012. Sentenced in 2012 by the Vatican to a life of prayer and penance.

Listed as having died in 2011; diocesan list includes deceased priests only if they have more than one allegation. Listed in 1988 Official Catholic Directory as working at St. Bridget's in Bergen NY. In 4/18 a 68-year-old man alleged publicly that Keppeler abused him and other boys at Notre Dame High School, where the priest was Dean of Boys. Accused in a lawsuit filed 8/14/19 of molesting a 14-year-old at All Saints in Buffalo in 1957. Another 8/14/19 suit claims Kepeller sexually abused a 16-year-old Notre Dame High School student in 1972. Accused in a 7/21 lawsuit of sexually abusing a boy, ages 10-15, during 1985-90 while assigned to St. Brigid. The plaintiff also alleged that Auxiliary Bishop Grosz groped him repeatedly in 1990 after his confirmation ceremony at the parish, and that Grosz commented to Keppeler that he was right about the boy's good looks.

First named publicly as accused in the 8/14/18 PA Grand Jury Report. Regional director for three CYO groups, chaplain for Appalachian Trail Scouting Council. In 1985-86 parishioners wrote to Bishop Welsh with concerns about Kerestus' close and inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old boy. In 10/92 an 18-year-old male told the diocese that Kerestus sexually abused him for five years. Assessed by St. John Vianney Center in 2005 to be in the "moderate-high range" for "sexual re-offense." A third man reported in 4/16 that Kerestus abused him 1975-80 when the man was a 15-year-old Holy Name High School student in West Reading. Removed 2002, given retirement status. Died in 2014. A 7/20 lawsuit claims abuse of a boy, ages 11-18, in the 1970s-early '80s. At least one settlement.

Fr. Jerome C. Kern

Kern abused a boy in 1977 in a seminary swimming pool. In 1993 the victim went to the the vicar general and learned that archdiocese had a file on Kern dating back to 1969, when he was accused of grabbing the genitals of two boys. Kern was transferred after the boys' mothers complained. The man filed a lawsuit which later settled. Other accusers known. Kern was supposed to never to work in another parish, but he was an active parish priest until 2002 when he took medical disability leave. Sued in 11/13. In a 4/14 deposition, Kern denied that his actions constituted abuse but that it consisted of nonsexual horseplay, hugging and wrestling. Also said that the archdiocese never warned him he could go to jail for his actions and never disciplined him. Included on the archdiocese's list of credibly accused.

Allegedly Kerr (a teacher) fondled him once in 1980 or 1981 and Huff raped him several times in the early 1980s. Kerr was working in the Cincinnati archdiocese in the late 1980s. He left the priesthood in the early 1990s. In 1997 he was was living in Houston, TX. He died in 4/18. Included on the Franciscans' St. John the Baptist Province list of those with substantiated allegations against them. Added to the Gallup diocese's list of credibly accused in 11/21. Included in 2/22 on the Cincinnati archdiocese's list.

Bro. Ricardo/Richard. Joined the Xaverians in 1932. Accused in a 9/22/94 demand letter of sexually abusing a student who had been injured during hazing at St. John's Prep, where Bro. Ricardo was Headmaster. Alleged to have orally sodomized the boy in the school infirmary. Previously worked at a HS in the Worcester diocese, and was later an education official at the US Catholic Conference in the Washington archdiocese. Also worked in Boston as a family counselor. Died 9/19/97. Omitted from the 2011 Boston AD database. Included on the order's list 7/12/19. It notes allegations reported in 1994 and later of abuse in Danvers, MA in the mid-late 1960s. Died in 1997.

Visiting priest from Kenya. Kiarie (also spelled Kiare in some news reports) was arrested in 6/02 on charges of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy during an outing at a park. Kiarie was in New York on a speaking tour to raise money for Kenya churches. The boy told his mom Kiarie molested him; she told church officials, who told DA. In 8/02 Kiarie rejected a plea bargain that would have given him 90 days in jail, and demanded a trial. Jury found him not guilty in 4/03. Kiarie said he would return to Kenya immediately.

Monsignor. Several complaints in 1950s -1960s. Nothing done. Nicknamed "The Feeler" for molesting girls during religion class. In 1969 faculty and parents at St. Francis de Sales in Parma held a meeting about allegations against Kickel.The pastor barred Kickel from hearing confessions and teaching religion classes, and told parents to keep quiet or they would be guilty of a mortal sin and go to hell. One woman was denied counseling in 2000 because the diocese said it could not find facts to support her claim. After a 2002 news report, almost a dozen women called the news outlet to say they too had been abused by Kickel. He died in 12/72. Included on the diocese's list 6/21/19.

Long history of sexually abusing boys and girls. Convicted in 1978 of lewd conduct for tying up and sexually abusing two boys; sentenced to three years probation. Left the priesthood in 1981. Laicized in 1987. Volunteer youth minister in the mid-1980s at St. Joseph's in Pinole. Arrested in 2002 on 13 counts of child molestation; all but two dropped in 2003 due to the statute of limitations. Sentenced in 2004 to six years in prison for abuse of a girl in 1995. May have abused at least ten girls. Kiesle said that if girls said abuse happened then he was sure it did. Released in 2009. Civil suits filed. Registered sex offender, living in Walnut Creek, CA. Two more suits with seven accusers in 8/10. Accused in a 10/18 suit against the Vatican of abuse 1972-74 of a girl, ages 11-13. On diocese's list in 2019. Lawsuit in 12/19 alleges abuse of boy, age 10-11, in the 1970s. Suit filed 3/2/20 claimed abuse a of 5-year-old boy for over a year in Pinole in 1985. Accused in two 2/21 suits, of abuse of a girl in one and a boy in the other, 1972-75, in Pinole. A lawsuit filed against the diocese in 1/22 claims abuse 1972-75 of a young boy in Pinole. Kiesle would give the boy wine, then molest him. The victim's adult children filed the lawsuit; their father had filed suit in 3/20, but he died a few days later of cirrhosis and the suit was dismissed. Arrested in 4/22, charged with killing a pedestrian while driving drunk.

Fr. James G. Kiffmeyer

In 2002 a man accused Kiffmeyer of abusing him when he was senior in high school and later. County prosecutors said the statute of limitations had expired. The church said the man was over 18 at the time in question. After this allegation was made, it was revealed that Kiffmeyer had been accused in 1997 of a similar offense, again by a male who was at least 18. Archdiocese paid to settle the claim. Vatican ordered Kiffmeyer returned to ministry as of 12/06. Appointed as pastoral administrator of Holy Family Parish 4/30/08. Remained in active ministry until 7/12 when he requested personal leave. He told Bishop Schnurr that he did not intend to return to ministry.

Assisted and pastored a number of parishes. Sent to supervised setting for evaluation and risk assessment. No criminal charges due to 5-year statute of limitations. Laicization announced 3/16. Moved out of New York state. Settlements with alleged victims 5/17 and 10/17 as part of archdiocese's compensation program. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19.

Fr. Stephen M. Kilcarr

In 2020 a man received a settlement from the Archdiocese through its IVCP, for claims that Kilcarr sexually abused him as a boy, ages 13-15, dozens of times in the rectory of St. Joseph's in West Orange in the 1960s. Accused in a press conference held by Attorney Mitchell Garabedian on 8/7/2019 of sexually abusing a second boy. Kilcarr moved to Seton Hall Prep in 1968, where he had close access to thousands of young boys for multiple decades. He died 6/22/2017.


Fr. John M. Kilcullen

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 9/93 of abusing a girl, ages 6-7, in 1954 and 1955. The girl was a student at Most Sacred Heart Elementary School during the time of the alleged abuse. Kilcullen was a frequent guest at the girl's aunt's home, where the abuse allegedly occurred. Per the complaint, on one occasion, when Kilcullen was babysitting the girl, he got into the bathtub while she was in it, had "intercourse" with her, then prayed with her and asked for her forgiveness. A year later Kilcullen allegedly grabbed her arm when she was leaving the bathroom, and another time said to her, "once a slut, always a slut." Another (unknown) priest was also accused in the complaint of sexually abusing the girl when she was ages 6-14. The lawsuit was dismissed in 1994. Kilcullen died 12/13/98.

Kilgour was reportedly the boy's teacher and counselor at Our Lady of the Lake in Mandeville. Also accused were Revs. Vince Feehan. Kilgour was placed on leave in 1987. The accusation came after her death. Order said it found nothing to substantiate the claims.

In 2002 a woman reported to the archdiocese that she was sexually abused as a child in the 1950s by Killian, at St. Richard's in South Philadelphia. He allegedly would have her change from her school uniform into a ballerina outfit from his closet, then have her lie on bed while he molested her. She told her mom who spoke with someone, then said she would not have to go to rectory again. Killian remained in his position. The older brother of a classmate confirmed the story about Killian and the "costume closet." Killian died in 1965. Named in a 2006 civil suit.

All claims with the diocese settled in 2/11. Two men settled with the Oblates in 2/11 for $700K each. Name released as part of 8/11 Oblate $24.8M settlement with 40 individuals.

Fr. Donald Wren Kimball

Had been performing limited ministry prior to his suspension. No criminal charges because of statute of limitations. Also worked in PA and FL. Vatican ordered church trial in 2004. Kinane sued the archbishop in 2005 for defamation; suit dismissed in 2010. On New Orleans archdiocese's list 11/2/18. It noted accusation first received in 1993 of abuse in the 1970s and 1980s. On Houma-Thibodaux diocese's list 1/11/19. (Houma-Thibodaux was created 1977; it had been part of New Orleans archdiocese.) On 3/9/20 we received an anonymous report that Kinane died in FL. Per obit, Kinane was from Conway, AK and died in Safety Harbor FL 3/2/20, age 74.

King was born and educated in Ireland and was first assigned in 1923 to Immaculate Conception in Buhl ID. Among other assignments, he was pastor of St Anthony's in Pocatello 1928-1939 and pastor of St Rita's in Kellogg 1950-1970, after which he retired. Died 9/22/73 in Ireland.

Two plaintiffs had previously settled with the diocese in 1994. Judge dismissed portion of suit invovling two who had previously settled but allowed two new plaintiffs' case to go forward. Kirsch allegedly sexually abused a girl at St. Thomas Apostle in Abiquiu NM beginning when she was age 15 in 1973-77, leading to pregnancy and an abortion. She filed a civil suit in 1991. He admitted sex but said she was 19 by then. Suit dismissed in 1993 on SOL; dismissal upheld by NM Court of Appeals. Died 11/3/05. Included on Santa Fe archdiocese list of accused 9/12/17. On Las Cruces diocese's list 6/24/19, where he worked 1965-67.

Worked at St. Gregory the Great High School in the 1960s. Board determined conduct was not sexual abuse but was inappropriate. Died in 2020.

Police found 700 photos in his residence, including children in bondage. He was without assignment at the time of his arrest, working as a fill-in. Pled not guilty in 12/87. Found guilty 12/18/87. Named in at least four civil suits. Died 2/16/00. New suit filed 12/09/13 claimed abuse in the early 1970s. Named on the diocese's list of accused priests 12/31/13. Jury trial related to civil case filed in 2013 to begin in 8/16.

Accused in a claim settled in 2020 in the low six figures of sexually abusing a boy, ages 14-16, in 1968-70, while assigned to the Aquinas Institute in Rochester. The abuse allegedly occurred at least three times, at Klem's residence, at a house around Greece, NY and on a trip to Quebec, Canada. Klem was at the Institute 1958-84. Transferred to the Basilian Mission Center in Sugar Land, TX in the late 1980s. Retired in 2013, living at the Dillon House in Houston through at least 2019. He died in 1/21.

This claimant was also included in the settlement. Kleman died 3/9/74.

On 1/03/14 the Diocese of St. Cloud released the names of 33 clergy, including Klimek, accused of the sexual abuse of minors. No information on the parish where the abuse occurred or when it occurred. Klimek held many positions within the Diocese, including Spiritual Director of Cathedral High School and Director of Catholic Charities. He died 8/7/94. Included in 10/22 on the Chicago archdiocese's list, where he had worked briefly in the late 1940s as an extern priest.

In 2014 fellow Marianist Bro. Bernard Hartman was facing trial in Australia on child abuse allegations when a man came forward to allege abuse while he was a student at North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. After the Pittsburgh Diocese sought information on other possible victims, allegations were made against seven other brothers, including at least one against Kline. Kline was at North Catholic 1940-1947. Also worked in OH, DC and Puerto Rico. He died in 12/1997. Head of Marianist Order apologized in writing to the diocese and students.

Sent in about 1966 to St. Vincent Hospital in St. Louis, then to Servants of the Paraclete in Jemez Springs NM for treatment. Allowed ministry in the diocese (Santa Fe). A man from OR filed claim in 2013 in NM alleging abuse at age 7 or 8 by Klister at St. Vincent de Paul parish in Maxwell in the early to mid-1980s. Settled in 4/14. Klister was convicted in 1990 on child pornography charges. Named in civil suit filed in El Paso in 1995. Died 4/19/97. Included on Santa Fe archdiocese list of accused on 9/12/17. On Las Cruces diocese's list 11/8/18. On El Paso's list 1/31/19. On the Superior diocese's list in 11/22, which notes he was a priest of the diocese until incardinated in 1984 in the Diocese of Santa Fe.

In 2002 removed by superior from assignment in CO. Stayed at Order's headquarters until 2004 when he moved to Nairobi. Worked there until his death in 2007.

Placed on leave in 6/02 after an allegation that he had abused a boy, age 13, 27 years prior. Placed on leave pending investigation by Review Board. A second man came forward in 8/02, alleging the priest abused him at age 16 in 1968. Klubertanz denied all allegations. In 1/03 a third man filed suit alleging he was abused as a boy by Klubertanz in 1969-70 on weekend trips to a cabin. The Diocese denied that it knew of any allegations against Klubertanz before 2002. Found guilty by Church trial per 6/07 news release. Sentenced to life of prayer and penance.

In 3/2021 a woman joined a lawsuit filed in 12/2020 against the Diocese of Tucson, the Archdiocese of L.A. and St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, CA, claiming Knapp sexually abusing her when she was age 5, in the 1970s. She said Knapp was a guest in her family's home, and that the abuse occurred in her bedroom under the guise of play while her parents were preparing dinner. She had come forward to the diocese in 6/2019; Knapp was suspended. The Diocesan Review Board reportedly determined that the allegations could not be "reasonably substantiated" and recommended Knapp be returned to public ministry. The woman said Knapp also abused her best friend at the time, under similar circumstances.

Knapp's name appeared on Baltimore's 9/2002 list of priests, religious priests and brothers accused of sexual misconduct. The Archdiocese learned from the Redemptorists in early 1993 that an individual alleged sexual abuse by Knapp about 20 years prior. Knapp was associate pastor at St. Mary in Annapolis 1973 -1981. Assigned 1981-1983 to a parish in the Toledo diocese and to a Saratoga Springs NY parish 1983-1993. He left the priesthood in 1995 and was laicized in 2006. Added to the Toledo diocese's list in 2019. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report. It notes that the 1993 allegation was that Knapp sexually abused a girl, age 13, in 1975, and that other girls were also abused. Removed in 5/1993 from his Saratoga Springs NY parish after allegations of sexual misconduct with two women. Sent to his order in MD and was to undergo treatment. Alleged in 4/2002 to have sexually a teenage girl in the late 1970s during a service project trip with high-schoolers.

The Diocese acknowledged in 12/03 that there were credible accusations against Knecht. Seven plaintiffs filed civil suit(s) in 1/04 claiming abuse by Knecht at St. Mary's Catholic School in Chewelah. In 4/04, another man filed suit against the Diocese, alleging that he was abused by Knecht as a minor for about three years. Knecht worked in the Diocese from 1932 until he died in 1956 at age 56. He spent almost 20 years at Chewelah. One claim settled in 12/04. Others pending in 4/06.

Per news in 1968, Knelleken was leave for missionary work with the Maryknoll Missioners in South America. Placed on leave in 1988 after suspicions he was abusing children. Laicized in 1996. Died in 2003. Archdiocese said he was 1 of 49 priests included in a 2004 investigation. One claim settled in Seattle in 10/07 for $110K. A second claim settled in 8/09 for $350K. Included on the archdiocese's list 1/15/16 of clergy and religious with established, admitted or credible allegations against them of child sexual abuse. Fr. Marvin T. Knighton

Charged in 6/02 with sexual assault of a teenage boy more than 10 years prior. In 1993 the alleged victim's father complained to Knighton who went to the diocese and asked for investigation. Jury found him not guilty in 8/03 but Review Board later deemed allegations credible. In 4/04 Bishop asked Vatican to laicize him. Two other allegations were made against Knighton. Laicized in 2011. Claimed Milwaukee owed him about $450K in past wages and benefits. Personnel files released 7/1/13. Worked in AZ schools for almost 20 years.

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/19 of sexually assaulting a Jesuit College Prep of Dallas student, where Koch was principal 1972-79, president 1979-80 and alumni director 1980-86. Another suit, filed in 9/19, claims abuse by Koch of a 15-year-old Jesuit Prep sophomore around 1980. In 10/19 another Dallas Prep alumnus sued, alleging abuse by Koch during confession in the early 1980s. The same man also claimed abuse by Prep teacher and wrestling coach, Rev. Peter Callery, SJ. Koch's name was added in 12/21 to the Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province list of credibly accused. Named in a lawsuit settled in 3/22 filed by multiple plaintiffs regarding multiple priests who allegedly abused in the late 1970s and early 1980s at Jesuit College Prep of Dallas.

Removed from St Catherine of Siena in Mount Union 8/12 and placed on leave after allegations of sexual misconduct with minors in Cambria County in late 1970s. By 8/25/12, several other accusers had approached the diocese. DA's office turned the investigation over to the AG's office 11/12. Per the AG's 3/1/16 Grand Jury Report, Koharchik "is certainly a child predator." He admitted to the GJ in 3/15 to molesting "close to" 12 children. He would grope young boys while driving and playing Bill Cosby tapes which featured the word "penis." He had young boys sleep, shower and wrestle with him, and sit on his lap. He would pat their buttocks. Koharchik served on the Presbytery Council during the trial of admitted child molester, Rev. Francis Luddy. Defrocked 1/22/16.

Head of the Order's St. Anthony of Padua Province 2001-2010, responsible for creating a system to prevent child sexual abuse in the Province and for addressing allegations against member of the Order.  In 11/2013 a former student at Archbishop Curley High in Baltimore alleged that Kolodziej sexually abused him on several occasions 1975-1979 while "wrestling." Suspended by order from public ministry; archdiocese removed his faculties. Police were investigating. On Atlanta archdiocese's list 11/6/2018. On Buffalo diocese's list updated 11/5/2018. On Baltimore's list 9/5/2019. Accused in two lawsuits filed in 2019 under the NY Child Victims Act of molesting boys at Cardinal O'Hara High School in Tonawanda NY, both in 1982-1983.  Kolidziej was the school's principal and a teacher. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report. It details allegations of abuse by Kolodziej of six former students of Cardinal O'Hara High School in Buffalo NY, St. Francis High School in Athol Springs NY and Curley High School in Baltimore MD. A Curley High victim received a $50K settlement.

Pled guilty in 3/14 to criminal sexual misconduct. On Diocese's 12/16/13 list. Sentenced to 25 years probation 3/31/14 but was to be deported to India instead. Deported and handed over to Indian authorities 5/14/14. Diocese's information on Koppala was updated 6/23/14.

Kostelnick denied abuse. Sent for evaluation.

Fr. William Kovach

Accused in 1982 of molesting a boy, showing him porno movies, fondling and performing oral sex on him. Admitted the abuse to Bishop Hogan; kept in ministry, not to have contact with children. Kovach nonetheless was assigned to a parish with no enforced restrictions, even teaching children. He was evaluated in1988 but ministry was not limited until 2001. He was identified in 2/03 as one of 9 "predator" priests known to the diocese per lawsuits filed by 5 individuals against 2 other priests. The PA Attorney General's 3/1//16 Grand Jury report concluded that "Kovach was a child predator who had been enabled by the Diocese," citing Bishops Hogan and Adamec as keeping Kovach's secrets. Police were never notified.

Accused in a lawsuit filed by a man 5/24/21 under the NY Child Victims Act of encouraging him 1994-98 as an elementary school boy to engage in sexual acts with four girls "provided" by Kowalczyk and two other priests, Revs. Gregory Dobson and Mieczyslaw "Matt" Nycz. Per the suit, the man feared the priests secretly filmed them. He was a student at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Orchard park. Kowalczyk was pastor of the parish when placed on leave due to the allegations. The three priests denied "ever committing any acts of abuse." Kowalczyk, Dobson and Nycz were reinstated in 10/21 after the Diocese's review board determined that the allegations against them were unsubstantiated.

Associate pastor at a United Methodist church in the mid-1980s and Protestant chaplain at Syracuse U. in the late 1980s. Became an Episcopalian priest in 1990. Moved to CA. Rector of a church and school in L.A. 2005-13. Active Episcopal priest at a Palm Springs parish in 7/19. Included in 1/22 on the Buffalo diocese's list of credibly accused.

Fr. Raymond F. Kownacki

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 3/1995 of abuse and rape of a teenage girl over several years, beginning in 1970. The girl was hired in 1971 as Kownacki's housekeeper and moved into his rectory. Per the suit, when she told Kownacki in 1973 that she had sex with a boy she was dating, he held a knife to her throat, forced her at gunpoint to drive him around, then raped her. She later found she was pregnant; Kownacki made her drink something to induce abortion, then squeezed her uterus with his hand. She passed out and woke up in a pool of blood, and lost the fetus. The woman said that she and her parents reported the abuse in 1973 to Bishop Albert Zuroweste. Kownacki was kept in ministry; permanently removed in 11/1995. The suit was dismissed due to the statute of limitations. Two men filed suits in 2002 and 2003 claiming abuse in the 1970s. Jury award of $5M to 2002 plaintiff in 8/2008 trial. Decision appealed. Diocese paid $6.33M (with interest) in 8/2011. The 2003 suit settled in 10/2009 for $1.2M. Two men sued in 4/2009. Two suits settled in 3/2012. New suits in 10/2011 and 8/2012. Laicized 1/11/2013. On diocese's list 12/19/2018. Per the list updated in 9/2022, Kownacki died 8/19/2022.

Personnel file notes in 1989 indicate an "affair" with a teenage boy and that Krach should be closely supervised with no youth ministry or contact with altar boys. Notes in 1990 show "questionable activities and relationships with teenagers or young adults" in each assignment. Sent for evaluation at Downington PA, then treatment at St. John Viannney in 1/1991 and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital. Retired early in 12/1991. Suit names St. Cloud Diocese and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Archdiocese denied it was responsible because Diocese was an independent entity. Living at Monastery in Altoona in 1995. Died 7/14/97 in PA. Name included on St. Cloud's 1/3/14 list. It gave no information as to where or when the abuse occurred. It did show he was the local superior of St. Louis Monastery in St. Cloud and was at Cathedral High School. On the St. Paul and Minneapolis list in 10/14. Included on Harrisburg PA diocese list 8/1/18. On Wheeling-Charleston diocese's list late 2018; there 9/91-4/92.

Fr. Roman Kramek

Visiting priest from Warsaw, Poland. Arrested 12/02 for allegedly sexually abusing a 17- year-old girl who had gone to him for counseling after she had been assaulted by other individuals. Plea agreement in 2004 led to sentence of 9 months in jail and 10 years probation. Returned to Poland upon his release in 2005.

Giswalda Kramer

Began teaching in Nebraska and was sent in 1933 with 5 other nuns to teach at the St Labre Mission on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana. In 1936 she was sent as superior and principal of St Paul's Mission School on the Fort Belknap Reservation. She brought the grammar school up to state standard and founded St Paul's Mission High School. Adopted into the Gros Ventre tribe in 1951, given the name Pipe Woman. Earned Masters of Education from Montana State University in 1955. Principal of the Year in 1987 (1 of 20 in the US). Died 11/27/1988.

Accused in a 2/08 civil suit of,abusing a male student at O'Gorman High School in 1970, where he was a typing teacher. The student immediately complained to another priest. The diocese conducted an investigation in 2005 and found no reason Krantz could not continue to work. Settled at mediation in 6/09.

Found by Great Falls police on 10/26/18 to have a large amount of child porn on his computer. Some images were of children as young as ages two or three years. Pled guilty in 4/19 to one count of receipt of child pornography. Sentenced in 10/9 to five years in prison, then five years supervised release.

In 2002 a man filed suit alleging abuse by Krautkremer at age 10 in 1977, and that the Archdiocese had gone back on its 1983 verbal agreement that the priest would be placed where he could not abuse children. Krautkremer was assigned to at least two more parishes. In 1989 he was assigned as a hospital chaplain, where he remained until he was permanently removed in 2002. The Archdiocese paid $20K of Krautkremer's personal loans in 2003. Civil suit dismissed on SOL in 2004; plaintiff appealed. Laicized in 2006. Died 6/15/17.

Fr. Henry R. Krawczyk

Reprimanded in 1986 for providing alcohol and marijuana to minors and for making sexual advances toward minors and an an 18-year-old male. Reprimanded in 1992 for giving beer to a minor. Diocese found the complaints unsubstantiated but credible. In 2003 an inebriated 19-year-old University of Pittsburgh football player fell to his death from the attic of Krawczyk's church. Krawczyk was charged with providing alcohol. Pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in 9/2006; received 7 years probation. Civil suit settled in 1/2006. In 11/2006 the diocese received a report from two brothers that Krawczyk had sexually abused their younger brother after plying him with marijuana and alcohol. The alleged victim died by suicide in 8/2006. Krawczyk was named in the 8/14/1208 PA Grand Jury Report and included on the diocese's list of credibly accused.
