Joined his Order in 1952. Named publicly as accused in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report. Accused in 8/2018 of sexually abusing a male Calvert Hall College High Student in the late 1970s. Morgan was Dean of Discipline at the school and later taught typing. The boy was a swim team member and said Morgan would make the boys swim naked, and that Morgan grabbed and fondled his genitals. Another former student said in 2019 that Morgan would watch the students strip down for swim class. A former teacher said Morgan would swim naked with the boys, and that he would throw typewriters at students during typing class.

Named publicly as accused by the St. John the Baptist Franciscans on its list 6/18/2022 of those with substantiated allegations. No information as to when and where the abuse occurred, so we are placing him in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, where the Province is based. He died in 1992. Per his obituary, Malloy joined the Franciscans in 1938 and made his solemn vows in 1948. He worked in Southfield MI, Louisville KY, and in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati OH.

A/k/a Joseph. Named publicly as accused in 4/22 by Attorney Mitchell Garabedian. Accused in a lawsuit that settled of sexually abusing a girl, ages 13-14, in 1977-79. McBarron was assigned to St. Mary's in Newark NJ during the time in question. He died in 1987.

Named publicly in 4/2019 by Franciscan University of Steubenville as credibly accused, after the University's review of cases of unwanted sexual advances against students by clergy since the late 1960s. Mulkern died in 2016.

Monsignor. Retired in 2001. Suspended in 2002 after an allegation he abused an altar boy 1988-90 at St. Mary's in Hollidaysburg. Mabon denied the charges. Sued 2003. Criminal charges dismissed due to SOL. Sent by Bishop Adamec to treatment, then allowed to resume ministry in 11/03. Civil suit continued. In 5/04 the diocese paid $3.71M to settle claims by 21 people alleging abuse by 11 priests, including Mabon. In 2005 a woman reported sexual abuse by Mahon at St. Mary's when she was a girl. Per the AG's 3/1/16 Grand Jury Report Mabon told the girl, "if you tell, everyone would believe you instigated it and that's your fault." The Grand Jury called Mabon a "predator" and found that Bishops Hogan and Adamec failed the children.

Left active priesthood in 1995 with a clean record. Arrested in Lumberton NJ 4/08 by the FBI after they found child pornography on his personal computer. He had been identified as a participant in an internet chat room. Working at the time of his arrest as a teacher and coach at a Burlington County middle school; suspended without pay. Released on house arrest with monitoring. Sentenced in 6/09 to 57 months in federal prison. Projected release date was 8/13.

Accused in a 5/2003 lawsuit of sexually abusing a girl 1965-1970, beginning when she was age 10 and a patient at a WI hospital where MacArthur was chaplain. Arrested in 1/2006; charged with abuse of 3 girls at Beaver Dam hospital in the 1960s in WI. Admitted abusing 30 girls. The Sioux Falls diocese knew of his behavior in 1963 and sent him to Via Coeli in NM for treatment. Reassigned. After WI, MacArthur worked in the San Angelo and El Paso TX dioceses. Arrested and convicted in El Paso in 1978 for abuse of a nursing home patient. Records unclear as to whether he served time in prison or was in inpatient treatment before release on probation. Worked in the San Antonio archdiocese 1979-1984. Suits filed in 7/2007 and 9/2007 in WI against Milwaukee and Sioux Falls by two women. Convicted. Sentenced in 8/2008 in WI to 6 months in jail and 10 years probation and to serve an additional month every year for 6 years. Living in TX when he died 2/22/2012. The San Antonio archdiocese announced in 6/2014 a credible allegation of abuse of a girl in the late 1970s. On the Sioux Falls diocese's list 3/21/2019. It notes faculties removed in 4/1992. On San Antonio's list 1/31/2019. Named by the Gallup diocese in 12/2014; volunteered at Gallup shelters in 2003.

From Northern Ireland, where he was ordained in 1923 then sent to the U.S. Worked at St Columban's in NE 1923-24 and St. Columban's in Silver Creek NY 1924-30. He then returned to Ireland on sick leave 1930-38. While there he worked in parishes and as a chaplain. Sent back to the U.S. in 1938. Known to have worked in CA, NY and Silver Creek NY, where he died in 1977. Named publicly as credibly accused by the Columbans U.S. Province on its list in 2/22 (name spelled "McCourt.") A single allegation is noted, of abuse in 1940. Per the Official Catholic Directory, MacCourt was assigned in 1940 to St. Columban's in San Diego CA.

Accused of fondling a 12-year-old boy in Fall 1991. In 1/93 the boy's parents met with Mach and in 3/93 with the diocesan chancellor. Civil suit filed 1993 when the diocese failed to pay for counseling. Placed on leave 12/93. Also accused, along with Fr. John Aurelio, of abuse of three others. Civil suit settled confidentially in 1998. Mach lived in FL without privileges. Died 2/17/04. Included on 3/20/18 diocesan list. Named in 4/30/19 suit. A suit 8/19 claims abuse of a 7-year-old at St. Gerard's in 1974. By 8/21 there were 21 lawsuits filed under the NY Child Victims Act with accusations against Mach.

From Mexico. Rejected by multiple seminaries, ordained by his uncle. Founder of the Legionaries of Christ in 1941. Called the "most brilliant fundraiser in the modern church." By 1997 the Legion had seminarians - as young as age 10 - in 18 countries. Maciel sexually abused young boys throughout his career and fathered at least three children with two women. Nine men came forward publicly in 1997 to allege abuse as young boys when they were seminarians. Maciel was suspended from Legion leadership by Pope Pius XII in 1956 reportedly due to accusations of drug abuse and abuse of boys in Mexico. Reinstated in 1958. Pope John Paul II ignored reports of his abuse and, in fact, celebrated Maciel. Removed by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006, given life of prayer and penitence in Jacksonville FL. Died 1/30/2008, age 87. By 2019 all but three of the men who had come forward accepted settlements from the Legionaries. The three called on the order to retract its "lies" about them to the media and called their low five figures offer a "humiliation."

Removed from minstry in 1987. Died in 3/1994. Accused in a civil suit filed in 10/1994 of sexually abusing a youth in 1987. Name included on a list of credibly accused priests released by Bishop Saltarelli on 11/16/2006. A woman filed a civil suit in 8/2008 alleging abuse in 1966 when she was 13. The suit also alleges that there were nine other victims, including two minor males. A man filed a separate suit in 8/2008, claiming abuse in 1970. Two suits were filed in 9/2008. Personnel files released in 2/2012.

Added to the Norbertine's list in 4/21 of those with substantiated allegations of the sexual abuse of minors. Per the Order, it received report(s) in late 2020 or early 2021 that Mackin abused minors in the 1980s. Mackin was on faculty at St. Norbert High School and Abbot Pennings High School, was St. Norbert College parish pastor, then was abbot of St. Norbert Abbey in De Pere 1982-94. He died 12/20/05.

In Summer 2021 the Diocese of Cheyenne informed parishioners that Macklin,age 85, had been credibly accused of abusing a minor in the Diocese of Corpus Christi and was restricted from public ministry. Macklin worked in the Cheyenne diocese 2004-2015. He was ordained late in life, in 1995. The bio for a book of stories and poems he authored describes Eckley as "an African American folk singer....public radio host...park ranger...priest...college missionary to the American Indians in Wyoming."

In 2003 two women settled claims with the Covington diocese over allegations that MacPherson molested them in the 1960s at St. Patrick's in Maysville. The diocese paid a total of $750K to the two women and to a man who alleged abuse by Fr. Earl Bierman. Both women were part of a class action suit filed against the Diocese of Covington. MacPherson left active ministry in 1978 and was laicized 1/20/1984. Included on the diocese's list 7/31/2020 of those with substantiated allegation(s).

Removed in 2/1994 from position as pastor of St. Martin of Tours in Washington Park after allegations of sexual misconduct with a boy in his early teens "more than 20 years ago." In 1/1995 the Diocesan review board permanently removed him from active ministry and he retired. On 1/24/2009 the diocesan website gave his status as "Administrative Leave/Retired." Died 7/16/2011. On diocese's list 12/19/2018. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes four "reported survivors."

Psychological problems during seminary in 1978. Pleaded guilty in 1988 to paying boy for sex. Received one year in jail, deferred, and sent for treatment. May have abused in 1983 but no action. Charged in 1993 with 11 counts of molestation of at least four boys. Convicted in 1994 for assault of a boy. Sentenced to 33 1/2 to 67 years. Civil suits filed. [See Major Account for much information and related documents.] Multiple appeals. Still in prison in 2/14, continuing to deny guilt. Federal appeal case filed in 2/14.

Died 3/26/75. Accused of abuse of a minor in about 1959, per 2004 archdiocesan report. Civil suit filed 12/03.

First named publicly as accused in the 8/14/18 PA Grand Jury Report. Madaj's file contained two anonymous letters to Fr. McHugh in 12/52 alleging Madaj was having an affair with his housekeeper. In 3/90 the parents of a male 19-year-old told the diocese that Madaj had sexually abused their son at age 9 or 10. Madaj denied the allegation. Died 1998. On diocese's list 8/19/18.

Arrested in 1993. Convicted in 1994 for the sexual assault of two boys. Sentenced to 20 years. Sued. Included in a 10/2003 settlement. Second suit in 5/2006. At least one claim included in a 5/2007 $6.65M settlement with 14 people claiming abuse by 12 priests. One claim included in an 8/2008 $12.7M settlement involving 11 priests and 16 plaintiffs. Laicized in 12/2007. New settlement in 7/2009. Spent 9 months in a secure treatment facility in WI, as a violent sexual predator; released in 8/2013. Registered sex offender. Personnel file released in 1/2014. New suit in 1/2014. Last known to be living in WI. Died in 3/2019. New suit in 9/2016 claimed abuse over two years starting in 1979 of a boy, age 10. Settlement in 6/2021 with two men alleging abuse beginning age 10 at St. Bede's on the South Side. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes 72 "reported survivors."

Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 2/13/2019. Died 2/28/1999.

From Ireland. Ordained for the Diocese of Jackson, MS. Accused in 1993 of abuse, including rape, of 13-year-old boy on a trip to Ireland in 1973. Plaintiff settled for $50K. In a separate 2002 lawsuit plaintiff alleged church lied, telling him there was no previous knowledge of abuse by priests. Attached to the petition was a letter signed by a Paul Madden who said he "feels remorse and guilt for the molestation." Judge ruled in favor of the defense in in 9/2003 and the case was dismissed. Faculties in Jackson were suspended in 7/2002. Madden was 'on duty outside the diocese' in the Diocese of Saltillo, Mexico 1977-1979. Worked as a missionary of the Society of St. James the Apostle in Peru 1991-1993 and 1994-2002. Incardinated into the Chimbota diocese in Peru in 2003, despite warnings to the diocese by Diocese of Jackson officials. Still active there in 8/2015. Retired and living in Peru in 3/2019. Included on the Jackson diocese's list of credibly accused 3/19/2019.

Alleged to have molested at least six boys in the 1960s and 1970s. Confronted by parents in the mid-1970s; agreed to seek treatment. Admitted abuse of a 14-year-old boy in the 1980s at a Crosier minor seminary in MN. The Crosiers reached a monetary settlement with the victim when he came forward in 1988. Madigan was sent for treatment. At least one claim was included in a 2/2009 settlement with the Crosiers and nine accusers in MN. Retired and living under safety plan in Phoenix in 3/2014. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Full name Jose Alfonso Madrid. From the Jesuit Province of Mexico. Died in 1982. Accused in a 6/2011 civil suit of abuse of an altar boy, ages 8-10, in the 1970s at at Sacred Heart in El Paso, TX. Madrid allegedly "mentored" the boy before molesting him on multiple occasions. Diocese denied any prior complaints against him. Suit settled at mediation in 7/2013. Another man filed suit in 8/2013 for abuse at age 8 at the same parish 1974-1975. On the Jesuits Central and Southern Province list 12/17/2018. On El Paso diocese's and San Antonio archdiocese's lists 1/31/2019. In San Antonio 1966-1970. Reported there in 1968 to have had "inappropriate contact" with a 9-year-old boy. Five additional accusers 2014-2019 alleged abuse in the late 1960s. Worked in New Orleans, LA in 1960-1961.

Accused of abuse of a boy for two years, 1971-72 in rectory, car and elsewhere. Civil suit filed in 1992 said diocese knew in 1967 that other priests in diocese were pedophiles and failed to report. Madrid admitted charges. Boy pled delayed discovery in suit. Litigation settled with non-disclosure. One report says Madrid told El Paso Bishop Raymond Pena in 1992 that he had abused boy 20 years prior. Laicized 2007. Died 10/07. On diocese's list 1/31/19. Suit against diocese filed 2/19, alleging abuse, including rape, by Madrid of a 12-year-old St. Joseph's altar boy 1970-71.

Raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. Arrived in the U.S. at age 18. Ordained for the Diocese of Phoenix, AZ. A man filed suit in 6/2003 alleging that Madrid drugged and sexually assaulted him in 1987 when he was a minor. The suit says officials of the archdiocese used spiritual arguments and the victim's devout faith to keep him from filing a lawsuit or reporting the abuse when it occurred. Madrid was sent to the Servants of the Paraclete in Jemez Sprints, NM for treatment in 1988, then reassigned. Resigned in 2002. Civil suit settled in 2005.

From Italy. Arrived in the U.S. in 1952. Attorney Garabedian announced a settlement in 9/2013 on behalf of a plaintiff who alleged abuse by Maffei as a 12-year-old boy, when Maffei was assigned to Sacred Heart Retreat House in Ipswich, MA. The abuse allegedly took place at the Marian Shrine in New Rochelle, NY. Died 12/29/2009. Included on the Salesians list of credibly accused in 3/2020.

Magaldi left Providence in 1988 after claims of financial mismanagement. Accepted into the Ft. Worth diocese by Bishop Delaney in 1990. Pleaded guilty in 1992 to embezzlement in Rhode Island, returned to ministry in Ft. Worth after eight months. Allegation in Ft. Worth in 1997 by a young man that Magaldi would pay him to give him enemas. Still active until 1999, after an allegation that he raped a boy and paid the boy to give him enemas in the 1970s, while Magaldi was assigned in Rhode Island. The plaintiff died in 10/2000; suit dismissed. Retired. HIV positive. Laicization requested; died in 8/2008. Another claim settled 8/21/2012 in Ft. Worth. A lawsuit filed against  in 9/2019 claimed abuse of a boy, ages 12-17, in the late 1970s-early 1980s, while Magaldi was pastor of St. Anthony's in Providence. Suit dismissed, the judge ruling that church leadership cannot be labeled "perpetrators." The RI Supreme Court affirmed the ruling in 6/2023. The plaintiff also filed suit NY in 10/2020 claiming Magaldi sexually abused him during a trip to NYC in 1983. Dismissed.

Accused in a 4/03 civil suit of groping and rubbing against a 12-year-old boy in the early 1970s at St. Joseph's in Babylon. He was the boy's 6th grade homeroom teacher at the parish school. The abuse allegedly occurred in the classroom and in Magee's private school office. Died 8/27/93. (Name misspelled McGee in at least one news report.) Included in 3/21 on the Rockville Centre diocese's list of accused.

Retired in 1995. Placed on leave in 6/02 when a man claimed in a lawsuit against the Archdiocese that Magel exposed himself to a group of boys by preparing a meal in the nude while on a camping trip. The same plaintiff also alleged abuse by a parochial school teacher. Magel was returned to active (retired) status in 3/03 when Archbishop Kelly determined there was no evidence that he had abused children. Magel died 4/15/12.

Parish priest. Teacher/counselor/chaplain at five different high schools. In residence at one, principal of another. Tribunal member. In 2016 a woman received "acknowledgment of crimes" and financial assistance for counseling from the Archdiocese due to her claims of rape by Magnus and another priest, Joseph Maskell. Magnus was Keough High School's Religious Services Director, Maskell was chaplain. Both priests were counselors. Per the woman they raped her at a CYO picnic in 9/1970, when she was age 14 and a new Keough student. She said Magnus showed up in a police car and that the rape occurred after she was given a drink that weakened her. She said Maskell watched, then also raped her, and that his assaults continued through her high school years. She claimed, too, that on one occasion a Baltimore police officer joined Maskell and, after paying the priest, raped her. Magnus and Maskell have been accused by other former students. Both men have been implicated in the unsolved 1969 murder of Sr. Cathy Cesnik, to whom girls had confided abuse. Included on the archdiocese's list 12/14/2018. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report. It shows that the Archdiocese received a report from a woman in 1992 of sexual abuse by Magnus and Maskell over several years in the late 1960s, when she was a Keough student. The AG Report details abuse of 7 girls by Magnus, one as young as age 11. Several reported the presence of a police officer during some of the abuse, as well as rape by a police officer. One said the abuse by Magnus included rape with a crucifix. Another victim described Magnus as "sadistic and evil." There are indications in Magnus' personnel file that Archdiocesan officials new of problems with Magnus, yet kept him in ministry and appointed him as principal of high schools. Magnus died 11/27/1988.

A police investigation of allegations against Maguire in 1984 was suddenly dropped, without explanation. Removed from ministry in 1992. Medically retired in 1993 and moved to Florida. Jury awarded one plaintiff $262,803 in a 1995 trial that was sealed from the public. Sued in 1/2003 by a 21-year-old man who alleged assault when he was 15. Claims against Maguire were included in the 10/2005 $22M settlement between the Archdiocese and 45 people alleging abuse by 14 priests. Died 7/13/2008. Included on the Hartford Archdiocese's list 1/22/2019. On the Diocese of Norwich's list 2/22/2019.

Named publicly as credibly accused by the Fall River diocese on its list in 1/21. Maguire's faculties were removed, and he was laicized in 2007.

Accused in a lawsuit 11/5/2018 of abusing a boy, age 12, in 1955 at San Francisco church in Ranchos de Taos NM. Maguire was born 5/19/1898 in Lexington MA; trained at St Meinrad Seminary IN; ordained in Boston by Cardinal O'Connell on 5/25/1934. Reportedly taught at minor seminary for a year before working until 1960 in parishes in the Santa Fe archdiocese, where he was also a Consultor and chaplain of the NM Senate. Granted the title monsignor in 1950. After working as pastor at Ranchos de Taos, where he was later accused of abuse, he was on sick leave before his next parish assignment at Our Lady of the Assumption in Albuquerque. Listed in the Official Catholic Directory 1960-1976 as a Santa Fe priest 'On sick leave' but reclassified as 'retired' when he died on 10/10/1976. An obituary in the Boston Globe revealed he had been assigned to St. Brigid in Lexington MA, though never indexed or listed as there in the Directory. Not included on the Santa Fe archdiocese's lists of accused.

Transferred three times in first 14 months after ordination. Diocese investigated 1974 allegation. Joined Stigmatine order in 1981. Investigated by police 1986. Working in Ireland at the time and nothing done. No assignment after 1981. Faculties withdrawn 1994. Some claims in 11/02 settlement. Criminal charges filed by two men in 2003. Convicted 2004 and sentenced to 44 years in prison. Eight others offered to testify as to his crimes against them. Died in prison in 2/05. Worked in Boston.

Took voluntary leave 10/28/12 without privileges after recent allegations of engaging in "inappropriate behavior in the presence of minors." Police investigators found no evidence of a crime. Had served as pastor at St. Helen Mother of the Emperor Constantine Parish in Norwell since 2001. After publicity, more people came forward with accusations of sexual abuse during and prior to the mid-1990s. While assigned to St. John's in Canton MA, reportedly drank alcohol with youth involved in the CYO and, on one particular occasion, touched himself sexually and offered money to the first boy who completed a sexual act. Name included on the archdiocese's list in 1/13,  'Administrative Leave; Case in Process.' Laicization announced 3/31/16.

A 2000 lawsuit claimed Mahan abused two of his nephews in 1994-1995 Another was filed in 1999. As of late 2002, at least 12 lawsuits had been filed against Mahan. More in 1/03. The archdiocese was warned in 1994 and 1995. Mahan was referred to as "dangerous" and "a threat to adolescent males." Sent for treatment twice. Privileges removed in 1996. Involuntarily laicized in 2/98. Name included on the archdiocese's list in 8/11.

Died 7/19/99. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 9/19 under the NY Child Victims Act of abuse of a 16-year-old boy in about 1974, while the boy was a student at Bishop Ford High School.

Monsignor. Assisted and pastored parishes throughout the diocese. Longtime Superintendent of Diocesan Schools, and member of Diocesan Examiners of Clergy. Resided many years at an orphanage for girls. Resigned 1975. Accused of the sexual abuse of at least 15 boys ant St. Vincent's in Hanover. More allegations surfaced after his death. Died 6/19/90. In 8/16 the diocese publicly acknowledged that in 1994 it had received credible allegations of child sexual abuse against Maher, said to have occurred in the 1960s. Name included on the diocese's list released 8/1/18. Named in the 8/14/18 PA Grand Jury Report.

Vicar General and former director of Vocations for Diocese. Accused of improprieties by two seminarians in cases that were never publicized and were settled out of court and sealed in the early 1990s. Both settlements involved under $100K, mostly for counseling. One involved a seminarian who also implicated priests in 2-3 other dioceses. Other involved seminarian's allegations against Mahon, three other bishop and another vicar general. This was resolved by offer of counseling and career training.

Died 7/4/07, age 80. Assigned to Holy Name of Jesus parish for 34 years. Name included on the diocese's list released 8/1/18. Accused after his death of the sexual abuse of a child. Included in the PA Grand Jury Report 8/14/18.

Accused in a 4/03 lawsuit of spanking and caressing the bare buttocks of a boy , age 11,on a trip to West Point in 1967. Later attempts to molest the boy "occurred in the sacristy, the bell tower and in defendant's car." At the time of the alleged abuse, was Director of the Capuchins' St Francis Retreat House, across the Hudson from West Point. For many years, celebrated Mass at St Barnabas. In addition to the Rockville Centre diocese and the NY archdiocese, Mahoney was assigned to a parish in the Manchester NH diocese 1990-94. Died 12/15/04. Named in two suits 8/19: claims of abuse 1971-74 of a St. Barnabas student, ages 11-14. (Plaintiff also accused Rev. Edward R. Andrea of abuse 1975-78.); claims of abuse in 1968 of an altar boy, age 10, at St. Barnabas. On the RVC diocese's list in 3/21, noting abuse allegedly occurring many locations.

Removed from ministry in 11/21 after the Diocesan Review Board determined that allegations against Mahoney were credible. An allegation that Mahoney sexually abused a child 1975-78 while assigned to St. Martin of Tours was first brought to the diocese's attention in 10/20. Mahoney was also accused in a 4/21 lawsuit of abusing a boy, ages 12-13, in 1963-64 while he was principal at the Church of St. Leonard of Port Maurice School.

Two men filed civil suits in 1992 and 1993 against the diocese and Mahoney. First plaintiff claimed Mahoney "assaulted, battered and raped" him 1981-83 as a child at an elementary school in South Bend; second claimed abuse 1970-72 at school in Mishawaka. Suits were dismissed 12/93 and 2/94 "with prejudice." No reasons were provided. Resigned from ministry 6/15/93. Laicized 7/25/06. On diocese's 9/18/18 list, noting four credible allegations.

Retired in 2012. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 4/2020 of grooming and sexually harrassing a boy 1971-1974, including plying the boy with alcohol and then pinning him down on a bed, attempting sex. Faculties removed.

Twice accused of abuse. Not substantiated, no action taken. Retired in 2011. Shown in 2013 release of documents to have "maneuvered behind the scenes to shield molester priests, provide damage control for the church and keep parishioners in the dark about sexual abuse in their parishes." As of 2/1/13, his successor, Archbishop Gomez, stripped Mahony of all administrative or public duties. Remained bishop in good standing. The archdiocese's list in 12/21 shows that Mahony was "Exonerated/Retired/Full Faculties to Minister."

A man filed suit in 2/1992 claiming Maiers abused him at age 9 in 1966. It settled out of court in late 1992. Maiers admitted the abuse and also that he had been arrested for soliciting an undercover officer at an adult movie theater in 1984. Also admitted to sexual relationships with a woman and two men in NY in the 1970s. Permanently removed from ministry in 2002. Living under restriction at St. John's Abbey. Included on their list released 12/9/2013. Also on the Addendum to the 12/31/2013 Duluth list and St. Cloud diocese's 1/3/2014 list. St. Paul personnel file released 05/19/2014. Maiers died in 7/22.

Left active priesthood in 1974. Died 6/9/06. Civil suit filed 3/2010 alleged abuse of a 15-year-old boy 1968-69 while Maio was Diocesan Youth Director, leading a "SEARCH" program, and assigned to St. Patrick's. Maio allegedly gave the boy and other youths alcohol and marijuana and had them play strip poker. A second suit filed 4/10 alleged same circumstances, also in 1968. Both suits settled 5/11. Included in the CO A.G. report 10/22/19.

Accused in a lawsuit of sexually abusing a minor at Marymount High School in Los Angeles, while a Loyola University faculty member 1963-67. Trained in the Kansas City, KS archdiocese, then on faculty of St. Louis University in St. Louis for two years. Living in Akron, OH area in 2003. On the Jesuits' Central and Southern Province list 12/7/18. It notes that Maio left the Jesuits in 1970 and the priesthood in 1971. Laicized. On Jesuits West Province list 12/7/18. It notes the abuse in L.A. was in 1963-64 and was reported in 1964 and 2003.

Ordained for the St. Paul diocese, incardinated into New Ulm when it was formed in 1957. Named as one of four with substantiated claims of the sexual abuse of a minor released for the first time by St. Paul-Minneapolis archdiocese 10/23/14. Allegations against Majerus were possibly first made in 1971; he was not removed until 1987. Died 8/28/95.

Named publicly as accused by the Diocese of Scranton on its list 8/19/18. Born in Romania, ordained in Europe. Worked in Scranton diocese 1975-77. Per news in 12/76, was to be reassigned to Austria. Died in 1998. On Scranton diocese's list 8/19/18. On Diocese of Buffalo's list 11/5/18. Left the Buffalo diocese in 1972. Case sent to Vatican.

Charged in 1/1995 with molesting a 16-year-old boy in the parish rectory after giving the boy alcohol. Removed 1/12/1995 without privileges. In a plea bargain on 3/29/1995, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree misconduct. Sentenced to six months in jail and seven years' probation. Later became affiliated with the MN Episcopal Diocese (not as a priest) and arrangements were in place to monitor him while on church property. Named on the 12/31/2013 Duluth list of priests with credible allegations. Last known to be living in Sun City, AZ.

"Pericles." From the Archdiocese of Davao City, Philippines. Assigned to parishes in the Wheeling-Charleston diocese 1993-2009. Retired and living in Beckley WV when arrested in 7/22, charged with "involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16, corruption of minors and indecent assault of a person younger than 16." The abuse allegedly occurred over a five-year period, beginning ten years previously. Malacaman's accuser, a family member, was age 19 in 7/22 when he came forward to police, and said he was abused from ages 9-14.

Ordained for the Diocese of Paterson NJ in 1961, entered the Society of Jesus in 1979. Named publicly as accused by the Jesuits Central and Southern Province on its list 12/7/2018. Allegation to the Order in 1999 that Malatesta sexually abused a Dallas Jesuit College Prep student in the 1980s. Malatesta had been admonished by the Superior for having a student pose nude for a sketching and for swimming nude with students. There were also concerns about Malatesta's relationships with young men, including those he was mentoring. Deemed by Order in 1999 to not be a risk, kept in ministry. Removed from ministry in 2002. Left the Jesuits in 2004. On the Diocese of Dallas list 1/31/2019. On 2/27/2020 the Central and Southern Province Jesuits moved Malatesta's name from the category of those with single allegations against them to those with multiple allegations. Accused in a suit filed by multiple plaintiffs in 8/2019 against Dallas Prep and the Diocese. Abuse alleged of at least two students in the 1980s. One said he reported his abuse to the school in 1981, and nothing was done. The other said he was abused by Malatesta the following year. The suit settled in 3/2022. On the Atlanta archdiocese's list in 11/2020. Included in the GA PAC Report 3/24/2023.

Removed from ministry in 2004 after allegations of sexual misconduct in his early years of ministry. Permanently removed him from public ministry by the Vatican in 6/2006. Died 7/24/2015. Included on the diocese's list of credibly accused 6/10/2019.

Removed from ministry in 1988 after a man alleged that Malboeuf abused him over five years, beginning when he was age 10. A man filed suit in 3/03 alleging that he had been sexually abused in the mid-1960s by Malboeuf, beginning when he was about 11 and continuing for 2-3 years. Two claims against Malboeuf settled in 8/04 as part of a $7.5M settlement between 45 claimants and the diocese involving 18 priests. Malboeuf was voluntarily laicized in 12/89. Died in 2009. Included in 6/21 on the diocese's list of credibly accused.

Ordained in Poland. Arrived in FL in 1989. Accused in a 1998 lawsuit of abusing a 13-year-old girl and a woman. Police investigated for two years; no charges filed. Suit was dormant for four years until the FL Supreme Court ruled in 3/2002 that Churches were not protected from negligent hiring and supervision claims. It settled in 2005. Malicki filed a suit in 7/2002 against the Archdiocese for publicly accusing him of wrongdoing. His suit was dismissed in 6/2003.

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 4/2020 of sexually abusing a boy, beginning in the early 1960s when the boy was age 7 or 8 and continuing through age 15. Maliszewski was assigned 1955-1964 to St. Coleman's in Turtle Creek, where the boy was a student. The boy was a resident of the New Castle Youth Development Center (NYCD) at age 15. The suit also claims the boy was abused by two other unknown priests, one at NCYD and the other during a stay 1970-1971 at Woodville State Hospital. Maliszewski died in 2006. Name included in 2022 on the diocese's list of accused.

As part of Section 13.1, Non-Monetary Commitments, of the Society of Jesus, Oregon Province, Reorganization Plan (7/18/2011) the Province agreed to post on its website the names of all members of the province who are identified as perpetrators of sexual abuse in proofs of claims filed in the bankruptcy case, and who have not denied the allegation. Mallman is included on this list without any additional information on claims against him. Worked in Heart Butte MT for over 40 years. Died 8/20/1980. Included on the Helena diocese's list posted to its website 4/29/2015 in compliance with the non monetary terms of the 3/5/2015 bankruptcy settlement. On the Jesuits West list 12/7/2018. It notes claims in 1980 of abuse in 1958 and 1960.

In 2001 a man accused Malloy of fondling him on one occasion when he was 8 or 9 in 1980. Malloy denied the allegation. Diocese investigation deemed the accusation "not credible" and Malloy was still an active priest as of 2009. Malloy was included in a 2001 global settlement of claims by 26 people against the diocese and 5 priests over the years. Total settlement was about $15M. Died 1/7/2016. In 2019 a 55-year-old man told a news outlet that when he was age 6, Malloy raped him at St. James in Stratford. The man told the diocese a year earlier and said he asked them to pay for his therapy but was only offered $5K. The man also alleged abuse by Revs. Raymond Pcolka and Joseph Murphy.

Made first vows as a Salesian in 1962. Ordained in 1974. National Director of the St. Dominic Savio Club, a youth leadership program. Boy Scouts chaplain. Worked in NY, MA, IN, AL. Removed from ministry in 2009. Named publicly as accused by the Salesian order on its list of credibly accused in 3/2020. No details given as to when or where the abuse took place, or number of victims. (Placing him in the NY archdiocese for now, where the Salesians' Eastern Province is based.)

Arrested in 1998 and later charged with sexually exploiting at least 14 boys 1992-1998. Placed on leave. Indictment covered 42 charges. Charges dismissed 2/2002. Refiled. In a plea agreement in 8/2002 Malloy pleaded no contest to five lesser counts. Sentenced in 9/2002 to 5 years (less 5 days) probation. Per a 2002 article, Malloy had been writing anonymous, sexually explicit notes to teenage boys at St. Pius High School, offering to pay them for their semen. Served as a police chaplain until 1998. Included on the Santa Fe archdiocese's list of accused 9/12/2017. Named in a suit against the Boy Scouts in 12/2018, along with Rev. Ronald Bruckner.

Arrested in 1979 for public lewdness at a rest stop. Removed in 1988 from position as principal of Archbishop Stepinac High School after he was accused of soliciting sex from a young teenage boy. Transferred to three parishes before placed on permanent leave. At least one victim died by suicide. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. Laicized. Died in 2012.

Accused in a 2004 lawsuit of molesting an 11-year-old boy in the early 1950s, under the guise of teaching the boy how to pray. The Franciscans stated that "we believe something did happen," and the suit was settled. Malone also worked at Corpus Christi parish and school in the Chicago, IL archdiocese. On the San Antonio archdiocese's list 1/21/2019. It notes an allegation received in 2001 of abuse in the 1950s of a boy and his brother. Died 6/19/1994. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report. Included on the Franciscans' Our Lady of Guadalupe Province list of credibly accused as of 1/2024. Member of the Sacred Heart Province.

Named publicly by the Diocese in 3/2019 as credibly accused of the sexual abuse of a minor in the early 1980s at Sacred Heart in Jacksonville. His accuser was a girl, age 11. Her parents met with Bishop Snyder in 1991 after learning of the abuse, which allegedly occurred during confession. Malone was moved to St. Elizabeth Seton in Palm Coast. Diocesan documents included in the FL Attorney General's report released in 11/2020 show that, since 1991, at least four women had reported to the Diocese abuse by Malone at Sacred Heart. One said she was age 15 in 1982 when the priest molested her weekly for six weeks during counseling sessions. Another young woman gave birth to Malone's child. The Diocese paid the mother $3K per year 1993- 2010 for child support. Malone worked in the Diocese of St. Augustine 1/1982 - 3/1992. He went to live with his Order on Long Island, NY in 3/1992, then returned to its Ireland Province, where he died in 2003. Included on the St. Augustine diocese's list 11/6/2020.

Retired in 1999. Removed from active ministry in 5/2009 after allegations in 2007 and 2008 that he sexually abused two boys while assigned to St. Mark's Parish in Chicago. Accusers did not want to testify before the Review Board because they were afraid Maloney would sue them; they went ahead and testified in 2009. The Review Board deemed the allegations credible. Matter referred to the Vatican for further action. Name added to the Archdiocese's list 1/14/2010. Died in 6/2018. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes eight "reported survivors."

Ordained for the Diocese of Steubenville. Transferred in 1986 to the Palm Beach diocese. Removed from a Florida parish in 2002 after 17-year-old accused him of behaving inappropriately around him. The youth said he found Maloney in bed with another man and that the priest would walk around his home nude while the youth was there. No criminal charges filed. The youth filed a civil suit in 3/2003. Settled in 5/2004 for less than $1M. Maloney admitted to a long-term, "sporadic" sexual relationship with the other priest. He died in 2011.

First named publicly as accused in the 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. Included on the diocese's list of credibly accused. Report to the diocese in 2004 that Maloney sexually abused a boy in the early 1970s. The alleged victim had a newspaper route as an 8th grader which included delivering to St. Philip's rectory. He said Maloney would have him come into the rectory and photograph him in his underwear. Maloney was placed on leave in 1/2004 and his faculties were removed in 9/2004. He died in 2007. Maloney's accuser also alleged that he was abused in 1973 by Rev. Dom McGee.

Accused in a 6/08 civil suit of abusing an 8-year-old altar boy 1995-96. Assigned to Epiphany parish in Normal. Lawsuit says a woman reported abuse in 1995 or 1996 and a second woman came forward to say Maloney had molested her as a child in the 1970s. Maloney retired in 9/02 because of "health reasons" and died 8/7/09. Authorities found insufficient evidence to file criminal charges. Civil suit settled 8/13 for $1.35M.

Accused in 1984 of molesting three boys; bishop didn't investigate. Accused in 1991 of molesting a 15-year-old boy with emotional, learning and behavioral issues. Criminal charges in 1992. Convicted in 1993. Received a 5-year suspended sentence; violated parole in 1997, sent to prison. Civil suit filed in 1995. Sent to Wounded Brothers in MO after release. Indicted in 2003 for child porn while at the facility. Pled guilty in 2005, sentenced to 9 years in federal prison. Laicized in 6/05. Released 9/9/11. Per MO Sex Offender Register in 12/11, incarcerated in WI. Was to be released 6/19/19, under commitment in WI, with intensive supervision and GPS monitoring. Died 5/20/22. Included in 11/22 on the Diocese of Superior's list of credibly accused.

Left ministry in 1970. Died in 2008. Named publicly by the Joliet diocese on its list revised 3/12/2013 of credibly accused. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report, which notes at least one "reported survivor."

Placed on leave in 6/02 after recent allegations of past sexual abuse. In early 2002 a woman came forward to say that Mancuso abused her in the late 1960s, beginning when she was 14. Mancuso admitted to "some misconduct." No criminal prosecution because beyond statute of limitations. Mancuso initially told his parish that he was leaving for a short time to undergo surgery, but it was announced three weeks later that he had been removed because of the allegation.

Accused in 2002 of abuse of a boy in 1944 in Lewiston, another in the early 1950s (who said Mandeville also abused his younger brother) in Rumford, and one during an unknown time frame. Retired in 1973. Died in 1984. Settlement of a lawsuit in 4/2024 with a man, age 89, who claimed he was sexually abused at age 13 in 1948 by Mandeville. The man said he and two other boys were playing outside of St. John's in Rumford when Mandeville offered to drive them home, and that the priest abused him in the car after dropping off the other boys. The man said he decided to settle so that he could put it behind him in the best way he could for healing.

Per Attorney Jeff Anderson in 4/21, Manfred was accused in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing a minor in 1971.

Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 4/26/19. Died in 1997. Accused in a 9/20 lawsuit of molesting a boy at The Mission of the Immaculate Virgin at Mount Loretto orphanage 1963-74. The boy became a resident of the orphanage at age 7 or 8 and said he suffered repeated sexual, emotional and physical abuse there by numerous priests and staff members. This was the second lawsuit alleging abuse of a boy by Mangan at the facility.

Monsignor. Named publicly as credibly accused by the Fresno diocese on its list in 2021. Worked in Bakersfield, Tehachapi, and Sangor, where he was pastor 1946 to 1953. Pastor of Star of the Sea in Santa Cruz 1953 until his retirement in 1974, per the Official Catholic Directory. Appears to have lived the last few years of his life in the Diocese of Tucson, AZ. Died 5/24/85.

Reportedly in 3/2002 a woman accused Mangen of sexually abusing and raping her for three years in the early 1980s, when she was ages 16-18. Lawsuit filed in 1999. Mangen had acknowledged being sexually active with adults and minors but denied the woman's claims. He did admit that he had been sexually active with two parishioners during the time in question. Worked in Chile in 1984 and later in Peru. Believed to be in Valdivia, Chile as of 11/2010 (not as a priest).

Removed in 1993. Name quietly added among seven others to diocesan website in 11/17 of priests laicized by the Vatican office "authorized to deal with cases involving sexual abuse of minors by a cleric." Per diocese's list in 2/19, permanently removed from ministry 8/11/03, laicized 5/25/07.

Monsignor Francis Xavier Mankel. Helped found the Knoxville diocese; was its first chancellor and vicar general. Pastor of Sacred Heart Cathedral 1987-97. Accused in a 7/19 lawsuit of repeatedly sexually abusing a Sacred Heart altar boy for two-and-a-half years, beginning in 1991 when the boy was in fourth grade. The boy was allegedly "offered up" to other priests for sex, including admitted abuser Bishop Anthony O'Connell, at least twice. Mankel died in 2017. Mankel's accuser filed a police report in 2018 and met with Bishop Stika, who said there was no credible evidence. The suit also accused a Sacred Heart music teacher, William Michael Lovelace, of attempting inappropriate touch. The diocese settled with Mankel's accuser in 12/19 while still denying the validity of the claim.

Assigned to Aiea and Pearl City HI parishes and on Guam. Parents of two altar boys complained in 1994 but the Diocese said Mannetta's behavior was not sexual in nature. Underwent treatment for sexual issues and alcohol abuse. Admitted giving alcohol to boys. Accused in a 5/2003 lawsuit of abuse by a 22-year-old mentally-challenged man beginning when the man was a minor in 1997 or 1998 until 12/2001. Mannetta had been reassigned in 10/2002 to NY after the man's uncle reported the abuse to the Diocese. Settled for $375K in 1/2007 just before trial. Accused of abuse on Guam during seminary and his first assignment. A lawsuit in 2017 alleged abuse in 1985 of an altar boy, age 9-10, on Guam. A suit in 10/2017 claimed abuse in 1985 of 14-year-old boy in Talofofo, Guam. Included on the Las Vegas diocese's list 4/12/2019 (name misspelled "Manetta"). Accused in a lawsuit in 1/2022, along with Fr. J. Michael Morrissey, of abuse of a boy in the 1980s in Mangilao, Guam.

Worked in WV, FL, MA, OH, NY. Involved for 50 years with Mary Help of Christians School in Tampa FL, including as its director three times. Returned to his native Italy in 1990. Died 2/16/2000. Named publicly as accused by the Salesian order on its list of credibly accused in 3/2020. No details given as to when or where the abuse occurred, or how many victims. (Placing him in the NY archdiocese for now, where the Salesians' Eastern Province is based.)

Named publicly as accused by the Jackson diocese on its list 3/19/19. It notes report received in 1991 of abuse in 1967 in New Jersey. Retired in 2002. Died in 2008. Added to Richmond diocese's list 10/4/19 of those with abuse alleged to have occurred in the diocese.

Also known as Robert Manning. Priest of St. Louis Archdiocese, transferred to CO. Removed 1/21/2012 by the Colorado Springs diocese from St. Gabriel the Archangel after an allegation of abuse of a youth. Arrested 5/22/2012 on charges of abuse of a 15-year-old boy. 'Retired' 2/23/2012 due to declining health. More charges filed 5/31/2012 in CO regarding the same boy. Living in MO. Denied charges. Jury trial 7/2013. Acquitted on sexual assault and porn; found guilty of two counts of giving the boy marijuana and alcohol. Given four years probation as of 9/2013.

Criminally charged in 1993 with the recent sexual abuse of an 11-year-old altar boy. Another priest reported witnessing Manning touching the boy's genitals in the St. Charles rectory in Woburn. Acquitted by a jury in 1994. After acquittal, was not allowed to act as a priest and all faculties were removed in 1996. In 2002, man and woman came forward to say he had abused them as minors. Included on the archdiocese's list in 8/11. Still on administrative leave as of 10/15, canonical proceedings still in process. Died 2/26/20, canonical case not completed.

Transitional deacon preparing for priesthood. Removed from ministry 5/15/1992. Received 5 years probation in 1994 after pleading guilty to assaulting a 17-year-old boy and to making sexual advances on a 14-year-old boy. Moved to Maryland in 1995. Included on the Hartford archdiocese's list 1/22/2019.

A man filed suit in 6/09 alleging abuse at age 8 by Manville and another priest, Gus Krumm, at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in 1992-93. Previoulsy, Manville was on faculty of several high schools, including Bishop Diego High School in Santa Barbara 1960-73. Plaintiff's brother joined in the suit in 1/11, alleging abuse by both priests 1990-94. Diocese settled 8/11; order didn't. Jury found in favor of order 10/11. Died 4/29/16.

From Guadalajara, Mexico. Pastor of San Felipe De Jesus Parish in Nogales, AZ when placed on leave in 12/2003 after he was informed of allegations that he sexually abusing his nephew for four years, beginning when the boy was age 8. Some of the abuse is alleged to have occurred at San Felipe De Jesus. Fled, likely to Guadalajara. Police investigated. Tucson police determined that several youths alleged abuse by Manzo during the 1990s, and that the Diocese responded by moving him to other parishes. The nephew filed a civil lawsuit in 12/2004. Manzo was removed from the priesthood in 2010. Included on the Tucson diocese's list of credibly accused.

Manzo is one of 12 priests and a religious brother named in a 10/02 lawsuit against the Diocese of Brooklyn, filed by 43 plaintiffs. One man claimed Manzo violently abused him when he was an altar boy during the early 1990s. Manzo was officially on leave from the diocese beginning in 1995. He is not indexed in the Catholic Directory after 2002. A church bulletin in 9/16 indicates that Marzo was still a priest of the diocese. On diocese's list in 2/19. It notes permanent removal from ministry 2/20/03.

A man filed civil suit in 2004 in federal court in Albuquerque alleging that he was abused by Maramba 1976-77 at a parish in NM (then part of the El Paso Diocese, later part of the Las Cruces Diocese). Returned to his native Philippines in 1978; reportedly a "foremost" music composer of sacred text in the Philippines. Second suit filed 2/07 claiming abuse in the 1970s. Both settled. A third suit settled 4/1//10. A fourth suit filed 4/13/10; settled 5/11. On Diocese of Las Cruces list 11/8/18. On El Paso's list 1/31/19.

Faculty member 1964-2009 at Bishop Maginn High School (formerly named Cardinal McCloskey High), volunteer chaplain and board member there in retirement. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/20 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing a boy, ages 9-11, 1974-76, while visiting St. James parish. The abuse allegedly occurred in the sacristy, rectory and music practice room.The same plaintiff also claimed he was sexually abused by Rev. (later Bishop) Howard Hubbard during the same time-period. Marbury died 12/02/14. Added in 10/20 to the diocese's list of credibly accused.The allegation was reportedly first received in 1993. Two other previous allegations: in 2003; review board could not substantiate, and in 2015; review board said "insufficient information."

First named publicly accused in the 8/14/18 PA Grand Jury Report. Included in 8/18 on the diocese's list of credibly accused. Died 1987. Allegation to diocese in 11/07 from a man who said Marcinek abused him from about 1972, when he was a 10-year-old Holy Rosary student in Republic, until the early 1980s. He said the abuse, including oral copulation, occurred at the rectory, Marsinek's cabin and on trips, including to to Sea World and Geauga Lake in OH and Niagara Falls. Marsinek may have also abused the alleged victim's brother. He said his family was poor and Marsinek gave him money and gifts, including a car. Settled for $10K and 90 counseling sessions.

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 6/20 of sexually abusing a minor 1964-65 while assigned to St. Joseph in Green Island.

Accused in a lawsuit(s) filed in 2020 under the NY Child Victims Act. Director at some point of Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Lewiston NY. Also worked in San Diego CA, Ontario Canada, Pala CA, and Campo CA. From 2008 until his death 2/15/18 assigned to the Barnabite Spiritual Center in Bethlehem PA and assisted in parishes in the Allentown Diocese and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Suspended in 2/19 by the archdiocese after it received an allegation that Marcotte sexually abused a teenage boy in 2016. Criminally charged in 10/19 with child solicitation, vicarious sexual gratification, and dissemination of matter harmful to minors. Archdiocese was sued in 7/20 by insurance company for failure to disclose allegations against Marcotte. Pleaded guilty in 3/22 to the of dissemination of matter harmful to minors. To be sentenced 4/7/22. Plea deal rejected by a judge in 4/22. Sentenced in a plea deal in 11/22 to a year of home detention followed by 18 months' probation. He was not required to register as a sex offender. 

Monsignor. Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi in Astoria when accused in a lawsuit filed in summer 2021 under the NY Child Victims Act of a child, age 7, over 30 years previously, while assigned to St. Edmund in Brooklyn.

In 2006 Maresh exposed himself to a woman and her children, a boy age 2 and a girl age 4, who were walking near an elementary school. The incident happened when Maresh opened his car door and said something to the woman. He was later arrested and pleaded guilty to public indecency. He was sentenced to 50 hours of community service, 30 days in jail and a $250 fine. After treatment at St. Luke Institute in MD he was returned in 2008 to public ministry. Included in the NE A.G.'s 11/21 report. He remains in active ministry in 1/23.

Accused in 10/12/15 lawsuit of engaging at least once in unpermitted sexual contact with Doe 75, a boy aged about 15 in 1978 at Cathedral High School, where Marfori worked 1978-80. Attorney Jeff Anderson stated that Marfori orally copulated the boy on a trip, and that a second boy was abused by Marfori in the same way. Marfori is a native of the Philippines and graduated from St John's University in Collegeville MN in 1972. After learning of the suit, the diocese removed Marfori's faculties and began an investigation. When the suit was filed, Marfori was not included in the diocese's list of clergy accused of sexual abuse or an addendum to that list. Marfori reportedly remembers the complainant but said there was "no truth" to the allegation. In a 3/16 lawsuit a second former Cathedral High student claimed abuse by Marfori in the 1970s. Diocese added name to its list in 1/18. Per bishop, Marfori was living under restrictions in the diocese. The diocese's list in 7/22 shows that Marfori was laicized.

Assistant priest at St. Teresa's in Lincoln in the 1980s when accused of molesting at least three boys, ages 11 and 12, on separate occasions within two years of ordination. Criminal charges were filed in 7/1987 after one of the boys came forward. Found guilty in 1988. Served approximately three years in prison, released in 1/1991. Diagnosed in prison as a pedophile with "obsessive-compulsive personality disorder with paranoid and schizoid features." A 4/2002 story said he was a graduate student in criminal justice at Temple University in Philadelphia. Said to be using an assumed name. Laicized in 2004. Included on the diocese's list 4/2/2019. Per the NE A.G. report released in 11/2021, there are five known victims. Margand was struck and killed by a car in a hit-and-run accident while out walking  9/1/2022. He had been living in Deptford Township, NJ.

Mariano was a cross-dresser who was convicted of child molestation in 1998 for performing oral sex on a teenage boy while posing as a 25-year-old woman. Served 5 months in jail. Jesuit leaders had reprimanded Mariano for sexual misconduct at least 5 years prior to the 1998 incident. The Jesuits had apparently been moving him around since 1988. After his release from prison he was moved to a Jesuit community at Los Gatos where other priests abused two mentally disabled residents. Permanently banned from ministry in 1998. Included on the Diocese of San Jose list 10/18/2018. Noted to have been dismissed from the Jesuits 11/25/2002. On the Jesuits West Province list 12/7/2018. Per the list in 2023, Mariano is deceased.

From Colombia. In 12/2019 the Diocese announced credible allegations against Marin-Cardona involving a minor. In 9/2019 the child's parents expressed concern to the Diocese. Marin-Cardona was was placed on leave and sent to an "adult facility." Charged in 1/2020 with child sexual abuse. The abuse occurred in 2014 and 2016 while Marin-Cardona was assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Danbury, involving two boys. Marin-Cordona admitted to touching one of the boys on his groin multiple times over four years; his victim said the abuse started when he was age 12. The priest also admitted to touching the buttocks of the other boy. Pleaded not guilty in 2/2020. Allegations substantiated by the DCF. On the Diocese's list 1/22/2020. Pleaded guilty to revised charges. Sentenced in 10/2022 to ten years in jail, suspended after one year, and five years' probation.

Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 4/26/19. Claims against Marino eligible for the IRCP. Died in 2004.

Placed on leave in 2/19 after an allegation that he sexually abused a child in the late 1970s while working at St. Hubert High School for Girls and in residence St. Bernard and St. Bartholomew. Marinucci denied the allegation. Police and archdiocese to investigate.

From Ireland. Arrested 11/09 at age 81 in South Bend IN on warrant from Ireland. Charges relate to abuse of a 15-year-old boy in Ireland in 1968. Suspended at least three times and in treatment four times, including Paracletes in NM in 1981. Worked with the Paracletes for some time before being sent to work in New Ulm. Extradited to Ireland in 2010. Died in 9/12 while awaiting trial. Named in civil suits against the New Ulm Diocese and Paracletes in 1/11, 12/13 and 2/14 (includes siocese's counter-suit against Irish diocese in 3/14.) Name included on New Ulm list released by Attorney Jeff Anderson 08/04/14. Names came from deposition of Rev. Francis Garvey, a former top New Ulm Diocese official, taken in 1/14.

Named publicly as credibly accused in 8/18 by the St. Vincent Archabbey Benedictines in Latrobe PA. The Archabbey received multiple allegations in 2002 that Markiewicz sexually abused minors 1966-1971, while assigned to St. Vincent's Preparatory School in Latrobe. He was removed from active ministry in 2002 and died 10/10/19.

Ordained for St. Paul archdiocese, incardinated 1957 in New Ulm diocese. Suits filed by four men in 4/94 alleged abuse as boys by Marks in late 1950s and early 1960s while assigned to St. John's in Hector. Two of the boys were cousins. One of them told his parents and they went to church trustees. In 1962 Marks was sent to another parish. He died in 1979 at age 71. Named in a civil suit filed 11/12/13 against St. Paul-Minneapolis archdiocese and New Ulm diocese. Another man came forward in 3/14. Additional suit filed 6/17/14 by man who alleged Marks would pay him for sexual acts in 1950s when he delivered newspapers to the rectory as a boy. Name included on New ULM list released by Attorney Jeff Anderson 08/04/14. Names came from deposition of Rev. Francis Garvey, a former top New Ulm Diocese official, taken in 1/14. Included in 10/14 on the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis list of credibly accused.

Laicized. Marmo's name included on the archdiocese's list 1/15/2016. Worked in archdiocese until 1992 in Kenmore, Everett, Seahurst, Federal Way, Seattle and Olympia. Alleged in suit filed 5/2017 of abusing child in 1970s, and of ignoring parents concerns that youth minister Jim Funnell was molesting their son. Marmo was living in Palm Springs, CA in 5/2016. Settlement announced 11/2018.

Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 2/13/19. One alleged victim noted. Died 11/7/12.

In 6/20 the archdiocese announced that it had received allegations of child sexual abuse against Marquitz, which it deemed substantiated. Marquitz had at some point been removed from ministry and laicized. Known as a champion soccer player in the 1950s and 1960s. Per a St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame bio, Marquitz went on to coach at the parish and select levels, as well as for Special Needs Kids (SPENSA) and at the St. Louis Soccer Park.

Accused in 1995 of the sexual abuse, including rape, of a 3- to 6-year-old girl in 1967-1970. Marrer took a leave of absence in 1971 and died in 1996. Included on the Steubenville diocese's list 10/31/2018.

First named publicly as accused on the Youngstown diocese's list 10/29/2018. Died in 2007.

Born in Ireland. Arrived in the U.S. at age 16. Name appears on a list of priests with credible allegations released by the San Diego diocese 3/30/2007. Per his obituary, Marron was assigned to St. Rita High School in Chicago IL 1937-1941, St. Mary's parish in Rockford IL  1941-1945, Navy Chaplain 1945-1969, formation community at Cole St. in San Francisco in 1970, and St. Patrick's Parish in San Diego in 1970. He retired in 1975 to St. Augustine High School Monastery and assisted at parishes around the diocese until 1993. He died in 3/1998 at age 91. Brother of accused priest Michael V. Marron. Two women sued in 1/2020, claiming Marron molested them in San Diego in 1976-1977 or 1978. Included on the Rockford diocese's list in 5/2022. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Accused in a 6/21 lawsuit of sexually abusing a boy for several years in the 1970s, beginning when the boy was a second-grader. Another Marrufo accuser received a settlement from the IRCP. Assigned to St. Peter the Apostle in Fallbrook 2010-19. Per the plaintiff's attorneys, the diocese knew of allegations for a year without notifying the parishes and schools where Marrufo was assigned.

Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 7/26/19. Allegations substantiated. Ministry restricted. Died in 2004. Included on the Springfield-Cape Girardeau diocese's list updated 4/13/21.

Marsh resigned from active priesthood in late 1988. He admitted to molesting about 10 boys. Named in a 2002 civil suit by three brothers and their mother. The brothers accused him of abuse between 1969-1973. Settled in  12/2003 for $425K. The youngest brother of the three original plaintiffs filed his own suit in late 1/2005. Marsh may have been laicized in 1989. He was deposed in the Fr. Paul Conn case, who pleaded guilty in 1988 to abuse of boys. Named in new suit in 6/2011. Name included on the archdiocese's list 1/15/2016 of clergy and religious with established, admitted or credible allegations against them of sexual abuse of a minor. Deceased.

Transferred to Canada in 1966 from Chicago. Charged in 2003 with 20 counts of lewd acts upon child under age 14 1959-1963, while working in Los Angeles. At least three accusers there. The District Attorney was attempting to extradite as of 2003. Named in a 12/2003 civil suit. In residence at the Paulist Centre for Catholic Evangelization in Toronto, ON, Canada, per Paulist website accessed 9/19/2009. On the Buffalo diocese's list updated 11/5/2018. On the Paulists' list 3/8/2019. It notes allegations reported 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2018, of abuse in Los Angeles 1959-1960, 1960-1962, 1961-1962; 1956 and 1959 in Lake George NY, and in Buffalo NY in 1982. Marshall died 12/24/2012. Included in 10/2022 on the Chicago archdiocese's list. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General's Report.

Ordained in Canada. School principal in Toronto and Windsor 1952-56. Worked at St. Thomas High in Houston, TX 1956-57. Returned to Canada. Also did missionary work in St. Lucia. Allegation in 1998 of abuse in 1969. Retired in 1997. Treatment at St. Luke's. Charged in 2010 with abuse in Toronto and Windsor in the 1950s and 1980s. Pled guilty in 6/11 to abuse of 16. Sentenced to two years in prison. More suits in 12/11. Order denied any allegations of abuse during his time in Houston.

Assigned to St. Pius X parish in Wauwatosa WI in 2001. Removed 3/28/13 when a teacher reported questionable behavior with a student at school. Ordered to stay away from children and under the supervision of his Order pending police investigation. Similar incidents in Sacramento diocese 1980s-90s were reported to WI in 5/13 and police late 2012. Charged in 2/17 with felony child sexual assault for alleged incidents of abuse of a girl at St. Pius X parish and school 2007-2010, starting when she was age 6. Pled guilty in 10/17 to reduced charges. Sentenced 12/17 to 1 year in House of Corrections. On Sacramento diocese's list 4/30/19. It notes two reports in 2012 of abuse of boys under age 14 and report in 2019 of abuse of girl under age 14. Alleged abuse occurred 1988-95. Worked in diocese 1987-2000.

In 1994, a man told the diocese that he had been abused by Marsico in 1982 at age 13. Marsico was assigned to St. Leo the Great in Rohrerstown and later to St. Rose of Lima in York. Diocese investigated and removed Marsico from active ministry without privileges. Diocese arranged for Marsico to pay for man's therapy and medication. It denied him any type of settlement because it said it had no knowledge of the sexual abuse at the time it happened. The man testified before a grand jury in 10/16 for the state A.G.'s investigation of 6 PA dioceses. He said that the D.A. in the late 1990s told him there were other Marsico victims. In 2011 Marsico was reportedly a Harrisburg travel agent. Name included on the diocese's list released 8/1/18.

The Rochester diocese received an allegation in 3/19 that Martensen sexually abused a minor in the 1970s. Campus minister since 2007 at Ithaca College at Cornell. Also taught in the South Bronx at a summer day camp and was chaplain at Fordham Prep. Suspended pending investigation by the Jesuits.

Monsignor. Named publicly as accused by the archdiocese on its list 1/31/19. Died in 1989.

Accused 3/22/2018 by a former priest of the Erie diocese of molesting him beginning when he was age 16 in 1985-1989. The former priest said he was a devout boy whose home life was troubled. In 1984 Martin had been named by Pope John Paul II a Prelate of Honor with the title Monsignor. Abuse is alleged at St George's in Erie, where Martin was pastor, and after Martin's 1986 retirement, at Mount Calvary church and Mercyhurst College in Erie, where Martin was in residence. The diocese confirmed that the survivor brought the allegation to Bishop Persico in 2014. The complainant testified before the grand jury investigating how Erie and other PA dioceses handled allegations. Martin died 5/23/2006. Settlement in 2021 in the low six figures of a claim of abuse of a boy, age 15 in 1964.

In 6/2010 two men reported to the Diocese abuse as minors by Martin. Notices were placed in two church bulletins; four more accusers came forward. All alleged abuse in the 1950s-early 1960s. Pastor of St. Mary's in Morrice, then St. Isidore's in Laingsburg 1941-1966. Retired in 1966 when church burned down. Died in 1968. On the diocese's list of credibly accused clerics 9/27/2019. On Detroit archdiocese's list 6/10/2019, which notes that he had been removed from public ministry.

In 2006 a man reported to the diocese that Martin and another priest, Andrew Burke, sexually assaulted him on multiple occasions in the early 1970s, when the man worked as a janitor at St. Pius X Parish. Some of the abuse allegedly occurred prior to his 18th birthday. Martin died in1974. Martin's accuser filed suit in 10/09. Settled. Included in the CO A.G.'s Special Masters Report in 2019. The report noted that there was no indication in Martin's file that the diocese investigated after the man came forward in 2006, nor that officials reported it to law enforcement.

In 2002 a man reported to the archdiocese that Martin groped him at age 14 in 1965.  The abuse is said to have occurred when Martin took him and his brother to his family home in NH to shovel snow and chop wood. Martin took leave in 2000 and resigned in 2001 from his position as pastor of the church where convicted child molester Chris Reardon worked; he had been accused of ignoring complaints about Reardon. Per the 8/11 Boston archdiocese's list, the allegations against Martin were found unsubstantiated. Retired; privileges still restricted in 8/22.

Worked in MD, DE, CA, WDC. Arrested in 2001 on charges of sexually abusing a boy while a teacher at Loyola Blakefield High School in Towson, MD, beginning in 1977 when the boy was 16. The abuse went on for over two-and-a-half years. Martin worked at the school 1970-1986, prior to ordination. Pleaded guilty. Sentenced under a plea agreement to "probation before judgment" for five years, and not required to register as a sex offender. On list of accused priests released by Wilmington Bishop Saltarelli 11/16/2006. Also on list released by Baltimore Archdiocese in 9/2002. "Formally barred" by Vatican in 9/2008. Worked for entity owned by the Chicago Archdiocese for several years after sentence. Wilmington gave cash payments until 11/2009. Blocked release of personnel files in 12/2012. Pension reinstated by court in 12/2012. Another former Loyola Blakefied student reported in 2018 that Martin groomed him as a student in the early 1970s. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General's Report.

Accused of abuse of two teen brothers at St. Andrew in Bayonne, starting in 1978. One told a priest in 1981 and auxiliary bishop Pichelli in 1983, but no action. Martin later held prominent position in diocese, then returned to parish ministry. The same victim went to Archbishop McCarrick with allegations in 1996 or 1997. Victim and family got small settlement. Martin was removed, later assigned as a hospital chaplain. Removed in 2002. Still a priest in 2013, without privileges, working as a train conductor for NJ Transit. He successfully sued to keep personnel file from being released in bankruptcy. On archdiocese's list 2/13/2019. Multiple alleged victims noted. Permanently removed from ministry. New suit in 7/2020 claims abuse of a boy 1981-1984 at St. Andrew's.

Accused in a 2/26/04 suit of sexually abusing altar boys at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Manhattan. Three plaintiffs alleged abuse 1955-61, beginning at ages 11, 10, and 13, with one claiming more 200 incidents over five years. Martin also had a disciplinary role at parish grammar school. Suit claims other altar boys were abused, too. Martin died in 1983. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. Claims against Martin eligible for the IRCP.

First identified publicly as accused by the Santa Fe archdiocese on its list 9/12/2017. Included on the Diocese of Las Cruces list of credibly accused 1/08/2018. Report noted to have been received in 2002 of an alleged incident in 1984. Martin worked at NMMI (New Mexico Military Institute) in Roswell 1983-1984. Died 12/31/2021.

Placed on leave in 1/2022 due to an allegation of recent sexual abuse of a minor. Deemed credible in 12/2022. Assigned after ordination to St. Anne's in Shrewsbury, then as administrator of St. Paul and St. Stanislaus parishes in Warren.

Suspended in 4/1993 due to allegations of abuse, which he denied. Civil suit filed in 12/1993, claiming Martinez abused a boy 1977-1983, beginning when the boy was age 12 and Martinez was studying to be a Franciscan Friar. Martinez allegedly would abuse the boy in NM and during trips throughout the U.S. The suit was dismissed in 5/1995.

Also known as Ernesto or Ernie. Accused of abuse of a minor 1965-1966, per the 2004 Los Angeles Archdiocesan report. Assigned to St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower at the time of the alleged abuse. Transferred to Mexico. Named in at least one civil suit. As of 2008, last known to be at Salesian provincial headquarters in San Francisco. 

Accused of propositioning a 15-year-old boy in a motel room in 1986. The boy told his parents; civil suit filed. Settlement of about $22K. Placed on leave in 1987. Laicized in 2008. Also worked in the Peoria, Springfield IL and Rochester dioceses. Included on the Davenport diocese's list of credibly accused in 7/2008. On Peoria's list by 1/2020. Arrested in 9/2023, charged with possession of over 600 child abuse images and videos. Removed from ministry. Resided as a transitional deacon then ordained priest at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Oxnard 7/1/2021-9/30/2022. In residence after that with his Order in Long Beach, adjacent to St. Maria Goretti Church and School.

Accused of abuse of seven minors, occurring in 1970-1981, per the L.A. archdiocesan report. Spent time in treatment in the early 1990s at Via Coeli in Jemez Springs, NM. At least two civil suits were filed in 12/2003. Working in the Oakland diocese in 2003. Eight lawsuits settled in 2007. Personnel files released by Order 7/31/2013 show some allegations written in Japanese characters to disguise references to acknowledgement of homosexuality and admitting to relations with boys. Admitted in 2005 to abusing as many as 100 boys. May have traveled to Mexico and abused there. In 2013 possibly living at the Vianney Renewal Center in Dittmer MO, or in Oakland. On the Oakland diocese's list in 2019.
